Hi all

The new forum is now in full operation. To date, the boards are looking a bit sparse, but I’m sure this will change as more people switch from the old forum.

Havoc has stated that the old forum will continue to operate for the foreseeable future, but I would like to encourage people to register in this new forum sooner rather than later, and make it their preferred point of reference for anything Sryth related. The frequency of this will only increase as people come to rely less on the old forum.

However, it’s true that the old forum is a mine of information, entertainment and fond memories, so getting people to make the switch will require assistance from those of us who aren’t as reliant on that old information.

We can do this in a couple of ways:
1) I’ve noticed a few examples on the new forum where subjects are referred back to posts on the old forum. Instead of doing this, copy and paste relevant posts from the old to the new forum when necessary. DO NOT transpose the whole thread!
2) Be original. Where possible, instead of transferring old posts to the new forum, start a new thread that covers the same topic; give it a new title; jazz it up!
3) Be totally original. Think up a new subject that might be informative, interesting, humourous, etc. Invite discussion; get people to comment on your ideas and contributions, encourage them to offer opinions.
4) Continue to be constructive and helpful. If a new player asks a question that’s already been asked a thousand times, smile and give him/ her the pleasant answer.
5) Have some fun and be seen to be having fun. This type of approach is often infectious and attracts people back.

I’ve taken points 3 and 5 and combined them into a new thread in the “Role-playing” board. This does not take the format of interactive fiction (like, “Behind the Green Door”).

Check it out! THE CATWALK

Excellent idea - I would give you some rep if I was allowed but the rep system advised me I had to spread some around before giving you some again. Can someone spare some rep? I bestowed some rep on you before I had ten posts so I don't think it "took". Once I'm allowed I'll boost your rep - in the meantime I rated your thread with five stars - nice advice.
