so a while back I noticed there were some XP changes made to the anthill.

Ive been testing and so far it seems there is no additional bonus, currently, for clearing out the entire nest as is indicated in the text.

Any news about this???

I remember it being discussed and I'm pretty sure the GM responded directly. Perhaps through questions to the GM or a member's query - I'm thinking Elrond. It might have been as far back as when we were still on the old forum.

The rewards have definitely changed - the wiki has been edited to show them. If I'm not mistaken the rewards in the first column "If you did NOT kill all enemies" is the same as before the tweak - except maybe the max general reward was increased a little. The new changes are for and listed under "if you kill all enemies". The max and rarest reward is the same regardless of how many ants you squash.

For newer forum members Elendil is one of Elrond's former multiple forum handles.


Elendil again stands holding a note this time.

It reads: There are still more enemies in this lair left to defeat. By defeating all the enemies in this lair before facing the Queen, you will receive an additional Experience bonus at the end.

He asks, "Would the GM kindly explain the above quote from Jadefang Lair? What exactly is the additional experience bonus at the end?"


Answer: You're supposed to only be able to achieve the maximum reward by defeating all the ants prior to defeating the queen, but it appears that may not be working as intended. I'll have to look into it and fix it! Thanks for the report.

Well the rewards were definitely tweaked. As for who's right or wrong - although I'd like to take credit (or blame) I got my info from the wiki. It seems although the rewards were changed the maximums were not - for whatever reason(s).

Bearing slightly bad tidings here but I got this result after just heading straight down the lefthand side of the Jadefang Lair and not clearing the full lair so doesn't look as if the reward table is still accurate.:(

Curious... tell me, when you raced down the lefthand side and got to the 3 large guardian ants, did you receive 64xp for killing them? Or is that the reward for clearing out the entire nest?

I've never thought to finish the Jadefang lair without bashing everything that moves (and quite a few things that don't).

The max reward is supposed to only be able to be received if you clear out all the ants but it hasn't been that way, perhaps the GM finally got around to changing that max reward mechanic and in addition made some other tweaks....?

That'd be real hard to track just because of the random nature of things unless someone gets the max rewards without clearing the entire lair. Which of course shouldn't be possible if he fixed the rewards. Curious... tell me, when you raced down the lefthand side and got to the 3 large guardian ants, did you receive 64xp for killing them? Or is that the reward for clearing out the entire nest?


You do still get the 64xp without emptying the nest. I'm getting to be quite a fan of the quick run as you can be in and out in 4 minutes and still pick up good xp to AS&P.

(I'm going to need to find a lot more shortcuts like this though if I'm going to make up for my extended absence. :P)

And yes Oldschool - I do believe the infamous Dragonflame Disc is still gathering dust in Durnsig. :)

I still haven't hit the max reward yet (which should be the same regardless).

However-

I've now received every other possible combination associated with 'if you killed all enemies' and none of the rewards from 'if you did NOT kill all enemies' despite just charging down the NW path and ignoring the other two branches of the lair. So it seems safe to assume the quick route now pays the same final reward as a full extermination. Anybody want to take the centre route and verify thats the case?
