Since we have a section for replayables, I thought maybe individual threads for all of them would be in order.

I like the Idea, exalt for you.
It's cool how the timer starts when you go in, instead of when you come out.

(Thanks and have one back)
I agree about the timer. I wish all of them were like that, especially Tarn.

I have no revelations about the Bat Cave.
I do wonder how you view the necessity of this replayable scenario. For you, is it just a time filler? Is it an excuse to make a few extra gold coins? Do you specifically revel in the ability to hack a few big rodents to death?
The reward is a paltry 64XP (+ the few points to weaponry, general and your particular weaponry sub-skill.
Okay, so it only takes 5 minutes to plough through those bats... do you do the cave as part of your routine, or is it a place only visted infrequently?
From my point of view, I'd prefer to see the adversaries and rewards of this place stepped up before any changes to the ice cave are made.
I mention this because I have heard a lot of people wish for the ice cave to be made a more frequent replayable scenario. I don't agree with that.

At one time (when I had the time), I ran all of the grinders including The Bat Cave. It was, for the most part, a time killer even though it only takes a minute with my connection (and quick combat).
As for the 64XP you receive, I frequently get less from the CHR and his side kick combined yet I still go there daily......

The Bat Cave's a good place to go pick up a few more pieces of loot to sell when you don't have enough room left in your inventory to hit Axepath or Yir-Tanon, especially since it only takes me 2-3 minutes when I stay focused. I don't grind much lately, but when I do I usually hit it.

These days I only run it if I'm trying to get one of the secondaries to a particular gold target.

I hit the flee option instead of continue (by accident) and got this message.....
Are you certain you wish to retreat and leave the cave?
Please Note: If you leave the cave you will have to wait for this scenario to reset before you can attempt it again. It will reset every 60 minutes.
* Retreat and leave the cave...
* Decide to press on through the cave...
How long has it been in place.
The last I knew, if you ran, you were done for an hour......
Just looked at the Wiki and it say's if you flee from combat, but any time I accidentally hit flee, I was kicked out completely.

Well I'm pretty sure it wasn't there the last time I accidentally hit flee as I got booted immediately as well which I"m guessing has been within the last few (maybe several?) months.
EDIT: And mine was the same as yours I didn't flee combat but hit the FLEE button/icon accidentally.
Edit2: Nice to have that safety feature.

You're right; I'm pretty sure you used to get kicked right out any time you fled a combat in the Bat Cave. Nice that he finally added a confirmation for it so you no longer get punished for accidentally clicking Flee.

I just checked and if you flee from the combat screen....
Combat is about to begin . . .
Here are your options, SCOUT...
* KILL YOUR ENEMY
Attempt to slay your enemy...
(Click the link above or click one of the 3 attack styles in the upper right.)
* RUN a QUICK COMBAT (Learn More)
* FLEE IMMEDIATELY
Attempt to flee from this combat at once!
..... you still get kicked out. To bad that didn't change as well.
At least it's a 50% improvement.....

That has been there since the beginning - if you click on one of the links to flee (outside combat) you get that warning, but if you flee from combat there's no warning.

I could have sworn that I've clicked flee outside of combat and got kicked out without a warning.
Now I'm not sure......

The upside is that unlike some of the replayables the HoR's timer actually resets if you quit w/o saving so you don't have to wait twelve hours in those cases.
MOD EDIT: The above was originally posted in the Hall of Ruin thread to which TG responded (in part),
Ninja edit: OS, does that happen in anything other than the BG?
Which started a discussion involving the next five posts which were moved to this thread. Original post is above the MOD EDIT above and is unedited. And I left TG's quoted post in that thread for continuity as it was on topic and had a nice walkthrough.

Axepath if you enter (maybe go past) the SAFE point which still "gets me" occassionally. Not sure about the others (can't recall atm), but I'm thinking Bat Cave and Yir-Tanon are the same. Oh - almost forgot Scout's nemesis the CHR which keeps ticking (got a sudden "image" of the old Timex commercials, "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking" in regards to the CHR and Scout's posse, lol.). Tarn's doesn't as it's like the HoR, but I'm not sure about its lower level or Moonpath.

Duh..... Me brain fart. :)
Of course! Though I know from experience that Moonpath doesn't reset if you die... Not sure about if you quit. :) Jadefang?
(Although I wouldn't say CHR is Scout's nemesis... More like his friend :). Scout, thoughts?)

Actually, I'm the one breaking cranial wind and adding to my already long illustrious forum week  as Axepath's timer doesn't keep running if you quit w/o saving if you back out before completing it nor do the others (I think). CHR does though.
REDEMPTIVE (I hope ) EDIT: After thinking about it besides CHR and the BG events I think Bat Cave is the only other one whose timer starts when you begin the event instead of completing it like the other ones. Although I think Bat Cave (despite it's opening text) will also allow you to reenter it if you flee or otherwise exit it then quit w/o saving.

ACTUALLY!!!!!!!
ALL of the events timers (except the BG and Bat Cave, which start when you enter) start when you leave :P
Oh, and if the siggie chain isn't enough.... just a reminder: VOTE FOR SRYTH!

Now you've done and ninja'd my edit, lol. This is really bugging me so I'm headed for the Bat Cave because despite the text I think it doesn't stay ticking if you quit w/o saving. At least recently, because I had it happen (I think) although I thought it did or should've keep ticking and was surprised.
Clear as mud?
EDIT: Just confirmed that despite the multiple text warnings that if you exit The Bat Cave and quit without saving the timer doen't keep ticking it actually resets. Is this new? Because I thought it didn't reset.

OK, if anybody was wondering what happens when TG and OS are both semi-brain fried... ^^^^
And you can tell we're not very strict about off-topics.... :):):)

Definitely brain-fried as I initially moved your walkthrough from the HoR to here then had to move it back. And I'm not moving them because they're off topic as much as they're somewhat "involved". Well, at least we sorted things out on our own. :) Except I'm still wondering about the following,
EDIT: Just confirmed that despite the multiple text warnings that if you exit The Bat Cave and quit without saving the timer doen't keep ticking it actually resets. Is this new because I thought at some time it didn't reset.
EDIT: Just thought about another discussion involving fleeing in the Bat Cave (see posts prior to this discussion). I'm wondering if the timer was tweaked in conjunction with the flee change or if the GM may have inadvertently left something like the timer restrictor, for lack of a better word, "turned off"? Similar things have happened before.

He never learns. Must not be much room up there in his bat head. And speaking of oddities, why would a bat creature in a robe be a cause for alarm? Think it'd look pretty funny myself.

No it's not... only fashionable, no?... (Is it fashionable? Never paid close attention to fashion. There wouldn't be a point - it usually goes out of fashion by the time I'm dragged, or drag myself to a shop... ;-))

I don't pay any attention to fashion myself, but I think black is only fashionable when there isn't anything else currently being touted as "the new black". (As in "navy blue is the new black", or whatever.) Because once you have a "new black" in style, the "old black" (actual black, that is) is out of style, you see. :D
(I have no idea whether that's actually true, but it makes at least as much sense as anything else about fashion does...)
Besides, in fantasy games/literature, anybody you see in a Black Robe is clearly up to no good. Look at the Kurunds, for Srythak's sake!

Got it. :-)
Well, I'm wearing 'blending-grey,' myself...
It's all about shades of grey, you see...
Not too dark, not too light,
not all split in black and white...
And I think you might be right.
:-)
[edit] Repped for that fashion exposé... :-)
