TC are you saying you're getting the text box but none of the tools/icons on top or smilies on the side?
If so I wonder if your other account is similarly fouled. Also you're more savvy than I am by leaps and bounds but maybe changing your editor interface back and forth will do something or resetting the fields will do something. Under Edit Options.
And I'm on this account just because it's easier to check stuff since the staff account shows some stuff different.

TC check at the bottom left corner and you should get this - copy/pasted from this account so yours should be the same.

Hopefully that translates as I set my editor interface to advnaced for testing. Wondreing if yours says You may edit your posts. That would explain it or why. If not back to the drawing board.
Just previewed and this translates.

Yeah, just experimenting and taking reference screenshots.
Those options are as they should be (same as they appear for OS2).

TC have you tried other browsers or ran it with your add ons disabled?
And grasping here but maybe use the default skin.
Edit: And FYI to any/all this account and OS2 have the same permissions as in the copy/paste.

Oops, missed your first.
a) - Yep.
b) - Checking various options now. Within user options, I already tried (~yesterday) switching to WYZIWYG, then tested, "simple text box," then test, and "Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls" (the default that I'm using now), and retesting. While posting (prior to submitting) I'm in "Advanced Mode." While editing (after having submitted post, then trying to edit), I'm in basic mode, and switching to "Advanced" via the dedicated button is not possible, button is not functional (neither are the "Save" and "Delete" buttons functional - they don't do anything).
c) - Yeah, I know and figured you wanted to have the standard user privileges view.

Sure, like I said in General Chat. It's in FF, my standard for the forum, that this is occurring, not others I've tried. But it gets interesting from there. :-) (More later, after testing.)
Tried all skin forum skin options just for kicks, without effect.
Yeah, BB code on, HTML off - got it.

Tetra if you change from Firefox to IE do you have full functionality?
But if you switch back to Firefox does the problem reappear?
If so I may have found a fix but I'm wondering since it's re: phpBB forum software.
Anyhoo, here's the particulars (4th post down, can't link it from that post),
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=1449995&sid=12033f02c2d76a9ee9c0d1918143cf11&start=15

Now this is where it gets more interesting, because if I log in to srythforum .com instead of www_srythforum...
this
and this
this
and this
and this
and this
and this
this
right-align
this too
Well, everything works straight off the buttons, I don't have to type out code and features manually.
[edit!] So, here, on "srythforum.com" address, editing is possible - I'll be able to save it, which I cannot on "www" - advanced mode can be accessed, all direct-access BB code buttons work, deleting is also possible, &c., &c. Now saving this edit.

Makes me wonder about both SB's earlier posts especially since they have separate log ins per ShB's post.
Also I'm guessing you've already cleaned your cache maybe even using something like CCleaner?
And for ease of reference (for me at least)....
Those settings are the standard issue for all registered users. Big Sig users have the same settings.
About being logged off, it's possible that your browser enforces a maximum limit on the life of a cookie, or that a cleaning program/antivirus/etc has cleaned some or all of your browser's cookies. If that isn't so, then I'm at a loss. Anyway, it "fixed" itself, didn't it? Permissions have nothing to do with that (seeing yours, or anybody else's images, is dependent on "viewing" permissions). Almost 100% sure it's a browser-based problem.
About the signature pictures, I'm not sure if there is a problem there. You can link the pictures from your album with [IMG] tags. Is there anything you want to do with your signature that can't be done with the current settings?
Just a reminder: www.srythforum.com and srythforum.com have separate log ins, so you can be logged into one address and not logged in the other one.
Maybe there's a conflict between the cookies or one's overiding the other? If that's even possible or makes sense.

Haha! Not only that, but see my post (and edit!) above!
In fact it works in FF as well, so I'm guessing there's some messing, cos FF ain't seeming to be at fault.
Imma be so suspicious and paranomonoidistic now! :D:D:D:D:D
Well, ceytenly interesting, Beynie boy... (Hey, Bernie, I'm talking to you! ;))
(Bernie can't hear me now.)
Anyway, interesting trick all the same, regardless of 'causality and consequences.'
Cool. That's cool. :)

I'll check that too, now, thanks.
[edit] So their convo seems inconclusive to me, no solution discussed, that I can see. The messing may be done by IE settings/keyboard shortcuts in my opinion (lucIE, you got some 'splainin' to do!) - and like in Waits's song, the coffee (FF) is too weak to defend itself from the cutlet (? - IE)... Well, that won't do... I have to kick someone or something in the teeth today. Might be IE, or might be FF (for being such a .... weak-kneed push-over). May've to kick them both, restricting access to default settings for one, shaking awake the other...
I should risk more testing, but don't feel like it before figuring out a remedy.
Will try to look around while I let the matter simmer on low heat, for now. No paranomonomania, only distilled annoyance?... Bah, conspiracy theorists will be disappointed...

If I understand you correctly, you are missing this....
http://www.srythforum.com/picture.php?albumid=53&pictureid=526
......from either www.srythforum.com or syrthforum.com log-in?
If so, that's odd because I just checked both and I can see it.
If not, then I don't have a clue what you are talking about.....

Yes - from 'www' only. OK so...
Lost edit for post above while testing...
Anyway: messing with editing and these sandbox posts were a bit of fun - too stuffy outside - and there's a trail and a clue...
... except that:
a) only "www" is affected, and
b) (just a sec - I'll post this and wrap up something I'm testing)
OK, so:
b) only my account seems affected and only on www.srythforum.com, the regular address I use constantly, is affected by all this.
I just tested another vBulletin forum account of mine, and the issue doesn't exist even after replicating the process (FF to IE to FF log-in, posting, editing, etc.).
I also created a new account on yet another vBull forum, tested the whole process - again, no issues in either IE or FF.
So. It seems
a) only my account is affected
b) only on this vBulletin forum
c) only on the address that I regularly used in the past ("www.srythforum.com")
d) the issue appeared only yesterday
[edit] I'll do more testing, and some retesting as time and ideas allow. Thanks all!

Bump/mod notice:
TC et. al. renamed this thread for ease of reference and soft deleted posts not related to testing.
And a reminder of the Sandbox rules for folks (edited for clarity - the full rules are posted in the opening of this "section" here, http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?t=1048 (or click the carrot in the quoted (and edited) passage below.
