Was just wondering whether anyone knew the reward, or had the text for beating the demon serpent at the end of the quest "Footsteps" on Saarngard isle.

Thanks bud, unfortunately it only says that fighting it is a waste of time because of how much sp it has. Thanks regardless though, the wiki has so far answered about 99 percent of my unanswered questions.
Ah well, guess I'll hold off til I'm strong enough to take him down myself even if it does have 2000 sp :(

Well, I managed to defeat the serpent. Using everything at my disposal. 3 20s, 2 Quickstone Heals, 3 Blessings.

The corpse of the shadowy serpent shimmers brightly for a moment and then vanishes. Suddenly, another vicious hiss fills the air and you spin your head in the direction of the sound. Much to your horror, a second and even larger black-scaled serpent is emerging from the ring of fire!

With no desire to face a second of these massive snakes, you decide that the time has come to flee for your life.

Totally not worth it.

Speculation: One should get more combat xp via melee only but not a large amount. Either way, it's combat xp only and no set reward as with some high level foes.
