Hey all,

My new glasses should be here any day now. I joined a few months ago but had to stop playing because my eyes gave me wicked headaches. My wife and I made the trip to Walmart last week to pick new frames and what not and they should be here early next week. I can't wait to start adventuring again.

Good to hear that Yoopy. Hopefully I'll join the crowd as I've been needing new ones for awhile now but haven't had (or made) the time to do it.

Walmart called my wife yesterday and said the glass will be on the way tomorrow. Well tomorrow is now today so I should have my glasses today. It's been such a long time since I've bee able to see. I'm a bit embarrassed that they are bifocal but I guess that's all part of getting older.

Not to worry, Yoopy, I wear "progressive" lenses also. Welcome back :)

Same here although I'm hoping there are "bifocal contacts" that I can wear now. When I got my last set of glasses (which was my first set of bifocals) they had just came out so I opted to give them some time.

If not I'll go with glasses as wearing contacts and reading glasses defeats the purpose. I know some folks can wear a lense for "regular" seeing and another for reading but nobody I know that's tried that had it work.

I got a new prescription a couple of months ago for my first bifocals, but I haven't gotten around to ordering a pair yet. I'm way overdue for bifocals, actually; I've been having problems switching from far distance to near distance for some years now...

I had a nice pair of modern glasses (think Steven Colbert), but had the lenses changed before I realized my vision changes thre years ago were caused by type 2 diabetes. Frankly, I thought it was too pricey to get new lenses made, then I lost the pair I had anyway. So, I use my glasses from college - they're finally trendy, I only had to wait 20 years (lol).

Come now, Ned, they're not bifocals, they are PROGRESSIVE LENSES!! I feel very progressive when I wear mine :)

Ok I got my new glasses a week ago and I have to say..... I hate them. The bifocal line looks like a dirty smudge and I feel like I'm in a fish bowl. At least I can see over the line so I'm going to be adventuring again.

I haven't looked into the progressive option yet. As I understand it the main difference is that the lens gradually changes from one strength to the other, instead of having a sharp line between the two strengths. Is that any more expensive than plain bifocals? I'd think it would be, at least slightly.

Sounds like you might prefer progressive lenses yourself, Yoopy. But at least you can adventure again, yay! :D

I looked into the progressive lenses but my wife's insurance plan said no. Oh well. I'm getting used to the bifocals.

I think that they are a little more expensive, but my wife has a friend who gives us a big discount and so it works out for me.
