There's a Sryth newsletter?

I think we're automatically subscribed. I took no action on subscribing and found it in my inbox. If it's not there, try telling your e-mail provider that an e-mail you expected didn't go through.

Posted this in another thread but it applies here as well. I vaguely remember an option to receive email correspondence re: game updates/etc... when registering. I'm pretty sure this was the same when I started my non AG account more recently.

Well, I just clicked on the "Sign Up NOW!" link on the homepage and........

Check this box to receive Sryth™ email announcements, including a welcome message containing a bonus code redeemable for a valuable in-game bonus!

Dunno about folks that opted out on creation but I plan on posting anymore as I'm sure other members will as well.

Also may want to check spam folders or settings on your email accounts or list the sender as safe.

If you give your email address when you signed up for an AG account you get a nice EXP bonus.

and that bonus is 3,000 xp for an AG character and 1,000 if you take it for a character you don't make AG

that is character, not account.

Huh. I didn't get the newsletter via email. I've checked spam folders and everything. It's a gmail account; it shouldn't have been blocked by the ISP or anything.

I signed up for the newsletter when I joined this new board, but I didn't receive any kind of XP bonus. Did I make a mistake, or should I contact the DM?

The newsletter and the new board don't have anything to do with each other (other than the announcement), do they?

No, in fact if you click the forum link from the Sryth homepage, there is a boring disclaimer that says that the forum isn't directly affiliated with Sryth or something like that.

And Almathea, don't you mean "contact the GM"?

I guess I misunderstood: I thought that people who signed up for the newsletter got an XP bonus. And I didn't receive a newsletter until a few days after I joined this version of the messageboard... maybe it was a coincidence.

And the term DM just shows my age: I'm used to saying Dungeon Master rather than Game Master. It does allow for wordplay though: Carpe DM :D

There's more than a few of us "types" on here. There's also a Dungeons and Dragons social group (under community/social groups) on the forum.

When you sign up for email notifaction of stuff, you get sent a email with a bonous code that you can redeem an the "small windowless building with a blue door" in Hawklor, Tallinus, or Trithik.

Ah ha! Lightbulb moment (now with appropriate icon). You're referring to a bonus you get when you sign up for Sryth under "Create Your Account" and check the newsletter box, correct?

"Check this box to receive Sryth™ email announcements, including a welcome message containing a bonus code redeemable for a valuable in-game bonus!"

I guess that either I received that bonus long ago when I signed up, or the bonus just didn't exist at the time. I got confused because I received the "SRYTH EMAIL NEWSLETTER - ISSUE #1" a few days ago, which begins with the line "Welcome to the very first edition of the Sryth Email Newsletter!" and thought that was the welcome message mentioned above. The welcome message with the bonus code is a separate thing you receive when first signing up for Sryth, if I understand correctly.

Thanks for your patience,
Almathea

Yes. And I go through this all the time with my sisters.
