I would say that this is Seeker Castle, but I don't remember a river in the description.

Actually, I was tired of seeing "NEVER" for the last post, so I thought that I would post a picture of my "family" castle in Austria.

I'm not sure if it's just firefox or what, but I don't see any pictures, at least not in the post itself. They're all still there in your album though.

Looks a bit small...

What looks small, the picture or the castle?

If you mean the picture, I don't know how to make it bigger.

If you mean the castle, the picture was taken from about 3/4 to 1 mile away. The Danube is a little cold to wade into in March.

Well, I was talking about the castle.

I'm not well travelled but I've seen enough pictures to know, most castles were not all that wonderful and big like in fantasy books, etc. A lot were small and not so great.

And I use firefox too and can't see that pic, scout1idf

As for the size, the main part of the castle is 6 stories tall and then the turret adds a 7th. as for below, I didn't look. I don't speak German so my communication was limited to the youngest of their children and an occasional visit from their friends.

As for not seeing the picture, I'm also using Fire Fox and I can see it. I don't know if that's because it's in my picture album or what it is. I'll look at my settings and maybe PM Havoc to see what he say's.

For those who can't see the picture in the post, I've added an attachment of it.

Thanks.

I just wish that I could go back there some day, preferably in summer this time!! (Money is the problem. The Army got me to Europe the last time.)

This is the closest pic I can find to what Wyrmfire Place looks like.

No royalty in my family, but I have a friend who is a descendant of Scottish royalty. The family went with the wrong side in one of Scotland's many civil wars and lost a lot of their land, but they still have the ancestral castle.

My friend's mother went on a tour of Scotland a few years back, and one of the stops happened to be the family ancestral castle. When she told the owners that she was an American relative, they were very excited and put her up in the royal suite. The rest of the tour stayed in what used to be the dungeon. All of them were complaining about the accomodations - his mom never knew why until they left.

Haha, yeah, I don't suppose former dungeons are too cheery or comfortable no matter how much remodeling you do to them. I hope they at least put some modern beds in them! :)

I recently found out the translation for "oubliette".

The reason I mention this is that I used the term in one of my stories, without knowing the exact connotations.

It means more than I realised... anyone want to fill out the interpretation to English?

I know about oubliettes, I think. The word comes from the French 'oublier', meaning 'to forget'. An oubliette was a pit in the dungeons, with no way out except the hole at the top. The idea was that it was where you put prisoners that would be 'forgotten': in other words, you put them in there and left them to starve.
