However, next time get your priorities straight - Sryth first, school second (lol).

I went supermarket shopping, carried groceries to the nearest bus stop and alighted said public means of transport.

It was about 5pm, so the bus I hopped on was full of commuters heading home after work.

I was concentrating on not bumping my grocery bags against fellow commuters as I made my way to an empty seat, so I wasn't doing eye-contact.

I sat down and did what most people do on a crowded bus... which is to stare vacantly at nothing-in-particular. But, my ears zeroed in on a conversation between two people in the seat directly across the aisle. It was an innocuous conversation; two strangers chit-chatting about mundane stuff.

Some of their conversation had me mentally nodding agreement or otherwise to certain points made.

The bus arrived at my stop, which also happened to be the same stop as the male who I'd been eavesdropping on. He stood up and made his way to the exit, allowing me space to rise likewise... and that's when I saw the person he was talking to.

It turned out to be Nikki, a girl I once shared an apartment with (10 years ago?) I did a double-take and said, "Hey, you!"

She'd seen me get on the bus, but noticed I hadn't looked her way and couldn't interupt her conversation with the stranger to attract my attention.

With a newly emptied seat beside her, she patted the chair in invitation for me to sit beside her.

What could I do? It was also my stop and I was half way out of my seat ready to exit the bus. On a whim, I sat next to her.

"This is my stop," I said, "But I'll get off at the next one. You've got about one minute to give me your phone number."

The practical upshot of that chance meeting was a very pleasant brunch date at a nearby cafe, with promises to do it again.

Now, why am I posting this here? For the same reason it's always a delight to see a long-absent forum member re-visit us.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I've never been a part of a society of such cool people as this Sryth forum. The cameraderie existent here is truly wonderful, including people of all ages, race and geographical location.

Nikki and I have always been good friends, and that's exactly how I feel about all of you.

I don't mean to gush; it's just how I feel.

I believe that is by and large reciprocal, Badstench - or hope it is. And that's a nice afternoon's anecdotal story - I'm glad you'd reconnected with a friend from past days, whose company you find pleasing. Good luck rekindling and exploring that acquaintanceship, friendship... relationship.

And in the same friendly spirit: welcome back, Andras (András?), whom I may not know, but read (and seen? Is yours the image of Hawklor, or am I preoccupied?) all the same.

Heed Tex's words for now. TG's later, when necessary - or forced... :)
