Hello everyone,

I am relatively new, but I feel like I am catching on fast. Only one problem I cannot seem to solve.

Where do I sell magical items and get a fair price for them? I have some items valued at over 10k gold and the highest offer I get is for 400 gold.

I mean if we can't even get 30%, what do we do with them? Is there something else I can do with them, like say break them down to get magical components to make something else? I don't think that option exists but then again I am new.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would recommend not selling them at all. But if you MUST sell them, then I would suggest Brynivers or Mezryal (both of Trithik, Mezryal requires a quest to unlock) or possibly Gryphook's (in Tryndmoor).

Hi thunderw, and welcome!

If you haven't already, I'd recommend taking a look at the wiki: http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item_Selling_Guide. It'll help you get the maximum prices for your loot.

The general wisdom is that selling magical items is a bad idea, as you never know what you'll need later on.

I hear what you both are saying but I mean like weapons with a +4 - +10 MR and no stats.... or items that give you stat bonuses for stats you already have at 20. etc.

Or Demonic Weapons like that crazy staff that I turned myself demonic before realizing I had an evil weapon and what it does to you. It's valued at 50k. And I can't imagine that I want to ever use it again as I dont want to be demonic alignment. :(

Yeah we all want better prices for our stuff, but even if you're AG the max (for most things) is 1,925. Some sells for higher (at Bryniver's & Mezaryl).

And now there's the Owlnook Tavern which gives GREAT prices -- but it costs an AT, which nobody likes to give up for mere gold. AND the steep cost only buys you access to the shop for a limited time.

In the end -- store your "junk" in a Dwelling/Residence, and be reminded (gently) that grinding is your friend.

And remember: even if you don;t use an item now that doesn;t mean it will never be of use to you. What if in the future you could trade it for something better, or use it to pay someone with it?

For the love of god do not sell that demonic wep of yours. You can get one that makes you saintly and is in any case better.

Edit:The demonic wep gives you +22 MR and +4 SP. The Saintly one can give you up to 24MR and 5 SP.

Well thanks for all the good tips.

Question that I thought of.

Can I trade with other players? Would they maybe be willing to pay more for one of these cast away magical items of mine? And if so, how would I go about do ing that?

Thanks everyone again for the feedback.

I wish. Trade has not, and likely will not be implemented in a while.

And if you find a "crappy" staff called Tzal-Tolath, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T SELL IT!

And I also wish that we could trade PtP.

Definitely I would advise against selling any unique items you get despite their description or boosts. A few items have hidden non-listed powers and others are required for other game content. Also if you haven't bought that rusty longsword or the Jarix Stone form the peddler in Kolnia do so and do NOT sell either or any cloudy blue gemstones you come across. Once you've run through all the first run content and been around a bit you'll get a feel for what's what.

If you have sold anything key the GM is normally very understanding and can restore items to character inventories.

A few items I can think of,

Tzal-Toalth, Ghor-Tiln's Eye and any of the four items that Mezaryl requires. See this link for more details.

Personally I would not trade the Medallion of Phase Form as it has a hidden power that transforms you into another creature boosting your MR. This power is definitely erratic and appears random and the creature type/MR boost appears to increase with your character level and/or MR.

I sold an assload of my quest items like Wither blade and a number of rings because I figured I wouldn't need them anymore. Honestly, the chances of actually needing them in the future are practically nil.

That's what you say. You can store all the unique items if you have a Residence. And remember, Grinding is your best friend:)

Oh, I was wondering what those Tablet fragments were about.

Yes, the Gamemaster is extraordinarily understanding. I sent him an e-mail once, because I fought a Proving Grounds battle with the Demonscourage and lost,(Forgot to re-equip my Shimmering Silver Longsword from my last battle with Xarakk.) and asked if there was anything he could do about that. He deleted the loss from my Proving Grounds record. I aced the battle once I had my primary weapon equipped.

The Eye shards are part of a quest. once you have 4 there is a snail in lower Tarn that has one, and you can get the other three from the stone slab take them to Tallys at his cottage, and then go to Trithik

Yeah, but the tablet fragments are something different. They're part of the whole sword thing that hasn't been completed yet.

Just noticed that the fence in the Owlnook Tavern now required 2 AT's for 1 week of services!

I think it has been 2 ATs for a while.

Yeah, what's up with that guy? Does he actually have anything remotely worth coughing up precious ATs just to look at?

thingirl

I don't think that he has anything to sell, but he holds a fence that could possibly pay high prices for your stuff that you want to get rid of.

Which is pointless now that we have a gold cap...

Good point. How much do you have, Shadowblack?

Since the gold cap went into effect, I've been saving only +5 or better armor and storing it in my residence. I have equipment worth about 300k at Graldok/Tryndmoor prices stored there .

That equipment would probably yield more like 700k from the Owlnook fence.

Must admit i had a mountain of magic stuff which went to the fence, making me rich.

Luckily I dont think i sold anything needed later on..

I think if a lot of these items became needed for other quests later on in the game the GM may place them with certain rare item sellers for an extortionate buy back fee. That way people dont miss out on content.
