I have coppied down the text for Tallys' apperance in Blade Square. The spoiler within the spoiler is the description of the item.

On the northern side of the square, a large wooden platform has been newly-erected. Brightly-coloured banners adorn the sides of the platform, giving it the appearance of a grand stage.

A sizeable crowd is gathered before the platform. Standing atop the structure, attired in a purple tunic, his head covered by a gaudy plumed hat, is the unmistakable figure of Tallys. The retired master adventurer moves his hands about in an animated fashion as he appears to address the onlookers.

* Approach the platform...

As you approach the platform Tallys spots you and immediately moves to the edge of the stage. He leans down and hands you a small, flat piece of hammered copper. An 'E' has been stamped into the top of the copper piece.

ITEM You've acquired: Tallys's Copper Token
* Class: Misc
* Encumbrance: 0

This is the small piece of hammered copper that was given to you by Tallys in Blade Square. An 'E' has been stamped onto the top of it.

This token will entitle its holder to a substantial discount on the Tome of Attainment -- a powerful artifact that Tallys will soon be offering for sale.

Don't let this token out of your sight! There are those who would stick at nothing to get their hands on one of these...

"At last," he says, rolling his eyes in the direction of those gathered before the platform. "I've been waiting for you to arrive, Alanne. It is a treat to be sure to finally deal with someone in possession of some civility."
*Please continue...

Tallys tells you that those who have so far come by to lay claim to one of his copper tokens have largely been an unruly mob.

"Not like the days now lost to the past," he says with a sigh. " There are many who wish to call themselves 'adventurers', but very few indeed who are deserving of the honour the title implores. Folk like you, Alanne, are the last real hope for carrying the banner of the professional adventurer forward to meet the future. Ah well, perhaps I'm more bitter about some of the unsavoury aspects of the present era than I ought to be. After all, I can recall the old timers saying much of the same when I was a young swordsman, tromping through the woods, chasing down goblins, poking my nose into ogre dens..."

* Please continue...

Tallys reaches out and taps the copper token still resting in the palm of your hand.

"Keep that safe, mind," he says. "That will grant you a substantial discount on the Tome of Attainment, which I came across years ago, and which I've just discovered -- with a bit of help -- how to replicate."

You ask Tallys about the nature of the tome, but he seems reluctant to say any more about it.

"I'll have it at my trading post soon enough," he says. "I confess to know very little about it myself, though I'm certain you'll learn all about its secrets."

Intrigued by the prospect of soon being able to acquire the tome, and thankful to have received one of Tallys's special tokens, you bid the master adventurer farewell.

"Don't be a stranger, Alanne," he calls after you as you turn to leave. "Stop by the trading post anytime! Go well!"

* Please continue...
After that, you end up back in Blade Square, and you can't go back to the platform.

He wants me to stop by the post again soon? How'm I supposed to do that when he's already got all my tokens? Heh heh.

Any idea what "E" stands for - and has anyone got a token with different markings?

I've also gotten E, I think it's like that for all of them. Judging from the description, I suspect that we may be subject to attacks like the ones in Graldok.

I got an "E" too, and I'm hoping the attacks are more like the gold goblin attacks last Halloween.

Ooh, I hope so, bring it on, if that is the case.

"E" times four characters.

Wondering about the E myself - got brain freeze but I'm wondering if it's tied to some of the ongoing adventured that have been getting updated recently like Fogbough, Tarn, Battlegrounds. Can't currently think of but one "E" reference. I immediately though of big E aka Ezerok. Which reminds me is he still "missing". Wishful thinking on my part proabably but considering Joddelle's glowing goblin reference that is when he reappeared last time.

I think I may have stumbled upon the significance of the "E" in the "Where is Teek thread". Remember the Axe of Bramble isn't one of the E's in T*E*E*K "missing"? We are looking for him and when we find him the coin melds into the axe and makes it (he id's it for those that haven't yet) into an uber weapon to join the ranks of the Finger and Wand but Tally's want's it for the Tome. Then Rokmokkora shows up wanting our now melded coin and..........

Boy I really need to switch to decaf. :cool:

Mine has an "E" also. I hope it does not have anything to do with Teek's axe because When I found the axe I had already done PGV so I could not have the axe Id by Teek. I also sold the axe as soon as I saw Teek's shop was closed. I wish I had looked at the Wiki a whole lot sooner than I did when I first started playing.

Dang it, yet another limited-time event that I completely missed by not logging in at all last week. I've got to start dropping by more often again...

I think you can still get the Tome of Attainment, it will just cost more.

Drat. My laptop dies first thing Saturday morning, my husband's using his computer all weekend (till now) and the GM chooses this moment to run the shortest limited-time event ever. :(

EDIT: Cancel that - I can now find this event :) Must have been a temporary glitch.

Dooli, just tell him to move over and give you the computer. I (hubby) usually comply "willfully" with my wife's demands. :)

Have a rep for excellent husband behaviour!

(I would have booted him off for a bit, except that I'd have felt too guilty - I'm swanning around with plenty of Srything time all week, and he's commuting to Russia...)

Back on Tallys, it looks like it wasn't just me who couldn't access this for a bit, given Young Ned's post above. Did anyone else have a problem?

Everyone, I just visited Blade Square with a character I created today, and I got a copper token! He hasn't left yet! I think...

Thanks for the rep Dooli. I try my best! It isn't easy being a good hubby; but is is fun and very much worth it!
