Gahhh...Great my character has Stoneskin Fever! I tried to find any info on a cure and came up with nothing. So any help would be appreciated! I tried drinking from the flask of Hammertongue but that seems to help only for a little while. If the answer is too much of a spoiler please PM me! Thanks!!! :)

As far as I know there is no cure yet. I wouldn't worry about it.

Actually...there is a cure. A quickstone eliminates the symptoms from ever appearing again in 99 out of 100 cases.

The exceptions are those lazy bums who rest when they don't need to.

Alanne's young enough that I will ask the dumb question. What's Stoneskin Fever?

"The slow-progressing, but horrific and ultimately deadly affliction known as Stoneskin Fever has long plagued all of Sryth, though it is most prevalent throughout the North Broadlands .

The "stone sweat" as it is sometimes referred to, usually begins with a mild fever, aches, and a nagging cough. It is slow to progress, but usually ends with the petrification of the skin of the afflicted -- and death.

A special mixture of several healing components, including lyoga root , has been used (with somewhat limited success) to cure those stricken with the fever."

Anyways, around a year and a half ago, stoneskin fever was spotted in Trithik. Several people had died of it by the time the report came in (or at least according to the report), but soon the affliction appeared to have spread to one of Tysa's largest populations: Adventurers. Many adventurers displayed symptoms of the disease until finally, it was almost completely forgotten because no adventurers or for that matter, anyone, had since the initial report, succumbed to the deadly disease. However, novice adventurers are occasionally seen with the symptoms of the deadly disease though...

Thanks, even dumber: does it have any effects on resting?

no, but it does make interesting flavor text.

All this reminds me (from the old forums current ongoing questions to the GM)....

Hawk steps forward and asks, "Is Stoneskin Fever still viable game content? Since it is AG only and most, if not all, players end up with a quickstone the addition of the quickstone autorest has made it nearly nonexistent. Also a short time prior to the autorest feature it's effects went from everytime one rested to what appeared to be entirely randomly."

My hunch is that SSF was intended to be part of the game to discourage over-grinding in axepath (where the fever is caught). And I think that GM unwittingly healed us all with the QS autorest. I don't think the GM intended for QS's to put an end to our illness!

If I'm not mistaken the illness is caught, by us at least, somewhere in Trithik.

Either way, Elrond I hope you're right in regards to the GM's intentions. I'm all for wrapping up loose ends but hopefully the auto-rest isn't the GM's way of dealing with SSF. Because if it is, to me, that would mean he intends for it to basically "die on the vine". I'd rather have a loose end than a snipped one. That's the primary reason for my question regarding it. One thing that really has me wondering is the tweak to it's appearance rate shortly before the auto-rest feature went live.

The fever is, or was, caught in Axepath? I've never heard that theory before. I know my characters never catch it until the start visiting Trithik.

I've heard the theory. It was in connection with the Hall of Seven Ghouls. Supposedly, if you fought through it, there was a correlation between that location and getting sick. But according to the official announcement regarding the fever, it is caught in Trithik. Blade Square was specifically mentioned.

I guess I'll have to use Restro on Mezryal then. (Or maybe Tallys will catch the fever and there will be an adventure to cure him [use of Restro 70+ get big XP or scrounging in the woods to fing healing herbs then use woodsmanship for big XP] and he will give me ATs and possibly some AS&P XP :D)

Thanks for the info and duly repped. Can't be 100 percent positive as I wasn't aware of this theory and therefore wasn't looking to test it but I'm nearly positive my secondaries got it before running 7 Ghouls after visiting Trithik.

Same here. I started LnFlavia only a few days ago and she already has stoneskin fever. While it is true that she has run Axepath cemetery, she also has only gone through the first few stages, and has not even made it to the crypt yet.
