Hi.
I was wondering if you lovely awesome people could advise me as to which weapon to aim to get. right now I have one of Iakors weapons. I do also have Tzal-toalth but don't know if it's worth joining the adventurer's collective and such to acquire one of the gems to enhance the weapon. I am guessing I will have to join the collective at some oint but is there anything I can get till then from a quest that's more powerful than the Iakors weapon I have right now?

The Iakor's weapon or the Shimmering Silver equivalent are the best "free" weapons in game overall. You can boost them by dipping them in Tarn's fountain but if you dip an Iakor's it fouls the pool and drinking from it will hurt you (lower SP) and not restore it or NR.

Aside from the Iakor's there are some other good "free" vs. specific foes or scaled weapons which in the right circumstances rival the Iakor's/SSseries against those specific foes.

A couple examples being Trielra's Staff for undead/shadows/demons and Demonscourge vs. demons. Demonscourge being the preferred of the two vs. demons.

RE: joining the collective and Tzal-Toalth. Definitely join the Collective as for Tzal-Toalth my opinion even though I rarely use it is yes. But it seems Merzeryl will pay AT's for Tzal-Toalth provided you do it soon enough,

And again not doubting Jimyred but if anyone can confirm this please post with the text spoilered if possible. Thanks in advance.

Wow I didn't know about dipping the weapon in the fountain, can you only do it once? I don't mind about not being able to use the pool, I will just go back to the savespot. I do have demonscourge which I use against demons, and the creyn blade I use against undead stuff.

Yep once is it and be advised once you dip it if you trade your Iakor's you'll lose the bonus and the fountain will stay fouled and you won't be able to re dip it or reacquire the bonus.

At least the last time I tested it it was still like that and even if you cleanse the Iakor's at Talinus it still won't clean the pool or allow you to reacquire the bonus.

And if anyone swaps an Iakors make sure your 7Goblins bonus isn't attached as it'll go with the swap but won't be transferred.

And for anyone interested here's the thread re: cleansing Iakor's weapons, http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?t=1277

For the record Voltan's still toting around his fully foul Iakor's Deathblade in true RP fashion.

Iirc I queried the GM about the possibility of losing the Tarn bonus on swapping an Iakors but stressed I hadn't actually done it. I would imagine he would fix it on a case by case basis if necessary. Still if I were going to do so I'd check first to be safe.

Alignment is not an issue for me, Chloe being evil is perfectly fine. I really rather the Iakor weapon than the shimmering counterpart anyways. Facinating stuff OS, thank you.

You should also acquire the Hale Blade, Watershadow. Invaluable piece, as its power is to heal you. Quite often! And it can even heal you fully, as the Quickstone heal - random occurrence, but unlike the Quickstone's healing, limited to two each day, this one can happen, theoretically, an infinite number of times.

Not as powerful as Iakor's weapons of their Shimmering Silver counterparts, but another definite must-have.
And it only costs gold - a straightforward purchase once you can afford it - concentrate on 'the ring' for now, of course.

As to the Adventurers Collective: there is an item you can find in Axepath, which you can exchange at the Collective, and have the initial AT cost of joining refunded! Good deal, no? :)

Ok TC, I am getting closer and closer to that ring but after that definitely I will do that. That's neet I improved my Iakors carver! Yay! how do you do that goblin thing OS was talking about?

Oh, that... :) Do you mind spoilers? If not, here's the Wiki link:

7 Goblins series of quests (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/7_Goblins)

The individual adventures are all over the place, so you'll need the guide, I think, and from the linked page (not much that could be considered a spoiler there) you can access details about each instalment (plenty of spoilers there). Leave a word it you should hit a hurdle.

And congrats on your 'Super-Iakor cutlery!' (Better than Ginsu! ;))

TC I never mind spoylers, thank you.
:)
I have done the first five but oddly enough for some reason I can't access the sixth. it says it's in the goblin claw inn in the common room, when I click on adventures for this location I don't see it there.

You're welcome, Watershadow. :)

Hmm... Do you get the option that says:

"Take a seat in the common room..." ?

You've done the "Caves of Westwold" (and "7 Goblins - parts I through V") obviously, because without that you couldn't even have begun this series...

If so, we'll need backup on this: is there another prerequisite for "7 Goblins - Part VI" that was missed, anyone?

I found the solution, thank you TC. It doesn't say it on the wiki but you have to clear out the cellar first. I didn't know that. Cleared it out and then after encountering a man with bone die I found it under adventures for this location, exactly where you said it should be TG.
:D

Good. :) By clearing out the cellar you mean doing the quest named "Into the Cellar" I assume - in which you need to recover the innkeeper's brother's shield?

Yes TC, that's the one, retrieve the shield after killing all the buggies. I thought I had done that one previously, but obviously not. ;)

Happens. :) Did you get to "Lift the Box" yet? Assassin's bracelet or ATs?

No I did not, but I should huh?

Tetracapillactomist

Absolutely! But I'll get you the link.

The Goblinclaw Inn (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Goblinclaw_Inn)

There you go: the whole string - everything tied to "The Goblinclaw Inn," I think... yep, even the 'creepy old man' and his die or dice (only one, is it? - you've seen him recently :))

Just pay attention to the MR required - it's a mixed bag.

And think carefully what you choose: the bracelet or the ATs... There are much better bracelets, true (including another free one, Iakor's - though as you know, I think, taking that means giving up other things, possibly worth more for you), but since it comes to a net cost of (giving up) 8 ATs, "the price can't be beat."

In any case, some thinking to do, before you decide. :)
