When I first started viewing the wiki for information I recall reading about an item that permanently increases a stat such as Luck (if it was 18 or less, I think). Days later, I completely forgot what that item is and I can't retrace my steps to getting back to that page. Does anyone know what that item is? I remember that it was acquired early in the game from one of the really minor quests.

Elixir of the Torrent from Stoneback Hill (which is not really a minor adventure).

I remember it was from "The Secret of Stoneback Hill." I think it was called Elixir of the Torrent.

Elixir of the Torrent from Stoneback Hill (which is not really a minor adventure).
My mistake. Not knowing which adventure it was from, I assumed the simplest case. I'm still learning not to assume so much in the face of insufficient data. :)
Thanks for the info.

I need the Elixir of the Torrent because my Luck was the only stat at 19 with all my equipment equipped. When I unequipped everything, much to my dismay I had quite a few 19s and even one 18. If I'm not mistaken the elixir boosted one randomly so I was prepared to reload my game any number of times to get Luck boosted. Lo and behold, on my first try it boosted Luck! Now how's that for luck? :)

Accutally, the Elixir boosts one stat that is 18 or lower by 2 unless you have all 19s and 20s (boo Tharvald). In that case, it boosts 1 (ONE) stat that is at 19 by 1.

That's my point: My stats when unequipped were 19 18 20 20 19 19 19. So, by what the wiki says it should have boosted my Body at 18 to 20. But it boosted my Luck (19) instead. Go figure.
I have another question. This may not be the best place for it, but here goes.
My MR with no weapon equipped is 110 (due to other equipment too, of course). When I equip Trielra's Staff (listed below), my MR stays at 110. The staff seems to do nothing. Is it bugged or do I have to do something else to it first? Or is it because of my Unarmed Combat? When I equip my Shimmering Silver Longsword my MR goes back up to 120. Since the staff is only 2 MR less than the sword, shouldn't my MR be 118 when I equip the staff?
Trielra's Staff
* Class: Weapon, Staff
* Encumbrance: 8
* Quality: Magical
* Power: Energy Drain
* Melee Rating: +20, and +15 extra vs. Demons, and +12 extra vs. Undead, and +11 extra vs. shadow
* Aura: +2
* Mind: +1
* Spirit: +1
* Nevernal Reserve: +4
This wooden staff was once the mighty weapon of the demoness, Trielra. After your defeat of Trielra, in a contest forced upon you by Runeskin, you took possession of this ancient and powerful instrument of death.
Due to the magical nature of this grand weapon, the staff may be wielded as a one-handed weapon.
This weapon is of magical quality.

First the Elixir boost is completely random and will boost any stats that are 18 or 19 (unadjusted) to 20.
Secondly, I'm not a combat mechanic guru (we have several on here) but depending on your Unarmed and Weaponry and associated subskill your MR may be higher while unarmed then when wielding even the "better" weapons.

What are your skills in Unarmed Combat, Weaponry: Slashing, and Weaponry: Staves.
When you are fighting Unarmed your MR is: Base MR + MR bonuses from equipment + MR boost from your Unarmed Combat skill.
When you're fighting with a weapon, it's: Base MR + MR bonuses from equipment (including weapon) + MR boost from your Weaponry skill + MR boost from the appropriate Weaponry Subskill.
EDIT: I take a long time to type.
@ Oldschool, you beet me to it.
@ Maskull, if you post your skill numbers and MR boosting Items, someone (not me) might calculate your MR when unarmed and when wielding Trielra's (and even when wielding SSL).

You solved it for me, thingirl. I see I need to get the Staves skill. Thanks for your time on this.

The GM did a tweak to the Elixir of the Torrent some time ago. It will boost stats that are at 19 or lower. Before the change is when it would only boost stats at 18 and lower.
