This might have been bandied about just as easily between the staff, but in the interest of inclusitivity.....

New content was added to Axepath which was the catalyst for this thread/question.

Currently we have several replayables that all have their own threads. The majority of these threads contain mostly reward brags. Which isn't a problem and is completely acceptable. In fact that's the only reason most of them was created.

However when content is added (as with the recent Axepath addition and thinking specifically of Tarn which has new content yet to come) it's also added to the specific thread which contains various amounts of reward posts.

I see three possibilities for thread "management".

One, keep the status quo.

Two, create specific threads just for replayable rewards, brags and separate threads for actual content "stuff" (the residence reward/residence renovations threads come to mind).

Three, create "marker" threads like Tetra did for the recent Axepath stuff. And in addition a mod note can also be added in the opening post listing and linking post numbers similar to what TC did in the marker thread. Or more specifically like was done in the AAM/Halloween threads that cover multiple years/events.

As far as the existing threads Tarn (which is split over both forums) and this recent Axepath addition are the only ones that really apply. Fogbough is mostly content. The Hall of Ruin's rewards are static provided you obtain them so there's no reward posts. Most of the others were preexisting content prior to this forum's creation so aside from question/answer exchanges there's not much content posts and no new content posts.

I think it's six of one half dozen of the other so I'm open to suggestions, feedback, etc...

Splitting rewards threads could be a good idea.

I'm not sure why, instead of a placeholder post, we don't just put something in the "Game Updates" thread, just marking it as an unannounced update.

I kinda thought the existing Replayables threads were specific for rewards and brags, especially as you say that's the main reason most of them were created. So I could go for the idea of creating separate threads for new content, or discussing things other than rewards and brags for that matter. However...

I thought Tetra's marker thread was a great idea; that possibility hadn't even occurred to me before. That plus mod notes as in the AAM/Halloween threads would be a perfectly good solution, too, as far as I'm concerned. Whichever method means less maintenance work for the mods & admins would be fine.

Yes, with Tarn I think we created the content thread in the main Adv Lounge first, and then added the rewards thread in Replayables later.

By the law of minimum management effort, marker threads are the way to go.

Now the "marker" thread has become THE thread for the new adventure (and I see someone renamed it, which helps) (sorry, I think I confused it with the other thread). And there is a second thread in the main forum which should probably be merged. Not sure this is less management-intensive...

I'll merge 'em after I get caught up on my surfing (which is 2 pages deep of threads ).

And in light of Scar's post and after thinking about it marker threads are probably the way to go - at least for threads already developed.

Best case scenario would be to have separate threads (imo) but for the ones already out it'd would be "easier" to use marker threads (and mod notes in the opening post(s)).
Specifically thinking of Tarn and a few others that are fairly deep. Plus when merging/splitting there's always continuity issues. I'm thinking of the amount of quoting needed with just the 20'ish? or so posts from the FB/Twitter threads. Can't imagine the amount of double posting (via quoting) that probably would be needed if we split the moderate to very deep threads.

Still haven't got 'round to mergin' the threads yet but haven't forgot.

I'll take a look later when my brain isn't so frazzled and I've got a bit more times since just merging them outright may put things outta sync. Plus a mod edit with thread "directions" in the original Axepath thread is warranted.
