This isn't exactly a brag, but it felt somehow like an event worth recording. I decided, after some consideration, to retire (delete) Amir and Vylix from my character roster. There are a variety of reasons, which are probably only of interest to me, but they've both been with me since Jan/Feb 2009 (same as Xaran, not accounting for early restarts) so a part of me is sad to see them go.

Whew! I thought that you were leaving. While I am glad that you are not, I feel your pain about saying goodbye to your characters.

Same as Spencer, PA! Gave me a start... ("Another?!...")
Well, still 'saddish' news, deleting long-existent characters... (Sadder still if I think of others that have been deleted [?] already, or may be deleted in the future...)

My first character was named "Hercules." I then rerolled and got "Lancelot."
I never played with "Hercules," except that I had to enter the game to delete him.
RIP.

No worries, I would have posted in a main forum if I were going away...

Same here - a bit of a start. Glad to hear you aren't leaving. Condolences on their retirement, but I'm sure you'll enjoy running their descendants.

Part of my motivation was definitely how much fun it was to replay things from the beginning with all the new content in place.
Feel free to edit my title if it's causing consternation. (I don't think I can...)

The title's ok, unless you want to change it. Actually, I got a somewhat giddy (and relieved) chuckle out of it when I realized you weren't leaving.
Btw, regular members can edit thread titles they created by using the advanced edit feature on the opening post which will show the post title which in the case of an opening post is the thread title. Not sure if a regular member can click the thread title from the menu screen which opens up an edit field, but I seem to think that the thread's creator can do that (but not sure).
EDIT: Just tested and confirmed (and I seem to recall one of the admins tweaking it) that the thread creator can edit a title by clicking it via the menu.

I'll join the chorus of 'phew', and just raise a glass to your departing heroes... :)

In the Tom Lehrer Songbook, which contains the music and lyrics to nearly every song Tom Lehrer ever wrote, the song "Bright College Days" contains this lyric and footnote:
"To thee we sing, with our glasses raised* on high!"
_______________
*Takes off spectacles and holds them in air with one hand.
I've never been able to think of that phrase the same way since. :D

Wow. I've known that song for more years than I can remember, but only as a recording, so I never knew about that gesture. Thanks! (raises glasses in appreciation) :)

Heh, you're welcome. :) I presume that's why, on the live recording, the crowd roars with laughter after that particular line. I never realized why they were laughing there until I read the Songbook.
