Some posts on the old forum had me wondering about this from time to time and more recently a couple posts on this forum sparked that curiosity anew.

From old posts it seems at least at one time there was either a "test" server and/or accounts.

To anyone, was or is this still the case?

IF not I think this would be a good idea. Several players (you know who you are and most of us do as well ;)) routinely test things in great detail and selflessly share that knowledge often in equally detailed fashion like on the wiki, etc.... This is often at the sake of restarting AG characters at the loss of whatever that character has achieved I might add.

True, no one makes these players do this and I'm sure some do for the enjoyment the endeavor itself brings them. For whatever reasons, I'm glad they do and thankful as well. Also, I'd wager that these folks don't do it expecting any type of remuneration.

Furthermore, while most things can be reacquired given enough time some cannot. Limited event, raffle, etc items, xp and ATs come readily to mind. Besides the time spent testing could be used on their main/regular characters.

These folks could also help the GM with testing therefore helping free up more of his time for other game matters. Something I hope everyone would welcome.

It wouldn't make a difference to me but for anyone interested in such things these characters could be flagged so as not to appear on leaderboards, rankings, etc....

So what do you think?

I think it's a good Idea. Alanne would NEVER restart Just for the purpose of testing. However, she does like to copy texts for stuff. And she WOULD have tested The Eye that Binds IF she could have gotten the eye shards.

This is tangential, but I sent a suggestion to the GM back when Blizzard of the Hills was rereleased that limited time items be made "sticky" so that even if you restart your character they would still be there. Never got a response from him, though... :( (Never got a response when I emailed him about the newsletter a few weeks ago, either. I'm starting to wonder if he's getting my emails...)

Brilliant idea on stickying the limited time events. Definitely worthy of a rep once I'm allowed.

Good idea, but I suspect this will cause some programming troubles for the GM... After all, you can't even receive your AT from donations without a private mail request when restarting.

*sigh* From my own experiences of mailing the GM, "no reply" means NO / Not anytime soon... Once I really hoped I could persuade him into changing the mechanism of Haunting in Durnsig...:(
