I suggested this on some other forum (called Proboard or something) and I include it here with the same hopes it hasn't been suggested before. Here goes...

Tysa must have the least imaginative fletchers in all of existence. I vaguely remember one of the dreadstone scenarios with that odd fellow that shot poison-tipped arrows that killed his targets nigh outright. How come we don't have something like that?

I would like to see more bows in the game. How about bows that get bonuses for the type of creature being shot, such as an arbalest that does more than tickle dragons, or one with stringed arrows you can use to fetch something at a distance? Fire bows, frost bows, hasting and slowing bows, the list could go on. It's rather unusual that a world as complex as Tysa has more rangers than distance weapons.

Come on, Mr. Yarrow, please flesh out this sorely lacking field of mass destruction...

This might be expanded upon during the upcoming Archery Tournament.

It would be kinda cool to have a boltsling, or enchanted bows to go along with the arrows. Since they look like they're adding and archery tourney at Zumryn's, as well as the Lists of Talwarden, it'd be kinda cool to expand upon archery. Hunting tourneys and the such. It gets a pretty fair amount of use during scenarios.

Does it seem odd to anyone else that winning Talwarden gives no specific XP to Archery?

Yes! Although, had the GM started giving rewards other than general or AS&P at that point?

Perhaps not, as I have the impression that Talwarden was one of the earliest adventures written.

I don't think Archery really needs to be altered as a skill, but it would be nice to gain a bow cooler than a run-of-the-mill "short bow."

Perhaps when the Border Ranger quest line gets expanded, one of the quests could be fletching your own bow that, while not impacting your Archery skill, gives some small passive bonuses to stats while carrying it. Like, say, +1 SP for the 1st, 4th, and 7th levels in the BR guild, +1 MR for the 2nd, 5th, and 8th levels, and +1 NR for the 3rd, 6th, and 9th levels, at a max of +3 to each at the top level of 9 within the Border Rangers rank structure.

Nice idea Roggs. I'd even settle for some different types just for flavor.

I was hoping that winning the recent archery tournament at the battlegrounds would have won me a magical bow that was the archery equivalent of the fizzlebane rings: i.e. you can not fail an archery check.
