Coming to her senses, Daisy Mae realized she was standing in the middle of a town. Vaguely, she remembers traveling here from her home. Home...where is 'home'... she wonders to herself. Of her memories, she remembers her name, a few glimpses of her travels here, most of which involved running for her life, and vague impressions, none of which are currently doing her any good.

A shorter man happens by, carrying an armful of armor and weapons. When he sees Daisy Mae, he pauses and looks her over, "Hey, you have the look of an adventurer, and one in dire need of equipment. You should go see Irzynn. That crazy fool is giving away what's left of his stock. Something about serving the Adventurer's Guild is where the real money is, and he doesn't want to transport his 'junk' from this town, so you might get some free stuff, assuming there's anything left. Anyway, good luck, I gotta run." And with that the man runs off.

Adventurer...me? thinks Daisy Mae. She looks herself over, trying to gauge exactly what an adventuring type looks like. The more she thinks on it, the more she seems to remember working on a farm, though the 'adventurer' label seems to fit her as well. Confused, she decides to find this Irzynn character and see if there's anything left.

--------------------------------------------------------

After scouring the town for the better part of an hour, she finally stumbles across Irzynn's shop. Entering, she's slightly taken aback by the fact that he only has one eye, though she masks her surprise by admiring several of the 'horrid' trophies that he has lining his walls. Heads of goblins, ogres, and even a forest troll line his shelves. I wonder if all shops have these types of things, or if this particular man is just...odd... Daisy ponders and Irzynn approaches.

"Well, well, today is certainly a lucky one for you," says Irzynn, as he walks out of a small room at the back of the shop. "What did you say your name was? Daisy Mae is it? Well, Daisy Mae, I've just the thing for you. Follow me and I'll show it to you."

Daisy follows Irzynn to the back of his shop and steps into a small room (even more cluttered than the main shop floor). Irzynn apologizes for the mess strewn from wall to wall and busies himself with gathering up several things from different piles located throughout the room.

"Just give me a minute," he says. "I hadn't expected anyone quite this early."

If he wasn't expecting anyone, I wonder if that man stole that stuff he was carrying...
Daisy thinks abit on that, then decides to let the matter drop, deciding that if he's really leaving down it doesn't matter much anyway. Just then, Irzynn comes back in with an arm full of equipment.

"There, have at it, for what any of it's worth," he says, depositing the lot on the floor at her feet. "I've washed my hands of all this and I'm closing up shop at the day's end. There aren't any more real adventurers in these parts, yourself quite excluded of course, and my few remaining years would be better spent in the cottage down in Durnsig. The missus is already there mind you, and won't come back here -- and she's quite right! I'm too old for this game. There, have at it all!"

Daisy stares blankly at the man for a moment, ...adventurer...that's the second person this morning that's assumed I'm an adventurer...perhaps I am...

Finally, she scoops up everything he's laid out, and thanks him for his generosity. She quickly dresses herself in the armor he's provided, thanks him again, and leaves his shop.

For much of the remainder of the day, Daisy set about exploring the many and various facets of this town, which she came to learn was named Hawklor.

Venturing into Stoneback Tavern, she decides to see exactly what 'Hammertongue' is, and decides to participate in this 'challenge'. With all eyes in the tavern on her, which unnerved her a little, and then the interuption of the elderly man telling her Piripor is trying to poison her, unnerves her a little more, however, in the end she decides to go through with it.

She downs the rather large flagon, which burned her throat to no end. Then she stood for the alotted time, and even did a little jig once time was called. Piripor leaves the room and soon returns with her prize.

"A flask of Hammertongue for the victor!" Piripor shouts excitedly.
Great, my reward is more of that awful stuff...perhaps if I am to be an adventurer, I could use it to kill something.. Daisy thinks, smiling to herself.

As everyone goes back to their own tables, Piripor pulls Daisy aside, "Your real prize is with my cousin in his cabin on the outskirts of town".

"Thank the gods!" says Daisy, a little louder than she had intended.

He relays the directions to Daisy, which she is amazed how easily she remembers, considering her current memory problem. They share in pleasantries once more, and Daisy decides to mingle a bit before heading out.

---------------------------------------------

As she heads out of town a strange building with a bright blue door catches her attention. As she heads in, she sees many an advertisement for the Adventurer's Guild.
"Greetings, would you be interested in joining the Guild?" says a very chipper man behind the counter. "We charge a nominal fee, but the benefits of your membership is well worth the cost!"

Daisy stares at the man, and begins feeling around in her pockets...she places many gold tokens on the counter in front of the man. "How much gold does it take?"

"Oh, we don't take gold tokens" says the man, using his quill to push the gold back toward Daisy, "we only accept dollars" he says as he holds up what appears to be a green piece of paper with a funny looking man on it.

Daisy continues feeling around in her pockets. "I don't appear to have any green paper."

The man behind the counter frowns. "I'm sorry then, you will just have to stay free for the time being then."

Daisy develops a quizzical look on her face. "Isn't being free a good thing though?"

The man smiles slightly. "You would think that, but in this situation, no."

More confused than ever, Daisy leaves the blue doored building. She's free, but somehow, apparently, that's a bad thing.

Still confused, Daisy makes her way toward Baomar's cabin.

Upon reaching the cabin, Baomar invites Daisy in and offers her a hot cup of palo. Still reeling from the effects of the Hammertongue, Daisy reluctantly agrees. Sipping the piping hot palo, Daisy is quite relieved that it tastes absolutely nothing like Hammertongue.

After receiving a rather nice looking dagger as her 'official' prize, Daisy shares a few more mugs of palo with Baomar before exchanging pleasantries and then heading back to town.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Back in town, she notices a ragged old peddler lurking about and decides to approach him, however, the peddler takes one look at her and runs. Wondering at his odd behavoir, she glances back toward the blue doored building and notices the same man looking out the window with a smirk on his face. This must have something to do with that Guild... she thinks to herself before continuing on.

-------------------------------------------------------------

An Inn! Daisy thinks excitedly, I can finally put my feet up!

However, upon entering the inn, she is accosted by two men who beg and plead for her to escort their wagon to Trithik, which is apparently a city north of where she currently is.

Apparently she looks like she'd be good in a pinch, but somehow she doubts that she would be. Still, they offer her gold for her trouble.

"Do you have any green paper you could pay me with?" she asks.

Arching an eyebrow, one of the men looks at her like she's somewhat crazy, then exchanges looks with his partner, as if to say "this one's a nut job".

"I was only kidding, boy you should see your faces..." laughs Daisy, hoping to ease their fears. "Gold will be fine."

The two men exchange another look, then nod to Daisy.

Good, now I can get some rest, and maybe even a bath... Daisy thinks to herself.

----------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, the men wanted to leave immediately. However, two days into the three day journey, nothing had happened, and Daisy Mae was feeling good about her job, until...

The wagon slows to a halt as five men armed with axes and wooden clubs step out into the road to block the way. Taered whispers to Daisy that the wagon is much too laden to even consider outrunning them along the road.

"Give us the wagon, and we'll spare your lives," says the bold leader of the five men.

When Taered refuses their demands, the five men surge forward and attack.

Daisy's ability as hired muscle is being put to its first test! Nendo draws his longsword and leaps to intercept the men before they reach the wagon. Taered cowers on the buckboard.

Crap...I was hoping this would be a quiet journey...why is nothing ever easy!

Daisy dives into battle headfirst, her instincts taking over. Quickly, she dispatches all 5 of the bandits, then looks around in shock. [color=red]Okay, apparently I have fists of fury, I need to remember that...

Fortunately, the word about her 'fists of fury' appear to have reached the other bandits, and the rest of the trip to Trithik passes without incident. The return trip to Hawklor is likewise uneventful and Daisy soon continues her exploration of the town.

After finally arriving back in Hawklor, Daisy Mae decides against visiting the council building, after all, who likes bureaucrats?
Perhaps the stables would be a good place for some quiet... she thinks to herself. Afterall, she hadn't seen many, if any horses around town, so they must be pretty empty. However, when she arrives, there's a stable boy 'cleaning' out the empty stalls. He seems like a rather excitable chap, so she leaves him alone and explores the stables for a quiet place to curl up for a nap.

Soon, she stumbles across a hatch half buried under straw, which looks like a nice place for a nap, so she investigates further.

As she makes her way over to the hatch, the young stable hand rushes over and puts himself between her and her goal. He holds his rusty pitchfork in front of him in a defensive manner, as he attempts to bar her progress.

"Can't let you go near there miss," he says sternly. "Been sworn to keep everyone out!"

Arching an eyebrow, her curiosity is peaked. Daisy asks what is below, and as he attempts to studder out an answer, she pushes by the boy and heads down the hatch.

At the bottom of the ladder she's met with a sword to the back of her neck. She stiffens, not daring to breathe, much less make a movement. Following the instructions of the sword wielder, Daisy slowly turns and introduces herself.

Apparently, her fists of fury have preceeded her yet again, because upon hearing her name, the man treats her as a friend. He does something odd with his hand, placing his palm on her shoulder, all the while smiling. She returns the gesture, figuring it might be rude to not reciprocate, even though she has no idea what it means...Oh...I hope I'm not marrying this guy with this gesture... she thinks.

He smiles, then offers to help her make fifty gold. Does no one deal in green paper? she wonders, but accepts his offer.

He quickly recounts his past few weeks, though after a few sentences, Daisy cuts him off and asks what needs to be done. He hands her a deerskin bag and tells her where to deliver it.

"Seems easy enough, I'll depart in the morning." As soon as she said it, she knew she shouldn't have. Voices coming from the stables above, coupled with the apprehension on the man's face told Daisy she needed to leave, now.

Now she was headed to Trithik, again without any proper planning and at the drop of a hat. Is this what an adventurers life is supposed to be like? she wondered.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Her trip to Trithik was uneventful, obviously the word of her 'fists of fury' had preceeded her. Once in Trithik, she headed straight for the tavern...The otter something... she thought...

So after exploring much of the city, she eventually found the Alehouse. Inside, she buys an ale and looks for anyone who might be this 'Shill' person.

Very quickly, it is apparent that a group of men fancy her. Not wanting to be oggled, she decides to leave the alehouse and try again tomorrow to find Shill...

Outside, the strange men from the alehouse jump Daisy and drag her into an alley. One identifies himself as Shill and demands the package. Something seems...'off'...to Daisy, so she refuses and starts to back away.

Another person, unseen before now clears his throat, and identifies himself as Shill, chasing away the other three men. Daisy reluctently follows this man, and gives him the bag when asked. At this point she just wants to be rid of the thing and get back to Hawklor, where it's relatively safe.

With the package now delivered, hopefully to the right person, Daisy makes her way back to Hawklor.

Back in Hawklor, Daisy spots a church. Perhaps some prayer and reflection will help my memory, or at least get me some peace and quiet. she wonders, still being weary from her return trip from Trithik. With nothing else currently catching her fancy, she trudges forward.

---------------------------------------

Stepping through the doors, she notices a few people kneeling, moving to do the same, one of the people notices her and immediately jumps to his feet.

"Greetings, welcome to our humble church, I am Tibbin, a priest here, do you have a moment to speak?" the man asks.

Daisy sighs inwardly......what now... she wonders.
"Sure what's on your mind?" says Daisy.

"Well, we've been expecting some people here for the last couple of days, and we're beginning to get worried that something has happened to them on the road. They left Talinus a week ago on a pilgrimage to Syr, and I was to accompany them...

...I owe myself a bunch of green paper if he suggests that I look for them... Daisy thinks.

..."and I can't help but notice that you have the look of an adventurer about you, and was wondering perhaps if you would help me look for them...did I mention there are children involved?" states the man.

...if I had a green money for every time...

"Very well..." says Daisy, sounding increasingly tired, "but after this, I need a nap."

--------------------------------------------

After a day of searching, Daisy and Tibbin stumble across the wagon of the travelers. Behind the wagon is a bloodied up young man, and from the mans description, Daisy deduces that the wagon was attacked by ogres.

..how on earth did I know that?...and aren't ogres supposed to be green and live in swamps? wonders Daisy while Tibbin cares for the young man's wounds.

"The ogres lair can't be far from here, follow me!" and off he trudges into the woods.

He's going to get us both killed... ponders Daisy as she sets off after Tibbin.

---------------------------------------------

Half an hour later, Daisy and Tibbin stumble across the ogre's lair, and discover that there are two ogres.

"Where's their donkey?" Daisy whispers.

Tibbin looks at her, much like those men from the inn did, like she's somewhat crazy.

"You should lead them away, while I go and tend to any wounded." Tibbin suggests...

Sure...send the woman into danger while you play it safe and be the hero...what a big strong man you are...

"Fine." Daisy says curtly.

"Hey you big stupid ugly ogres, come and taste my Fists of Fury!" she yells, as she runs off through the woods. I wish I had a pitchfork and a torch, ogres hate those things... she thinks while running.

Daisy darts and dodges between the trees, attempting to lose the ogres, but she's not fast enough and they eventually catch up to her.

Once again, combat reflexes kick in and she quickly dispatches the ogres. Stepping over the bodies, she makes her way back to their lair.

------------------------------------------

Back at the lair, everyone seems in good spirits, and everyone is accounted for. And, of course, Tibbin is their hero. I thought priests were supposed to be pious and humble, this guy seems to eat the attention up. Daisy quips to herself as they lead the travelers back to their wagon.

Once back at the wagon, the young man pays Daisy a complement, saying her deeds were "truly heroic".

"Of course, it was the All-Father's will." interjects Tibbin.

Can't even let me get a little glory...didn't see any 'all-father' out there beating down those ogres, just me... thinks an irritated Daisy.

With them all set, the travelers once again set out for Syr. Of course, their hero Tibbin is taking the lead. grumbles Daisy to herself as she heads back to Hawklor.

After arriving, yet again, back in Hawklor, Daisy Mae continues the scouring of the town.

A building soon catches her eye, though upon closer inspection, there is an insignia on the door frame representing the Adventurer's Guild. As a test, she attempts to open the door. It doesn't budge, yet it doesn't appear to be locked...

..Guild magic.. Daisy concludes.

Daisy treks off to the village council building, hoping they are now present after her recent travels so she can give them a piece of her mind.

--------------------------------------

Immediately upon arriving, the council greets her warmly, then they launch into an explanation of the happenings in the Westwold and the goblins there in. Unable to get a word in edgewise, Daisy simply bides her time as the council concludes their story.

Bureaucrats enjoy hearing themselves talk too much...wouldn't it be easier to just say "Hey, we've got a goblin problem, wanna kill them?"... Daisy thinks. "Yes...yes it..." says Daisy, finishing her thought outloud.

"Excellent, I'm glad you've decided to help us and destroy the goblin menace! You will leave immediately!"

"Wait...I...oh nevermind."

--------------------------------------

After being supplied with much of the same junk she already has, she sets out immediately for Westwold and the goblin cave.

"Why did I volunteer for this..." Daisy mumbles to herself, "...I hate spelunking..."

Barely into the cave, Daisy sees three humans, the man is being beaten by some goblins.

So at least some of the people are still alive. she thinks.

Daisy puts up her fists and yells, "Hey Goblins, have you met Jack Johnson and Tom O'Leary!?!" and then charges into battle. Before she can second guess herself, the goblins are dead and the people are thanking her, and telling her that there are more to save...of course think Daisy.

One of the women asks who Jack Johnson and Tom O'Leary are, to which Daisy has no reply, only a blank memory.

So after sending them out of the cave to relative safety, Daisy continues her search, if somewhat reluctantly.

After searching the entire cave, dispatching goblins whenever she finds them, she eventually stumbles on some stairs, and descends down further into the cave.
---------------------------------------------------------
In the lower level, Daisy stumbles on a goblin who is chained that appears to have been beaten within an inch of its worthless life. As he notices Daisy, his expression is a mixture of horror and fear. [color=red]So he's heard of my fists of fury Daisy contemplates, ...even down here... Daisy concludes somewhat impressed with how fast word travels. Deciding to end his suffering, Daisy lands and single blow, killing the poor wretched goblin, before continuing her search for the people.

Stumbling across a War Band, Daisy is afraid her fists might not be as helpful. After throwing a few punches, they don't seem to be as effective. Going into defense mode, she contemplates what to do when one of the goblins actually lands a decent blow. The pain, brings forth anger, and in a flash, a gate opens up and a green-skinned humanoid dispatches the goblins for her.

What on earth was that!?! Did I do that?!? And if so HOW?!?!?!? Daisy retreats to the surface to heal her wound, and to contemplate what transpired. After more practice of this new ability, and more rest, she again delves into the cave hoping that the people have managed to survive all of these 'delays'.

Daisy Mae manages to follow her same path, and comes to a chamber where the captives are held, and convinently enough, the goblin chieftain as well. After easily dispatching all goblins in the chamber, the captives are overjoyed to no longer be on the menu.

And after a quick, uneventful trip back to Hawklor, Daisy Mae receives a hero's welcome. If that Tibbin were here, I'm sure he'd manage to take all the credit...but he's not Daisy can't help but smile.

Another man does the strange gesture, putting his palm on her shoulder, and she reciprocates. I really must figure out what this means, before I commit to do something without meaning to...

The council gives her 500 gold, which she graciously accepts, as she figures no one in this town knows anything about the green paper, she will just have to go elsewhere to figure out how to acquire some of that.
