For posting your hoards of any size. Whether gold, xp, icons or anything else.
Figured since I finally reached a milestone of sorts I'd post Hawk's general xp then I remembered the various threads on the old forum so I thought I'd take Badstench's advice and create a new one.

The Ring of Bone is my very first raffle win. And I don't think the GM has added it to Tallys' list. In any case, I can get the DG Ring which is better; but there is some sentimentiality involved here!

9/1/09 - The Latest Updates
A Special Raffle - The Ring of Mayhem
Later today (9/1) Tallys will begin hosting a special raffle for a grand ring -- The Ring of Mayhem.
Tickets for this special raffle will cost 10 gold each. Adventurers wishing to participate can purchase as many tickets as their plentiful gold reserves will allow.
As the Ring of Mayhem is a unique item, only one prize for one lucky winner will be available.
Character Gold Cap
A cap on the maximum allowable amount of gold a single character can accumulate will be implemented in the next few days.
The cap will initially be set at 1 million gold. A character will not be able to acquire more than 1 million gold.
Characters who already possess wealth in excess of the gold cap may retain it, but will not be able to acquire additional gold until the amount they possess drops below the cap level.
All you with several million will have to buy tickets for the next raffle. I don't stand a chance to win.

On the subject of rings...
Judge Fury has his Fizzlebane ring of Necromancy, the Legendary Mariners ring, and still wears Runeskin's ring.
The fourth one is the Rogues Battle Ring, which is not nearly as powerful as others, but his Luck stat sucks, so it's deemed as necessary (+5 luck points). It costs 56 AT's, which could go a way toward something better.
I have my eye set on Caster's ring of Mist, which will increase my MR and SP considerably, leaving the Rogues ring for those ocassions when luck is a gaming factor.
I'm not sure if anyone else has a higher NV total than Judge Fury (currently 60 without enhancements from Fogbough). Another 7 points from Caster's ring will make me much happier.
And as an aside, for some reason, I spent a time thinking they were called Fizzlebang rings!
Duh me!

I've noticed a few players wearing a lot of Tallys's Copper-Emblazoned collection which greatly boosts that NvR category. Specifically, Mak's character Nathair Ap Dubh (http://www.sryth.com/ci.php?f_c=pcp.inc&f_i=251d68xce356268&f_r=h) and ShadowDragon's Trogg (http://www.sryth.com/ci.php?f_c=pcp.inc&f_i=1afb0exce26cece&f_r=h) come to mind.
I remember crunching some numbers for maximum possible NR on the old forum before these pieces and the bracelets came into play. I'm guessing close to 100 NR  with the right configuration would be possible now.
Elrond
09-05-2009, 06:28 AM
Yeah Oldschool, the GM seems to have fixed the NvR drought with a steady influx of Tallys' gear. I remember when I used to worry about my NvR in the Ice Troll cave.
Now I can probably finish Tarn in a straight run relying on restoration (without going to the sheltered hollow or drinking from the fountain) and not worry about NvR running out.

The Skull and Bones raffle being limited to 50,000 tickets which equals 500,000 gold piques my curiosity about gold stores over the 1 million cap.
Even with the gold costs for training removed all of my secondaries have under 50,000 so won't spend more than a (pardon the pun) token amount.
Hawk while over the cap is sparingly so at 160k, give or take. Also my initial plans to hoard grinding loot for sale after going below the 1mil cap was abandoned almost as soon as it was started. After all, even were my playing time great (which it ain't) and I devoted it all to Hawk only the truth is no significant gap could be closed. I have a few um pieces and a few more exceptional and superior - not much else.
So what I'm asking is for those with over 1 mil in gold to lay their cards on the table - in other words how much gold are you hoarding?
shadowblack
10-24-2009, 08:55 PM
Well, since I was hoping for a second "buy as many tickets as you can afford" raffle I just spent just 6M on the previous one and kept the other 6, so right now I have 6,780,532. For the record, I'm rankled #2 in gold. Oh amd I do have over 200 unique items stored (I can;t tell you the total number right now).

After dropping 6 million to get the Ring of Mayhem, Trent is ranked #6 in gold (and after buying tokens for the new raffle) with 1,651,675. I was hoping to be able to spend more on this raffle just for the "thrill" of building gold up again.

Total Experience Earned: 9,003,737
Total Bonus: 900,377
Sometime during the first or second week of September I decided to try to see how close I could come to getting a bonus of 1,000,000. If I would have ground a little harder earlier on I could have hit it pretty easily I believe. Now to figure out the next challenge to keep me going. Any thoughts/ideas?

I've wondered if we could get a grinding competition going on to see who gets the most xp per day (or week). So, similar to how everyone posts the results of the MP battles, at the end of the day, people who think they earned the most xp would post their totals, and anyone getting more could post theirs, etc. So then you aren't competing against yourself, but everyone else. And since there are so many others grinding, you wouldn't have to worry about everyone burning out on the same day. Sound interesting?
BTW, congrats on the massive QS hoard.

Not positive as my gold is slightly fluctuating between the max and the max minus horse tending fees when I log off. And I'm not sure when the rankings are updating in relation to that, but I think 1 mil is ranked 12th.
Be interesting to see the particulars from 1 to 11.

That was from normal play. In other words that was from when Durge was my primary.

So most of that gold was accumulated as a primary character then. I was wondering if it was all from grinding how you found the time to grind that much with a secondary especially given Trent's status.
Regardless, two characters in the top ten of anything - congrats and well done.

@Oldschool I rarely do anything with Durge these days. I believe I do have him to level 98 Weaponry and Weaponry,Slashing (with 650,000 or so gen xp hoard). For a while there my goal was to be the first player with two characters with those legendary skills. Also touche on the misering! LOL!

All right, somebody please explain something to me? Why, when we have a gold cap, do some of you have more than that? And it the GM won't take it away, then why didn't you do away with it like most everyone else when we had the gold raffle for the super-cool ring? I don't think it's really a gold cap if some players refuse to do it.
shadowblack
03-15-2010, 03:27 PM
Those of us above the cap keep their gold, but don't get any more gold. So our gold reserves are slowly decreasing.
As for the raffle: I spent 6 (I think) million on the first and won a prize. I kept the rest in the hopes of another gold. Unfortunately the second one had a limit on how many tickets we could by, so despite spending the allowed max Istill have a few million left.

Like Shadowblack stated I also dropped 6 million on the Ring of Mayhem raffle (I only had 8 million). I wanted to keep some in reserve because the GM had already said there would be another gold only raffle coming. None of us knew that there would be a cap on the amount you could spend in the second raffle or that there would be no more gold only raffles.
Also you asked why the GM just didn't take it away? I ask you to explain to me how that would be fair given the info we had to work with (as was stated above).

It's taking some getting used to to leave trinkets and gold laying around when playing now that I've reached the cap. I've bought every imbuable item and replaced the gold and am contemplating doing the same with unmatched gear.
Why? Why not.
Besides if I'm going to be like most veteran adventures turned entrepreneur I'm going to need some start off stock. :)
But if we ever have any more gold raffles or any other contests involving gold.....
Beforehand and as much as it pains my 1 mil capped out gold keister to say it I'd like to see another gold raffle without a cap on tickets indicating that that would be the last such raffle. And afterward any folks over the cap would be adjusted to 1 mil. That way those folks don't totally lose all their hard earned gold. That could even be implemented as a "side pot" for those folks over the cap while a separate raffle could be held for everyone including the multi-millionaires with the stipulation that any funds used comes out of the base million after the adjustment. The more I think about it the capped gold raffle with the side pot looks very attractive.
OR a moderate xp exchange or a very low AT exchange (thinking of the legendary AS&P) could also be implemented.
I know Sryth is a solo game and while we don't have true PvP we have some contests with somewhat of a competitive element. How much of one depends upon one's perspective.
If gold isn't going to play a part in future competitive elements (and I'm not talking about rankings) then it really doesn't matter. If rankings are an issue for some then everyone at 1 mil or over can be ranked 1st or gold rankigs could be removed altogether.
If gold is going to be utilized in such a manner in the future then something should be done to bring everyone to the cap. However those folks over should receive something for their gold even if it is just increased chances in a lottery.
However if the use of gold is not going to be expanded whether it be as above or even gold sinks then implementing a cap serves no real purpose that I can think of.
Just my two gold tokens worth. ;)

Well to put it simply, a cap means, well, it's a cap...a ceiling...you can't have more than that...the GM already gave a very generous opportunity to get your gold under the cap...what more was expected? You made an assumption it would be an uncapped raffle...that turned out to be wrong...you could have put all your gold in the Ring of Mayhem raffle like everyone else...since you chose not to...then a cap should mean, well, you know, a cap.

I understand what you are saying spencer. I really do however, from the GM himself, from this (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=6418&postcount=32) announcement, under Character Gold Cap, he specifically states- Characters who already possess wealth in excess of the gold cap may retain it, but will not be able to acquire additional gold until the amount they possess drops below the cap level. Given that there has been GM approval I think that he would not do anything that would give those with more than 1 million an unfair advantage over those who didn't. Hence little things called Battle Markers I believe.

I'm still of the mind that BM's are to spur mp particiaption and even overall game participation. I don't know a lot about internet advertising but I know it's based (partly at least) on traffic. But back on topic....
Having an entry limit on gold raffles or to put it in poker terms "table stakes" is a good example of what you mention. Otherwise folks hoarding over the cap could stack their odds in a raffle or "buy the pot".

My items are sort of like that, too. It starts listing them alphabetically, but it gets down to the end, and then starts doing it in reverse for the items that are left. It's almost like there are two different lists. One going up, one going down. There aren't duplicates, like it's a mirror, but some are put "on top," or in the first one that goes A-Z; the others are put "on bottom" that goes Z-A.

I thought WTF then I checked. Granted it's really late and I'm tired but didn't it used to be two lists. One for found items and one for purchased ones?
Either way mine are down to one list in reverse alphabetical order with the excepton of my Large Backpack then the Granite Key.
The dropdown seems the same ending with the misc. stuff sorted sort of chronologically - with the last item acquired last.
I'll check it more thoroughly later - maybe by then someone else will have posted as well.

It seems like all the sub lists (weapons, armour:legs, misc., ect...) are sorted with the equipped item(s) first in reverse alphabetical order, then all other items in reverse alphabetical order.
The drop down list for items in sorted by type of item (even though we don't have heading separating them anymore) and in chronological order.
Both the drop down and the actual lists for both Skills and Powers are in alphabetical order.
