Has anyone tried to cure the werewolves in the Crow Hill adventure?

I need 12,800 XP's to reach level 70 in restoration as I planned on giving it a try. 70 is the Min level required I understand ;) although I didn't realise that it cost so much to reach that level otherwise I might have thought differently :rolleyes:

Yes, some of us tried that option. It's really not worth it, except for roleplaying purposes:
XP +256 You've been awarded a total of 256 Experience...
256 xp applied to Restoration...
Your body trembles as the healing power of your magical discipline of RESTORATION is projected onto the two brothers. Both men stagger as the powerful wave of Nevernal energy washes over them. After just a few moments they gasp, and cry out in agony before dropping to their knees and collapsing face first onto the cave floor.
Worried that your attempt to heal them has caused them harm, you rush over to them, desperately seeking any sign of life from the two brothers. You are elated when in unison both of the men suddenly sit up. The lurid yellow glow has vanished from their eyes, though the brothers still seem to be somewhat dazed.
"Over...at last...over..." croaks one of them, his weak voice tinged with amazement.

In a few minutes the men have recovered enough to regain their feet, and when they do both of them step forward and in turn meet you with shoulder crosses. Tears run from the eyes of the larger of the two men, while the other, who introduces himself as Seris-Kir, thanks you repeatedly on behalf of himself and his brother.
"Ten long years has this curse run through our blood," he tells you. "There is no end to the misery we have wrought while under its spell, and no end of the nightmares that will forever plague us. You have cured the disease, my friend, but what is done cannot be undone. We might only hope to be able to set right that which we are able...as best we can."
You learn that the two brothers, once promising knights in the service of Queen Cheven of Phiadon, were on the hunt for a beast that was terrorizing towns and villages in the eastern part of their kingdom, when the fateful encounter occurred.
"A wolf creature, as black as shadow, as as large as troll," says Mirin-Kir, his voice trembling as he recalls the encounter. "It came upon us in the ruins of a village it had razed, and though we had ten men at our backs, we were no match for its might, or its fury. When all went black, we assumed we had been slain, and the noble fight was at last over. When sight returned, and we found that we yet lived...oh but how we have since prayed for death!"
The brothers tell you that the affliction prevented them from harming themselves, but that it drove them to savage ends, with the curse of a ravenous appetite that was only sated by the devouring of human flesh.
You introduce yourself to the brothers and tell them about Murilmyr and how he has been commissioned by Queen Cheven to bring them to justice.
"We will do what we must...what we can...with what time and with what direction the All-Father sees fit to provide us. You may take us to this Murilmyr. If we are made to answer for that which this curse drove us to, then so it must be."
With that, the three of you make your way out of the treacherous cave and across the moor toward Crow Hill.

Murilmyr seems both shocked and angry when you return to the summit of Crow Hill with the two brothers, Seris-Kir and Mirin-Kir walking freely behind you. When you explain to him what transpired in the cave and relate to him the brothers' story, his demeanour softens and he apologizes for his initial reaction.
The silver-haired sorcerer tells you that he was not aware of their history, and that he wonders why the Queen, if indeed she knows of it, would conceal it from him.
"Then we shall return to Phiadon, and see what fate justice bequeaths to you," he says. "Ikrios! Allow these men to settle on your back. We will leave at once."
The silver-haired mage turns to you and thanks you apprehending the brothers.
"I have no doubt their story will be met with pity, and perhaps even forgiveness," he says, keeping his voice low. "Though I cannot promise a joyous end to this affair, Shadowblack. Long is their list of crimes, and longer than that are the memories of those whose dear ones perished in ways both savage and unnatural at their hands. May the Queen and the All-Father look upon them with mercy."

I used Restro. What happens if you kill them?

Ahhhh from what I recall ( this is my 2nd attempt at the game due to an enforced re-start...Grrrrr! I let Peter "nephews child" have a go at the game and he decided to start from the beginning without asking me :eek:) the Pumpkin kills the first one and you kill the 2nd but I cannot recall the rewards for doing so. All I remembered was that restoration of 70+ was an option so decided to try it that way before I knew how much XP's it would cost :rolleyes:

It will be another day at least before I can earn enough XP's to get that level 70 restoration. Will have to go back to the Silver Crest one of "The Proving Grounds Adventures" to earn some more XP's.

I would kill him because you get 16 AT for doing so. If you heal them you don't get the AT.

Acutually, I looked it up on the wikki and "Either way you do it, once you end the menace of the brothers you'll receive the Completion Reward." and
"Rewards
* The wolf brothers, choose...
To heal them, 256 experience to Restoration (requires Restoration 70+)
To fight them, 129-130 combat experience for defeating Seris-Kir (9+ at MR 90)
* Completion Reward:
1024 general experience
16 ATs"

So, you get 16 ATs either way. And I know I should have looked it up in the first place.

Hmmmm well as I am so close to the level 70 restoration now I think I will give it a go. Trouble is I am on the Isle now and spent what XP's I had on the skill of the Lance which is now level 60. I will have to do the quest to obtain Horsemanship now I suppose. And .................. I could do with those AT's to purchase a grand residence ;).

You get the 16 AT either way you handle the werewolves. The meager specific bonus to Restoration XP is not worth the long wait and heavy investment you make in pumping Resto to 70.

Get your Woodsmanship and an attack power (Nercromancy works well) up to 50, and you should have no problem completing this quest very early in game (before Runeskin or even Stoneback Hill). I use this quest as a way to get up to 72 ATs quickly without doing any quests that give XP to All Skills & Powers.

I've done the Restoration thing, and it does give you a nice warm-and-fuzzy feeling to have 'saved' the mass-murdering brothers from their curse. This doesn't change the fact that they are mass-murders though. Also, there is no alignment effect to your choice.

EDIT: also, watching your pumpkin kill off one of the brothers is a fun read

This would seem like a good opportunity to have a "Hand of Fate" choice. Of course that would seem a moot point, at present anyway, since we have yet to see any results from them.

I refused to kill the brothers, just like how I refused to kill the giants of gallowtop.

In fact level 60 is enough to save them... You just have to keep trying.

"You are a fool to have remained!" growls the foremost man. "We are no longer human. Our blood is no longer that of man! You must go, or you will surely share in this nightmare! But don't run! Don't incite the hunt!"

The man seems to speak in earnest, and you sense that while they do not wish to do you harm, or spread whatever foul affliction has cursed them, they are largely unable to control their actions. Every indication suggests that it's taking all the of restraint at their command to keep from lunging at you.

A particular power or skill might be of use here... learn more hint

* Attack them at once...

* Demand that they surrender to you...

The brothers scowl at your demand for surrender and the larger of them, Mirin-Kir, begins to tremble.

"Leave! We do not give ourselves up to you to face the hangman's rope!" he snarls. "This is your final chance to save your skin!"

Realizing that to leave would mean the failure of your mission, you quickly strike the option.

* Attempt to converse with them further...

* Attack the two brothers...

Your use of Restoration has succeeded...

Level SIXTY? Are you sure that's not a bug?

Are you sure that's not a bug?
It might be... or it might be a secret surprise purposely left... because it only worked if you managed to keep talking with them til the check showed up for a second / third time. Can't remember clearly but I did save them with 60 restoration.

Thank you all for your help. I finally managed to get level 70 restoration after doing lots of other things and acquiring two more skills at least.

So I healed the brothers :D.

If I remember correctly, when this adventure came out, there were only two, maybe three, characters with the requisite restoration level.

Yes, it is. At that time I was a few levels below Restoration 70, and it wasn't worth the experience to get it that high.

Well it took me time as I did some other adventures including starting Saarnguard Isle so had to learn Horsmanship and the lance and along the way I picked up Telekinesis as well and found and acquired Teeks Axe. Now I just have to find Teek :rolleyes:.

I also finished PGV and just acquired Stormgait by winning the Joust. Now I need to find somewhere to get the power of Gating.

TheGrey Circle (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Grey_Circle) in Tallinus will teach you any power except Necro and SM.

The Grey Circle will charge EXP to learn a new Power. You can also train the Powers that you already have there without the cost of gold and a lower amount of EXP than if you do normal training.

Ahhhh when your young things seem to take a long time to happen in the real life that is, when you get old time seems to speed by :( it must seem like on fast forward when you get ancient like my Dad :eek: he was born only 4 years after the end of World War One (1922). Just think of the changes he has seen :eek:
