OK, so after the thing with the spammer who posted about the collage (if you didn't see it, don't ask), I had an Idea.
Everybody's first post has to be approved by Havoc/ a mod. Then they could post as they pleased. Or, if that's too hard to do, make it so that Havoc/ a mod has to approve all new members.

My feeling is that that's a bit of a drastic reaction at this stage, given that we've so far only had one instance of spam (as far as I know, anyway). I'm wary of doing anything that might put new people off posting.
(Still giggling about the idea of a spammer trying to promote a collage, by the way. 'Click here to see this ground-breaking combination of macaroni, tissue paper and sacking, cunningly fashioned into the likeness of Barak Obama...'. I know. I'm sad.)

I don't think there is any way to block any from signing up for an account. If someone does post something that should not be posted than action can be taken.

I agree. One instance isn't anything to panic about. Now that Havoc isn't alone in watching the forum, Spammers can be dealt with quickly.
And as a reminder to those who like SPAM. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anwy2MPT5RE)

Ehh, there is an administration option in many forums that require registered users to be manually approved before posting. There is another such option that forces each and every individual post to be monitored by an admin/mod before being able to be posted.
Though I think both of these options are not necessary XD. Well, I wouldn't really mind the first one (especially since I already have an account), but the second one is a pain XD. (Well, I guess for much the same reason as the first one I had made, it isn't one that really bothers me, but could potentially bother others XD)

I'm strongly against any such idea.
Recently I returned to another forum, and discovered that to even VIEW the forum you had to make an introduction post and have it approved by a moderator (until then you could read only the area for introductions). It took several hours for my post to get approved. It was extremely frustrating, especially since I had registered oin that forum long ago, before this new requirement had been put into place - I just hadn't visited for various reasons.
I know the mods here are a lot more active than on that one, but still - waiting for hours just so that you can post? What if you're in a hurry?
As a person with first-hand experience with the negative side of any such idea I am strongly against it.

OK, so maybe it's not a good Idea. Oh, and I was laughing at Dooli's thing about Obama. It's his birthday today, anyone know how old he is (im 2 lazy 2 look it up)?

THX, repped. And it seems that quotes are included in the 10 letter rule :)
EDIT: Repped after I spread some around.

EDIT: Seems like you can now post a post containing a single number, without anything else.

Huh, I tried to post something a few days ago and it gave me a message that said that my post was too short and that I needed 10 letters.

Yeah, I found that irritating, so I reduced it to just 1 letter.
If people start spamming contentless posts, then I'll move it back.

If only we could all get along peacefully, such actions would never have to be taken; but, such is not the way of this world. One instance is not something to worry about, especially since we have a small Forum, and more than one Moderator. Such instances are quickly found, and taken care of accordingly.
I strongly urge everyone reading this to consider the future of the Forum. Don't make them make more rules than they already have. Fewer rules means more freedoms for us, but we have to use those freedoms responsibly.
When I asked Havoc about Roleplay rules, he responded like this...
No rules, have fun. Just remember to be nice.
It's not total anarchy, he's trusting us to use this responsibly. Think before you post, and think about how much more difficult you will make things for others if you break the rules.
That is all, thank you.

Fine, so I overreacted.
@ Havoc: Thx :)
