Shadow Serpent

Hi,I'm wondering if anyone can help me?I'm a new player and I'm doing 1 of the early Murk quests.I need to get over a stone bridge to a temple,but there is a huge Shadow Serpent blocking the way!I have the "Gnarled Wooden Staff" but do I need anything else?Or is it a case of come back when I'm a better fighter?My stats are... MR=42,SP=48,NV=0.

"Use" the staff in combat.
(I'm not sure but escaping from this combat might cause direct death...)

No, I was wrong. You won't die if you flee in this battle. You will, however, if you flee from the Tepthog.
This quest is indeed a bit difficult with your current stats.

First off, welcome to the game and the forum.

OK, get the staff and save. Then go across the bridge and engage the creature. Under the box where you chose your attack style, there are 2 lines, one says "select a power to use", and the other says "select an item to use". Click on the down arrow next to the Item box and select the staff.

That's how you use a power or an item in battle, click on the down arrow next to the correct box and select the Power or Item. If you have any more questions, just ask.

EDIT: Solitu beat me to it. He's right, don't die. That's why I said to save before fighting the serpent.

@ Solitu: he's obviously very new, so I gave him the, to you and me, painfully obvious answer.

Thank you that worked...I was using the staff as a weapon! :/ :D

You're welcome! Like I said, I'm assuming that you're extreamly new and nead to be tought evrything. But, that might just come from being a big sister.
