A question for some real old timers

I was just wondering what weapon you long-time players used before the Shimmering Silver Longsword (or Iakor's Deathblade) or the other weapons' type equivalents (i.e. axe, dagger, etc) came along? I guess some of you were unarmed fighters, but for those of you with a weapon, what did you use?

From looking at the Wiki it looks like the Exalted Diamond Longsword and Tzal-Kagoth were in the game before the Shimmering Silver weapons and Iakor's weapons.

But now either Nimble boots, Dragonwing Breastplate, Warlord's Helm, or Valtin's trick ring is the best choice from Hauntig.

Now, about the Armors [7 statues]. Because they are stat enhancing, and no other armors are better than those yet, I would really hang on to those. Perhaps when the game is updated, more powerful armors will appear, but for now, keep the ones you have.

I also found a post where Havoc said that his telekinesis was 10.

The Blade of the Fox is probably one of the top 5 weapons in the game, although there are other weapons that are better than it.

That was posted on my B-day 5 years ago.

Love the post to old timers when none of them reply, Lol .... I'm not an old timer as I joined in 2006. In my time, the Hale Blade was a monumental achievement. Heck, Blalak's 2-H sword was awesome at the beginning of my playing time! And the Serrated Shortswords from his guards were cool too!

Hee Hee I don't mind the discourse at all. I can't for the life of me remember what I used before SSL, I got here January 2008. SSL was in the game, but it took me awhile to get it.

I became an AG member in 2006, about the same time as Elrond.

I laugh now, but I thought I was hot stuff with the Blade of The Fox... in fact, I used that instead of the gnarled wooden staff to kill the serpent in The Murk qdventure. It took me umpteen tries and cost me a lot of life runes, but I did it in the end!... that was my most memorable achievement for months!

For some reason, I never got hold of the Hale Blade till a long time later.

The Hale Blade required some miserly conduct early on and winning the Trithik Tournament of Arms. I saved all my money and didn't sell my Golden Cup of Zafryl, and bought the Hale Blade. Keeping the trophy was something I wanted badly enough back then. It is still on my mantlepiece in the main hall in Rivendell Castle ;) .

Thanks smv, you are correct. I used goblindoom and creyn until I got SSL.

Yeah, but wither blade was 2-handed and required 17 might, back then, didn't it?

I didn't bother to buy the HB untill the BG opened.

I don't remember exactly when I got my Hale Blade, but I use it far more than any other weapon. I usually use my SSL for new content and in the battlegrounds when I need more MR.

The mention about lowering MR to grind is not the first one I've noticed but they all seem to be older posts on the old forum.

Is this in reference to the combat xp or was the grinding mechanics different at one time.

I THINK that it's both. Combat XP, because I don't think that they had replayables like Axepath or Jadefang. And mechs because the only options were explore the realms @ random and random encounters and possibly explorable areas..
