I know that I'm almost surly making a foll of myself, but:

My new (non AG character) started this morning. She went to Durnsig to buy a house, and saw Teek. You also learn that there is a small dwelling for sale on the outskirts of the village. The cost is 50 gold tokens. You would be able to store extra items and gold at a dwelling of your own.

* Inquire about purchasing the small dwelling...

You are led to a local villager named Teek, who has put the small dwelling up for sale. He rubs his hands together briskly as you get down to business.

"The price is 50 gold tokens firm," he says, fidgeting slightly as he intently watches your face.

*Try to bargain with him a bit... (Note, you CAN bargain with Teek, just not in his shop.)

Teek drives a hard bargain to be sure, but through some careful negotiations you sense that you may be wearing him down.

You must now pick a random number between 1 and 100. If you have DIPLOMACY skill your skill level will be added to the result. If the final result is 40 or higher you will have successful convinced him to lower the price. Good luck!

SUCCESS!

Teek finally relents and agrees to accept 35 gold tokens as payment for the dwelling.

* Agree to buy the dwelling for 35 gold tokens...

"Well done!" says Teek cheerfully, as he hands you over the deed to the property. You give him the 35 gold tokens and you exchange a shoulder cross with him.

He points you in the direction of your purchase and you set out for it at once.

I went to his shop, and he didn't mention anything about being from Dunsig or ever meeting me before.

He's always been there. It's just the same name.

I guessed that (it's been a loooooooooooong time since Alanne started out). But still, if it's the same guy, he should make some mention of selling his house to you the first time you converse with him. (If only selling a house in the real world was that easy.)

It's just another guy with the same name, nothing more.

Still...

Good spotting, thingirl.

There's nothing to say Teek isn't an entrepreneurial type with fingers in many pies. It's entirely possible for him to own and operate more than one business at a time, and realty could have been one of his operations at one time.

We could speculate that he became disillusioned as a property developer when his bids for ruined estates all over Tysa were being gazumped by Faradmyn, so he gave it up to concentrate on his arms dealership in Trithik, which he also gave some years later to pursue other avenues of business.

Of course, I could be wrong.

However, if you want to follow my reasoning as explained above, then this would also add credence to a proactive timeline of events happening in the kingdom of Tysa beyond the adventures undertaken by our characters.

I think that's kinda cool!

I got it:

Teek was a real estate agent. He got board, so he took up adventuring. There he met Rynduil. They fell out and he started his shop. But he still stayed in the RE market at least in Durnsig. He quit after character bought the last house.

How about this:

Teek used to be a member of the silver crest, but had a falling out with Rynduil. He opened a weapons shops in Durnsig, but it folded, mainly because adventurers, military suppliers, and pretty much anyone who bought axes (or weapons) went to cities, and not backwater villages. So he moved all his stock back to Trithik, and opened a new shop there. Then, he went back to Durnsig to sell his old shop as a house to the first unsuspecting adventurer he encountered.

That might be it, but Why cant I store more than 100 items there?

In fact, you actually can store more than 100 items there, item maxes have not been implemented yet.

But however...
Is it physically possible to buy 100 axes from Teek before completely filling up your encumbrance?

No.

But if I was opreating a shop there, I would have probally around 20- 25 irems. And a 100 item max would mean I cold only have 5-4 of an item in stock at a time.

Whatever, there isn't a max anyways, so the point is moot.

I win.

Teek has only 7 or 8 kinds of axe, so he in reality would have 13 or 14 of each axe in stock.

thingirl

darn. But doesn't he also sell other weapons?

No just axes. Check with a character which hasn't started PGV yet. And make sure they don't throw away the donkey's eye.

Except, I have 3 characters: Alanne (cought up on evrything) and 2 low level chars, who are on a non AG account.

Shops don't always carry max stock. This is because they need to keep their items by a projected (predicted by previous sales by week/month and year) sales number. This way, they don't waste their money and make way too many items. See, if the adventurers didn't buy enough, then he would be broke and couldn't pay the rental/tax fee for owning a shop.

It is a more monetarily efficient way to run a store XD.

I've always been inclined to think it was just a different guy named Teek. After all, there are at least three different people named Jodd running around Tysa -- and we know they're different because they have different surnames.

However, the various explanations given here as to how it could be the same Teek are both creative and amusing -- kudos to all involved! :D

And yes, some might complain that his total lack of recognition of you in Trithik argues against it being the same person, but come on. (A) He's got a really bad memory for faces, and he sees dozens of people a day at his shop, so if you looked slightly familiar he probably figured you'd dropped into the shop before; and (B) by the time you come into his shop in Trithik, you've come a long way from the meek little beginning adventurer who bought his cottage in Durnsig -- totally different armor and equipment, lots of new scars...

I like your logic. And also, a shop owner should have storage space for stuff he buys.
