Hey all, I'm new to Sryth (started playing a day or two ago) and enjoyed it so much I plopped down $10 for the AG probably before I'd even finished a whole adventure. Usually I'm not impressed with text based RPGs (for a variety of reasons: slow, boring, confusing as hell), but the moment I started playing Sryth I knew I was in for a treat. The excellent story writing (arguably the most important part of an classic-style or modern RPG) drew me in immediately. Now that I've played several different adventures and quests and whatnots (can anyone clarify what the difference is between an event, quest, and adventure?) something else great has come to light: Syrth has almost no "I need x number of y's to make z, go fetch" or "kill x number of y's", or if it does, they are so highly immersive, well disguised and original I don't mind at all! The rest of the adventures are fantastic mini-stories (and I am sensing a larger plot underneath it all) that have restored my faith in the RPG genre. Now, a bit about me.
I'm a 19 year old college student in Northwest. I paint, write music, and play with my ska band Flaming Mango, but because I am intrinsically lazy, I prefer to sit in a comfy spot with my laptop and browse the interwebs (and now play Sryth). The forums here seem...small (not bad per se)...so I'm sure I'll bump into most of you sooner or later.

Hi Neganti, good to have you with us. I know exactly what you mean about all the 'collect so many of whatevers' type stuff - it's put me off every game but this one!

Welcome to the game Neganti. The difference between an event and adventure is that an event is somekind of encounter with a NPC, a group of people or do a tournament just to name a few. Advetures for the most part are much longer and may multiple parts to the whole adventure before it will be finished. A quest is another form of adventure that may start with someone asking you to do something fo them. I hope you will continue to enjoy the game. If you ever have a question please feel free to ask. There many great players that can help and the wiki is also a great resource.

Sryth! It's a goodie, eh?!
Welcome to the game and the forum. Your comments made me smile, especially the bit about:
Syrth has almost no "I need x number of y's to make z, go fetch" or "kill x number of y's",
This is a topic I am currently enmeshed in addressing from messages and posts concerning my opinion on the same subject.
I won't delve too deeply into it, except to say that I look forawrd to hearing more from you.
And before anyone points it out, Yes, I know I got the letters back to front in a word in the last sentence... it's a pun! Get it?

Explain please?
And Welcome Neganti! Yay! you for joining! (wow, that's the earliest I've done Yay!) And "quest" and "adventure" are pretty much interchangeable.

OK, explain it in terms an 8th grade girl can understand.

As a pun lover myself, I think he meant he is looking forward to a word from me. The misspelled word "forawrd" is a lot like "for a word" which is pretty close to "to a word". That's my guess anyways. :)
