I just got Stormgait a couple days ago(Yay!). I tend her dutifully every time she has a hint of fatigue. Her disposition hasn't changed at all though. How do I raise it? I realize it probably doesn't matter, but I want my horsie to like me.

Currently there's no way to change your horse's disposition.

Definitely one of the many loose ends. Btw, I've often wondered but never asked. Has anyone tried starving their horse to death to see what happens?

Oldschool, you're an evil bastard for even thinking up that question.

Lol....... just wondering if we starved him/her to death if the disposition would change or if there would be some result - text, etc.. After all evil bastard Voltan ;) named his mount Alpo.
For non-Americans Alpo is a brand of dog food that horse meat was often used in. In the U.S. horse meat is pretty much considered a culinary no-no although it seems in some other countries it's accepted table fare.

I bet if you tried to starve the horse it would bite you, and maybe kick you.

Or maybe you lose it. Or maybe it can't take you anywhere.

As title. I tend it as often as I could, but it is still indifferent to me. Does this score ever change? And, what does it do? Will my horse run away if it hates me? :p

Curently, you don't. Horse disposition is not yet implemented.

Well it's got a nicer ring to it and is much shorter a name to call out when in a hurry than "organic polymer".

:D No argument there! Although... if you try giving Organic Polymer a sweet Welsh lilt, it's not half bad!
Try it, you'll see for yourself!... :)
But Alpo is pretty good... makes me think of something from the Alps... :)
Also...
"Aaalpooo! I've got your Riiicolaaa!" (well, I am very sleepy... )

well, if I decide to make another character and make them evil I shall have to go for equal footing and call him/her glue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoof_glue).

What's in a name? Sryth has outdone that with advanced sex change operations. We have the option to change the mount's gender as much as we like! Painful!

How true! And I imagine with the prospect of repeated treatments like that, we're lucky our equine companions are only indifferent!
(Under those circumstances, I'd expect them to go for our tender bits on sight, hooves and teeth at the ready! "Nice pony! Easy, easy...")

Or it could be that having repeated operations and not knowing what they are makes them chronically indifferent ;) .

.... That they're horses is an illusion - they're really mules.

Be that as it may (and as I have never had mine subjected to it), since I can't very well ask her opinion, I'll just as soon assume she's fine the way she is, and will avoid putting her through the ordeal...

Yeah! It is better to ride a mare. It is easier to control and more profitable if the GM allows me to add a "Horse Ranch" upgrade to my residence :)
Tetracapillactomist

... and that's a great idea! That future upgrade alone would make me scramble over to Faradmyn's offices in Talinus to scoop up the next available property "with a southern explosion!" (Just had to work that Stan Laurel line into the sentence, sorry... :D)
Back to being serious: the "Horse Ranch" idea really should be pitched! And just as you imply it - with the possibility of raising foals, selling horses too... Nice idea for an addition! I'll rep if I'm allowed. :)
(Oops, forgot this was left in limbo...)
EDIT:

As in rep, nice turn of phrase there with "equal footing" and hidden hooves, Darkrkngl, but be nice to your pony, and maybe you won't be treated to a mouthful of 'raw material.' :D

Along with TC's necrobump ;) I thought a little necrolinking might be in order.
"Mounts" thread, http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?t=381
Note: Also did a bit of housekeeping and merged a 3 post thread with this one. The 3 posts prior to TC's bump. Also added some tags.

Nice work cleaning the stables, Herakles! ;) And helpful linking!
In truth, I myself was puzzled initially - as many others were - by the horse's apparent aloofness, almost dislike of my ingame character, since in real life I'm fond of them, and so far they've always responded positively to my voice and touch. Like others, I kept trying to think of the possible reasons behind her indifference: did I miss something, have I been neglectful in some way, done something wrong? Perhaps it needs a stable home (a stable, see? :) All right, that wordplay might have gone SPLAT!... :)), or maybe her disposition would improve if we went visiting her family... :)
Oh, well, I made my peace with it, more or less - in any case, I don't blame or resent her... :)
