View Full Version : Couple questions for y'all

1) I've been exploring Jagged Hill, and far as I can tell all I need to do is follow the Hawk to the Smoking Hill and get a coin. I've seen the hawk before, but I couldn't follow it. Problem is that I've been doing the max explorations twice now and I've only seen generic enemies or else didn't find anything. Is it bugged or just rare?

2) Is the Finger of Dread worth upgrading? I got mine after my first fight in the temple, but right now I feel like I'd rather spend the money getting some skills up. Is it really that good?

3) I'm almost out of gold for some reason, is there any better place to grind than just hoping for good items on the repeatables?

4) Is it worth getting a residence? I'm almost at enough ATs.

5) Does Havoc ever stop grinding? You're almost at all 100s now. x_x

e: Never mind question one, irony so willingly got me the hawk event the minute after I posted this.

2) yes, you should level up the finger before you level skills or powers. You can learn more about it on the wiki (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/The_Ruins_of_Tarramyre#The_Finger_of_Dread)

3) The best gold/item drops are in the repeatables. The ruins of Yir Tannon often seem to give the most gold, but they all give out good loot.

4) Yes! Access to the cloak of the wanderer (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:1451_Cloak_Of_The_Wanderer) alone makes it worth buying a residence.

5) no, he doesn't

My two-penn'orth:

2) Is the Finger of Dread worth upgrading? I got mine after my first fight in the temple, but right now I feel like I'd rather spend the money getting some skills up. Is it really that good?

It's useful in a tight spot, but if you get yourself the Wand of Dragonfire that's often as good, doesn't do you any damage when you use it and only takes a hour to recharge. If I'm heading into one of the PG episodes I have both ready, and if you want to climb the leaderboards in the battlegrounds the Finger might come in handy - if you don't mind going back to Tarramyre to pick up more rings every now and then.

3) I'm almost out of gold for some reason, is there any better place to grind than just hoping for good items on the repeatables?

Nope. Though if you pick up more or less everything you can average about 2000 per run on the repeatables, and it all adds up. And selling things is a lot quicker nowdays. Re selling stuff:

Prices changed: you now get the best deals if you sell everything worth 275 or less in Mirgspil, everything worth 275-1500 in Graldok, and stuff worth more than that in Tryndmoor or at Mezaryl's. Details on the wiki.

4) Is it worth getting a residence? I'm almost at enough ATs.

Definitely. There are adventures you can only access if you've got one, and one of them gets you a nice piece of kit. Plus it makes travelling a lot quicker.

(I'm not going to comment on #5... :))

Yes, it is. The Wand of Dragonfire is also useful, and it doesn't hurt you. Remember NOT to use the finger when you have less than 50 SP.

3) I'm almost out of gold for some reason, is there any better place to grind than just hoping for good items on the repeatables?
Well, no. But remember to pick up everything and drop common weapons and padded armor when you want to pick up something and you're full up. Axepath is short and gives good items, but not so good XP. Yir-Tannon is longer but also has good rewards. Tarn gives a pile of loot after each building.

4) Is it worth getting a residence? I'm almost at enough ATs.
Yes, yes, yes!!! The Cloak of the Wander is AWESOME! And there are about 4 Adventuers there. And a chance to slap around Rokkmakara.

5) Does Havoc ever stop grinding? You're almost at all 100s now. x_x

Umm, I'm not going to say anything about that. He has admin powers over here.

All right, thanks for the replies everyone. :)

Try Tarn for max pick-up.

You can leave and sell your stuff and go back and get more. The reset timer goes into affect only after finishing the run, not when you leave.

There is some real nice XP along with the pick-ups.

Leaving makes it take too long :) [/whine]

How long is to long?

Scout can make the run (upper level) in 15-20 minutes.
Arabel started a run 3 months ago and isn't done yet.

It all depends on your point of view......

That's the danger of being a secondary. Or in her case, a quadrary.

One more question people; can you still use items more than once in a fight if you wait the recharge period? Like, cheesing Rokmokkora with the Wand of Dragonfire?

Yes, you can. At least in the case of the Finger - I don't have the patience to wait an hour just to use the Wand a second time, so I haven't tried that.

Ah, great. Thanks shadow.

I won't lose to that guy. >_<

Technically, you really shouldn't be able to use either the Finger of Dread or the Wand of Dragonfire in a non-lethal combat. At least, I'm not aware that either one of those devices has a "stun" setting...
