View Full Version : Thoughts about Thane Pyrond

I think it's commonly known that for a long time, Trithik has had a mostly bad reputation for being "a wretched hive of scum and villainy." As soon as Thane Pyrond became Thane and marched into Trithik, however, he immediately decided to deal with the city's problems by imposing a curfew, flooding the city with mercenaries and soldiers and in general by trying to stamp out crime with force. Personally, do you think that the Thane's tactics are justified, or do you think that there are better ways to handle the situation?

He has to handle it the way he's doing. How else can he establish an economic and military power base to wrest control of Tysa?

Come on...this was a serious question.

that is a serious answer.
Those mercs and soldiers can be turned from an army of occupation into a field army right quick once he subdues the city for use as a firm base of supply.
Edit: In other words, I seriously question that his real goal is to control crime, and that the means he is using for that prima-fascia purpose are effective for his real purpose.
If your question is "is a show of force the best way to control crime" then I might answer differently

...Well...personally I picked the first option, because I think Pyrond has Trithik's best interests at heart.
edit: Then again, you could say the same thing about Danzo from Naruto.

What...I'm still pretty sure that Danzo has the best interests of Konoha at heart.

Well that depends entirely on his intentions, and going by our latest adventures those seem to be more in question than ever.
If he's a power grubbing manipulator, I think he's doing the right thing. Stomp out crime, get popular, voted for president. It's also a legitimate excuse to house troops in his city.
If he's a kind hearted thane with the good of the world in mind, he'd probably look towards other options. Curfews and bans are generally not very permanent solutions, and going by my random adventures his mercenaries aren't the most pleasant kind. Or maybe he's just a traditional man who doesn't know how to deal with things other than this.
It really speaks for the game that you can make hypothetical posts like this.

He does. Just don't remind me that he has been referred to as Hokage. (Note my Tsunade obsession.)

Maybe Pyrond was never the one in power, but the city's actually being run behind the scenes by someone else. Like Tally. You think he's just sitting around in his cottage knocking back mugs of palo, when really he's pulling all the strings.

Haha, Tallys certainly has the money to be the power behind the throne. Not to mention enough magical talent and skill with weapons to make it extremely difficult for anyone to oppose his nefarious schemes...

This post has been successfully ignored, because it's obvious that Zm won't give me any peace, so why bother?
@ topic: Tallys could be ruling, who knows? That would be awesome though.

Tallys...has incredible influence, and in the absence of Thane Pyrond, maybe pulling a few strings to...
Whatever, that's really stretching things.

True, but who knows?
