View Full Version : Legendary S & P without "Train" button

Hey,
I just noticed that legendary skills no longer have the train button. There goes all the hoarded xp!

I'm nowhere near legendary in anything but I'm assuming (dangerous ground I know) you are referring to the excess xp in those maxed out skills and powers.
Maybe someone affected needs to query the GM as it may be an oversight since there has been mention of skills past 100 and swapping out that "useless" xp.
If nothing else his response may dispel any notions of either aforementioned idea.
EDIT: Just re-read your post. You mention the train button is "gone" but is the xp still there - hence the assuming disclaimer. :rolleyes:

Will the QS record them anymore? Man that's going to be a serious problem...

Yup, that "excess" xp after lvl 100 is what I was referring to. I have 2 such skills; but I won't be emailing the GM about it. But I'm sure there are others who will, if they haven't already ;) .

Interesting indeed.
Maybe the GM is implementing his own Sryth stimulus package with all the gold and now xp that's been "vamoosed".

Hum it seems at least you can still see yourself getting specific xp if you use your 100 skill/power. But if the QS doesn't record them, you get less xp bonus.

You guys make it sound like the xp is gone. Is there a reason to think that? Just because we can no longer see it doesn't mean it's gone...

Good point. Maybe they're recorded as they are received during gameplay and not from the stat screen.

I'm just going off Elrond's info as I'm nowhere near legendary in anything. Although if it's not showing my guess is it's relatively gone. However as this could severley impact several players I'm guessing the GM wouldn't have done so without an announcement so it may be unintentional.
I mean relatively gone since there is a server backup that I guess would have xp amounts available before the "vamoosing".
Considering the GM's history of fairness I don't think he would just erase it without any amends - look at the recent gold raffle. Either way, a GM response may indicate whether there are plans to either allow skills above 100 or allow transfering of xp or another use for that xp.

Just because something is not showing doesn't mean it's not there. And there's no such thing as "relatively gone". Either it is still recorded in the Database (DB), in which case it is NOT gone, or it has been deleted from the DB, in which case it is truly gone. I highly doubt the GM would do the latter, especially since we still get experience to those skills.

I'm a bit puzzled: do you mean that previously you could see the amount of specific xp you were building up but couldn't use for your skills/powers that were Legendary? 'Cos I've never been able to see that for my two Legendaries, and as far as I remember they've never had a 'Train' link either.
shadowblack
09-09-2009, 09:01 AM
Yes, in the past there was a Train link even for skills that were at level 100, and by clicking on it you could see your experience in those skills. Last time I checked I had over 700K exp in my two Legendary skills. The exact numbers are somewhere on the forum.

I levelled up Weaponry and Slashing to 100 some months ago, and I've never had the Train link or been able to see hoarded specific xp. Sounds like this is a change that happened some time ago, but it's only just being applied retrospectively.

I was never of the opinion that xp after level 100 was hoarded anywhere!
The goal as an adventurer is to reach legendary level in skills/ powers. Once attained, further xp accumulated becomes superfluous.
I have never read anything official to suggest that xp was hoarded, nor that skills and powers could be raised above 100 through accumulating experience, now or in the future.
This just became an assumption materialized through a common wish.
As far as I'm concerned, we haven't "lost" anything!
Elrond

True Badstench; but certain XP Smaugs worked very hard to have the xp collected after lvl 100 translated into general xp (at a discount rate). I once sent the GM a suggestion that such xp could be used to lvl up equipment that is power or skill specific.
I have about 100K in specific xp between unarmed and slashing. So, my loss (if it is indeed a loss) is minimal compared to others!

Now that would be a totally neat idea to be able to transfer xp from our maxed sk&p's to our sk&p's we need it in. .

I saw the link like 2 weeks ago to train. However when I tried to train my already legendary skill, all it said was I couldn't train it anymore. It didn't say how much xp I had in it.

Same here.

Mine looked like this:
Weaponry use train
Mastery: 100
And clicking on Train would bring me to the training screen, where it said something like:
Training Weaponry. . .
Advancing your level of mastery in the skill of Weaponry from 100 to 101 will cost:
* 1 Experience
* 0 gold
You currently have:
* 6,401,640 General Experience
* 400,000 Specific Experience
* X gold
"No further training in this skill is possible"
Or was it 0 XP and 1 gold? I don't remember.

Probably 0 XP and 1 gold. And maybe he hit something he didn't mean to when he removed the gold cost.

Except that if you read the posts above you'll see that it's been different for different people for some months now.

Hmmm, no one has posted anything about contacts with the GM to clarify whether the xp is gone or not. I still stand by my initial guess that the xp collected after lvl 100 is "history," "histoire," "going, going, gone!!!!!!"

I vaguely remember in one of the Q&As the GM had stated that excess xp will not be usable (never ever). Unless he changes his mind in the future, I don't hold any expectation.

Shadowblack steps up and says, "One question that is long overdue: Even after we reach level 100 in a skill or power we still get experience for that skill or power. This results in some of our experience being "locked away" and unusable. My question is, Are there any plans to let us use at least some of that experience? Maybe through an item or an NPC after an adventure (or a series of adventures)?"
Answer:
Experience earned over level 100 is not likely to be usable, at least not 100% of it, as it's thought of as Experience earned for an art/skill for which you're already at the most learned level.
Charisma added, "Will we have the option of transferring specific skill/power points from skills or powers that we don't use to ones that we use more frequently? What I mean is you basically get Weaponry Troll Bont forced on you but there isn't any weapon of that class that makes it worth having, so I imagine few people bother to train it. Yet we still get specific EXP to it sometimes. So some of us were wondering if we couldn't have the option to take specific EXP from that skill or some other skill we either rarely use or that we've maxed out and transfer it to a skill or power that we still need to train. There is, after all, no point in continuing to earn EXP to a skill that's already at level 100."
Answer:
It's a possibility there may be something along those lines available at some point. The Experience transfer from one skill/power to another wouldl likely not be a 1:1 ratio in any such system.

Since the GM's "likely" = "not in the near future," I believe his "not likely" = "no..."

So, the xp is still being hoarded; but it will not be transferred to general xp or used outside the realm of the specific power or skill!
