i am a free player and just started. i am starting out in the village of hawklor and every time i try to embark on an adventure i just end up back at the main window that asks me what i want to do. are free players not able to go on journeys or is something not working right? thanks

Hi and welcome. I don't get what you're saying. There are some adventures that are AG only, but free players can do the other adventures. If you could state yourself more clearly, I could be of more help. Mostly likely, you have encountered a bug.

when i choose to start an adventure, it gives me the background info. and what the objective is etc.... when the adventure is about to actually begin and i am supposed to be leaving hawklor and i click continue, it just takes me back to the main page that gives me different options like, visit this building or that building, travel, go on adventure, etc. i've tried every option and i always end up right back there. maybe it is a bug and i should deactivate everything and start a new account. what do you think?

You need to travel to Westword.
To start the adventure:
(1) Click on "Adventures for this Location"
(2) Click on "The Caves of Westword" (Or the adventure you're trying to start)
(3) Read what Corinnin has to say.
(4) Click on "Travel"
(5) Click on "Westword" under "Nearby Locatins"
(6) Go bash some Goblins!

Thingirl is correct. Not all Adventures require you to travel but the first big adventure (Caves of Westwold) will require you to Travel to the location. As she has already mentioned, to get there, click on "Travel..." -> Nearby Locations -> Westwold.
I would advise to visit Irzynn the outfitter and get yourself some armor before heading there.
Btw, this thread should be under Help Topics. Perhaps a mod could move it there?

Yes, thanks for pointing that out, Wetheril. General Chat is for stuff that happen in RL. Help is for when you're stuck on something.

Thanks for the mention Wetheril - moved.
And welcome to the forum David123123.

thanks. i did that and it worked. before, i had chosen to go to the caves of westwold, but did not click on travel afterward. i will make sure i post questions under help next time. by the way, i was only wearing leather and was killed in my second goblin melee in the cave, but it said i can start again where my last "save" is. i think i'll go buy some armor.

Go Iryzen in Hawklor- He'll give you some armor. If you could post a link to your character's profile, then I might be able to help you more.

Ok, "only leather" is quite enough to crush westwold. In fact, I'm willing to bet that Sae could have conquered westwold naked with nothing but his trusty (and shiny) longsword he got from Irzynn.

I think I may know which part of the quest is tripping you up. When I first played the game as a free member, I didn't think about hiding from the goblin warband, until after dying several times. Although the rewards for defeating them are really nice, you can beat the quest by hiding from them. The rest of the enemies--including the boss are not that difficult.
I agree with visiting Irzynn. There is no need to buy much equipment in this game, as most of what you can find in the shops you can probably drop from fighting monsters. I also recommend checking out the Sryth Wiki (http://sryth.wikia.com) when you get stuck. Just a warning that it is full of spoilers, but it can save you hours of frustration if you're having trouble.

One more thought, David: make sure you roll a REALLY good character before starting. You probably don't want to be playing a character with any attribute stats under 16 (I got really lucky with Brelster and rolled four 20s and three 19s). Most important is your starting MR (melee rating, how well you match up in fights), SP (stamina points, or hit points), and NR (Nevernal reserve, or mana).
Trust me, it pays to go back and start fresh with a stronger character.

And for a free player, try not to get under 18. 17 if everything else is better. Layla got lucky and rolled all 19s except for 1 18 and 1 20.

A normal longsword or Goblindoom?

A normal longsword or Goblindoom?
Goblindoom. Sae's MR with a normal longsword is 25.

Goblindoom. Sae's MR with a normal longsword is 25.
Right. Bear in mind that David123123 doesn't have access to Goblindoom. Or even the Knight's Warsword, if he started recently.

So you want MR 35+ (Wow, now I know what to do to defeat Sae if it comes to that) and 40+ SP and maybe some NVR for this adventure. IDK what Layla's stats were, but she didn't have any trouble with Westword. (Layla is a free character on a free account.)

thanks a lot for all of the advice everyone. i used to play d and d a long time ago, and had recently been looking for it, or something similar, on line, and found exactly what i was looking for with sryth. i haven't been able to play since my last post, but will continue in a day or two. this is great! once again thanks.

I hate how the server is always full. If you can muster up (US) $20, AG membership will let you have 24 hour log in. And if you're not comfortable with Paypal, then you can mail it to the GM.

alright i'll remember that. i'll probably do that eventually.
