Umm, that's been there for a while. I would have thought that you'd have noticed it.

Naw - more like not seeing the forest because those trees are in the way.

This was actually one of the first things I discovered when I came back. It sorta helps when you're switching out stuff for maximum NvR (although the effort to hide and unhide everything generally means it takes more time.)

I hide Icons. Everything else is set to "all". And most of my stuff is in a room in Stormedge Palace.

The collapsible categories messed me up during my first time through the Heir to the Flame, because I'd set rings to show only those I was wearing. I forgot about that until I'd restarted the quest at least once trying to figure out what happened to the Baleward Seal. I was on the verge of telling the GM it was a bug... *facepalm*

I like them but I'm so anally paranoid :rolleyes::o about "losing" items (yes even though most of them are not dropable) I keep them expanded.

That's why I keep Weapons, Rings and Misc categories set to all, and anything else set to "Equipped only".

That is how I usually keep mine as well. Only it's just all weapons, shields, and rings. This way I can toggle the use of my shield, and swap rings when running the various re-playable scenarios, in an effort to maximize XP (lower MR usually provides more experience). And then swap back to max stats prior to saving.
