Well going by your sig perhaps that winter collection might makes it's way to Tallys's shelves again - or at least that Spear of Eternal Winter. Comparable stat wise, a bit cheaper and perhaps? true RP bliss. Maybe the GM Tallys needs to be petitioned to bring it back out.

Drool AT's and get the damn thing ;) It is a fearsome weapon; and Elrohir, collector of swords and such, traded items to own one! And he'll go test it as soon as he can! Hopefully it will have a new power or improvement over the BR sword.

Round 3; You've Rolled: 7; Attack: Aggressive
A demonic snarl tears through the air as you slash at your foe
Your weapon's sends a deathly chill through your enemy...
Your enemy hsa been stunned!

Tested but not purchased...lol

The unknown power is.....
Fairly standard usual chance of extra damage (nothing huge observed yet though) plus random chance of stunning for one round.

Oh, it also has the power to make your ATs disappear. Its really good at that.

Elrond
06-04-2011, 11:23 PM
Hmmm .... I think the stun power lasts more than 1 round. But I'll have to do more testing to make sure. As to AT's Evaporation, that power is confirmed ;)

Edit:
- Elrohir just ran into a 2nd instance of multi-round stun. This time it was 4 consecutive rounds of a stunned opponent.
- 3rd and 4th instances of stun were 3 consecutive rounds.

Tempting, since it's only 120 ATs over the Shadowfire Sword (Diamond).

Two questions:

1) New sword has no bonus to shadows - though I doubt it matters.

2) Does the new sword heal you like the Shadowfire Sword?

If it heals, I'll get it - if not, then maybe later.

Elrohir hasn't been healed by the sword through 1 Tanonwood run. I'll do additional testing and get back to the issue. But so far with the limited testing, it is no heal.

But even if there is no heal, we might succeed to get that added to the sword by lobbying the GM.

Edit: Additional testing did not show any healing ability.

How long were these blades available for? I went to purchase one, and they weren't showing.

Are they tied to the latest "Blacktor" adventures? I haven't attempted them yet.

No they weren't tied to Blacktor and I'm not sure of their timeline - sorry.

And I'm thinking some swords/slashing weapons may be part of one of the series of Well of Blades Raffles.

Oh, but he does indeed! Haven't you found enough "Short sword (common)" yet?!... I know I can always be loaded with good stuff like that, if I'd care for the distinguished role of the Christmas mule (is there such a thing? - of course!... there must be...). ;)

I think Tallys even takes the vast majority of the unmatched items these days, that good old vulture... [grumbling incoherent spells and curses]... He must be selling them in Tryndmoor himself...

Just kidding, you boutique shop fru-fru! :D "Carry on, Carrion!..." ;)

(I want my Elvish Iridium Sword and my AS50 Chicken Gun!)

Strange how his adventuring buddies seem to die gruesomely; and that he happens to be around just at the right time to collect their valuable items!

Elrohir calls upon our Guild-Master to negotiate more favorable terms with that monopoly! Unionize, I say! And we should go on strike and return all the stuff to the bugger (but refrain from adventuring in the meantime). Paying 664 AT's for a piece of Onyxian iron! Unheard of!

Anyone good at slogans?

New pendants - some limited some permanent and a great mix. Also they add no encumbrance.

Including at least one that'll act as one of Wryxnn's (sp?) Rings - great news for folks that prefer Unarmed combat. The Shattered Pendant of Will, This pendant will allow you to strike enemies that can only be hit by enchanted weapons when you are using a normal weapon (or fighting unarmed). Also included are a few that boost NR.

Pendant Of Shadow (III) - 376 ATs. ID 12076

* Class: Armour, Pendant
* Encumbrance: 0
* Quality: Magical
* Melee Rating: +9
* Stamina Points: +7
* Agility: +3
* Luck: +3
* Requires 80 Thievery.
* Requires 16 Agility.

This thin, coin-sized wooden pendant, emblazoned with the black silhouette of a full moon, will often move of its own accord, eluding even the grasp of its owner.

When asked about this pendant, Tallys simply shrugs and mumbles something about Trithik.

A week or two ago, I sent the GM a plea to add an upgrade to Wyxryn's Master Ring to Tallys's. Now I REALLY hope he listens. I can't use the new ring, because the only thing I have that's worth switching is Wyxryn's, and of course I can't take it off without giving up unarmed combat, which would kind of break the character. If I could at least have a +3/+3 Wyxryn's, it wouldn't irk me so much...

Well now there's the Shattered Pendant of the Purse :cool:;) Will at 308 ATs with a +7 to MR and SP. Actually when one considers that it's +3 each over The Griffon Pendant along with the stat increase(s) from dumping one of Wyxryn's Rings (even wearing one of the "free" rings). Which will also give a bit of an AT refund it doesn't seem so bad.

However, I don't fight unarmed much hence the "seem". Haven't checked since the last upgrades but prior to (and still I'm guessing) all of my alts MR's are/were higher unarmed than wielding a weapon.

Maybe now we'll see some gauntlets, etc.... with the same powers trickle onto Tallys's shelves. Maybe even a limited time collection with pieces covering multiple, maybe even every, armour slot. Or better yet for the unarmed affiacondos a miscellaneous item or elixir. :)

To quote TC from an earlier post re: changes/tweaks........ "Baby steps......." :)

Aaah, that!...

Nah, I now follow the mantra of "you can't jump across a chasm in two bounds" (said, I believe by Yitzhak Rabin [?] in relation to 'the Palestinian question') or "you can't jump halfway across a chasm" or "you cant cross a chasm in two small jumps," or any derivatives and copy-cat sayings said by many people in many places, I think...

Two nice swords up for sale at Tallys: Talonblade of Ice and Talonblade of Fire

Talonblade Of Ice

* Class: Weapon, Slashing
* Encumbrance: 4
* Quality: Magical
* Power: Unknown
* Melee Rating: +44, and +6 extra vs. Dragons, and +6 extra vs. Undead
* Nevernal Reserve: +5
* Aura: +2
* Mind: +2
* Spirit: +2
* Requires 15 Spirit.
* Requires 18 Body.
* Requires 18 Might.
* Requires 60 Lore.
* Requires 30 Arcana.
* Requires 84 Weaponry.
* Requires 84 Weaponry: Slashing.

Four large griffon talons surround the jeweled pommel of this magnificent longsword. The silver hilt, fashioned in the likeness of a griffon, its mighty wings spread wide, is obviously the work of a master smith.
A thin coating of ice covers the first half of the sword's blade.

If you close your eyes while your hand is wrapped around the hilt, the image of a griffon, soaring between snow-capped mountain peaks, high above a wintry forest landscape, fills your mind.

While the origin of both this sword and its sister blade, the Talonblade of Fire, remain largely a mystery, it is believed that it is the enchantments of the master sorcerer Vyromar that give the weapon its extraordinary power.

While Tallys maintains that both swords are identical, he tells you that he prefers the this sword, the Talonblade of Ice, as he has never been completely comfortable with items that can burst into flames in the blink of an eye.

This weapon is of magical quality.

Max damage is pretty much the same for all magical blades (maxing out at 106 or 116 if I recall correctly). The confirmation of the stun ability makes the weapon a pretty formidable one.

P.S.(Things change, DonMoody. ...Perhaps. Perhaps not. Regardless, I doubt the meaning of the phrase "will be forever retired" has changed since April.

I was eyeing Bloodrune V, and could utilise it immediately, as opposed to the knee-capping level 80 Shadow Magic requirement of the Shadowfire blade, but as that one has significant bonuses against a range of foes, as well as nice SP and NV bonuses, I decided to hold on to it, and grind for the specific XP required to raise SM - for the privilege of using it. :)

(Also, I saw comments indicating that it has a similar power to the Hale Blade?
Which would be a beautiful boon... that alone is worth the -3 MR for me... maybe... but definitely so, considering the other bonuses.

The jet black blade of this fearsome longsword is alive with flickering, silhouetted flames that dance along its engraved length.
Set into the heavy, leather-wrapped, iron hilt of this grand weapon are three large diamonds. The glittering gemstones emit a dazzling glow.

Long and storied are the histories attached to the various weapons and pieces of armour that comprise the 'Shadowfire Collection'.

While these grand, but strange items had their origins in a desolate realm deep within the Neverness, it is believed that they received additional enchantments from the hand of a powerful shadowmage.

Tallys has always believed that a powerful, but mysterious shadowmage by the name of Nirith is responsible for the unpredictable and potent magic imbued into the Shadowfire items.

This weapon is of magical quality.

I figured Fury would've done swapped it.....

With a couple of magic-item acquisitions, Judge Fury rose 5MR (to nudge himself over the 280MR mark) and 3SP, but he had to sacrifice 10NV to do it. He has since been assailed by panic attacks and self-loathing brought on by an identity crisis.

I'm a spell-caster! I want my NV back!

And anyway... this Jingle-t belt is stoopid. It's like wearing a cat-collar that tinkles all the time.

And it's a bit girly!

For the sake of appearances and machismo, I'm gonna donate real money this next payday just so I can decrease my MR and increase my NV.

I imagine the other judges will be glad as well given the required gesticulations....

The fragmented remains of this stone pendant have been collected and preserved in a small pouch of thin silver mesh. Despite its shattered state, the pendant's magic remains as potent as when the stone piece was whole.

When pieced together, the pendant resembles a fist.

This pendant will allow you to strike enemies that can only be hit by enchanted weapons when you are using a normal weapon (or fighting unarmed).

Tallys has made it so the pouch containing the shattered remains of the pendant can be easily attached, thus allowing the pendant to be equipped like any other.

Personally... well, it's not my bag of tea, because I love the fact that the Bloodrune Tunic has an encumbrance of one, as I said before. For the time being, I'm fascinated by that... :)

Well, that's just the ultimate sandbagging, innit? (I have items that I do not usually wear, and for the longest time I was carrying round a Shadowfire Sword that I wasn't able to use - so that argument might convince others, but for me it's just saying things like "There is nothing in my hands, Ladies and Gentlemen, see for yourselves!" and "Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!" ;))

Kidding of course, I believe you... ;) (Just as long as it's not the emperor's new clothes you're wearing, or trying to sell me... :)

Judge Fury often visits Tallys. He likes to see what's on offer.

At the same time, Fury is miserly with his AT's. There are many items that will increase his Melee Rating and Stamina Points, but at the expense of his Nevernal Points. The converse is also true.

Having said that, it's time for Fury's controller... Badstench... to make a decision; Do I want Judge Fury to be the complete battle-mage or a Necrmancer extraordinaire?

By that, I mean should I concentrate my efforts toward MR as opposed to NV?

Only I can answer that, and this is getting close to the point of this post...

The forum is a cool place to interact with other Players and their characters. By sharing our experiences and achievements, we are really doing two things: 1) Expousing our expertise and 2) Positioning our characters.

Now, bear with me while I examine the folly of the forum... or its merit.

Sryth is a text game. It's a game that pits the imagination of the Game Master against singular Player Characters. Power is not determined by group actions, it is determined by individual reactions. (before you reach for your high horses, I already see the flaws in my argument, but I'll address those in due course).

Sryth is a game for individuals, singular persons, one adventurer vying against presented stimuli.

My point is this... It doesn't matter how many AT's I have. If I can withstand the attacks from anything various monsters throw at me, then I'm powerful.

And this is why I crave a high level adventure... and adventure where death is a real possibility... where every Nevernal point is important.

I want an adventure that's as tough as the toughest battlegrounds opponent.

I want them black (18+ to hit).

Give me those monsters and then you'll see... NV will become a desirable attribute. Magic-Users will reap their rewards.

Judge Fury will laugh.

There is nothing wrong with the above argument. Sryth is about the individual player in his own world. Only MP's and the Battleground Challenges are an exception. So, in Elrohir's world, he's "numero uno;" and in Racey's world he's the same. We're equal, each in his own world.

And the answer would be "surprisingly little". Only when I have the time to catch up with the wiki work as I play. Which is... not often, I must admit. I have played very little during the last year. Only limited-time scenarios and a test character. I'm waaaay behind current events.

I emailed the GM and he fixed it so that it could be equipped in the proper place. The rise in ATs is down to the system which calculates 'different prices for certain classifications of armour'.

I still bought it for the increase in MR and NV but am slightly saddened that Chareos now wears 'Bardic' plate rather than 'Battle' plate, especially as the battle plate had a nice picture of a heavy club on it and it went nicely with the Hammerlord Manacles and the MIGHTY SKYRAGE HAMMER :(

Chareos I think that Battle to Bardic choice was perhaps a subliminal one. After all it seems re: foes that you like to sing 'em to "sleep".

Of course, if you are lucky enough to have THE UNIQUE AND MIGHTY SKYRAGE HAMMER you can score the following damage in one round lol

Round 18 You've Rolled 19 Attack: Aggressive

The Skyrage Hammer smashes into your foe with unearthly force
@ Enemy loses 128
You spot an opening in the defenses of your enemy and unleash a truly devastating attack!
You swing your hammer at your enemy
@ Enemy loses 79
The massive, black-winged demon swipes at you with its clawed hand
@ You lose 0

Your Status: Wounded (71%)
Enemy Status: Wounded (69%)

207 in one hit! Come to papa :-)

I am trying out the Claw of Karsden. It adds two to my MR for only 12 additional AT. It does not appear to have a healing power, and it is only + 5 against undead, but it does have a very nice special and a stunning power. More to follow as I experiment more. I am having a hard time with the role playing aspect. I always envisioned my character as a swordsman, so we will have to see.

Nothing new except the Stoneheart items, which I just wikified.

Thanks to Shadowblack for wikifying the previous batch of items (the daggers). It's good to have you back on board in the wiki.

Actually Nolly's thread/post in help just made me realize The Sun Spear isn't wikified so here's the info since it's only up for two days (approaching one day). And I know the other Sun items were up before as they are wikified but the Sun Spear isn't so it may have gotten overlooked or is totally new.

Anyhoo....

The Sun Spear - 576 AT's and Item ID# 12053

Make this item Non-Droppable.

* Class: Weapon, Polearm
* Encumbrance: 4
* Quality: Magical
* Power: The Sun's Wrath
* Melee Rating: +44, and +10 extra vs. Undead
* Nevernal Reserve: +2
* Aura: +2
* Body: +3
* Spirit: +4
* Requires 14 Spirit.
* Requires 14 Body.
* Requires 70 Lore.
* Requires 60 Arcana.
* Requires 84 Weaponry.
* Requires 84 Weaponry: Polearms.

A faint, golden aura envelops this magnificent, enchanted spear. Engravings along its sturdy, wooden haft depict just over three dozen images of the sun.

The warmth of the sun flows through this weapon, warming anyone fortunate enough to wield such a formidable instrument of battle.

This grand spear was the prized weapon of a legendary Ryorsilian knight known as Gimredd the Bold.
This weapon is of magical quality.

And the thread mentioning it and its special, stun and heal effects or procs. ;) Don't feel bad TC I didn't know it either.

http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?t=1846

And while I'm on the subject other ID's in that range that are missing from the wiki are 12042-12044 and now 12050-12052.

Hehe... Thanks. (I figured that's what procs meant, but was racking my brain a while trying to find the actual word that would fit, and didn't come up with one :))

And had no idea the spear wasn't listed yet - overlooked, I think, as I'm almost certain I saw it just once before (but wouldn't want to bet on that:)).
(And finally I picked it up, couldn't resist the deadline rush appeal :rolleyes: :) Sometimes - not often - I too can be a salesman's dream... :))

Visit Tallys's Trading Post (near Trithik) to view some of the the fear-inspiring items that make up his special, limited-time Halloween-Themed Collection!

so pardon me while I head over to Tallys - times four no less. :)

Folks, if this is the same collection (I'm sure it is) it's got some of the best lower/mid range items around, especially for those on a "free" or limited AT budget like my alts which will allow some nice tweaking. Thinking of the Pumpkin Helm, Spider Web Tunic, Legging and Sleeves specifically, but there are others as well.

Gotta post the best of the collection just for the shock and awe value. And I ain't just talking about the AT cost.

Elder Spirit Blade (V)

* Class: Weapon, Slashing
* Encumbrance: 4
* Quality: Magical
* Power: Rage of the Elder Spirits
* Melee Rating: +50, and +7 extra vs. Undead, and +6 extra vs. Demons
* Nevernal Reserve: +1
* Requires 20 Spirit.
* Requires 90 Weaponry.
* Requires 90 Weaponry: Slashing.

The black hilt of this glittering longsword is carved to resemble the distorted, tormented face of a man. An Aldvari phrase engraved at the base of the blade roughly translates to: 'That which has passed shall come again'.

Your body trembles for several moments each time you wrap your fingers around the hilt of this grand sword.

Only the very stout of heart can hope to equip the ancient and magnificent items that make up the legenday Elder Spirit collection.
This weapon is of magical quality.

Bat-Emblazoned Belt

* Class: Armour, Waist
* Encumbrance: 1
* Quality: Magical
* Melee Rating: +5
* Stamina Points: +6
* Requires 18 Agility.
* Requires 18 Body.
* Requires 18 Might.

The solid, over-sized iron buckle affixed to this magical, black leather belt, is emblazoned with the silver silhouette of a bat in flight.
Just by looking at this magnificent belt, you're able to tell that it would likely be of utility as piece of armour for your waist.

On a sensible not those Vengeance weapons look particularly good value for money Tokens. At 332 ATs they beat the Shimmering Weapons but give bonuses to the full set of MR, SP and NV which will be very nice when combined with a Phantom Weapon.

I grabbed those Spiderweb Leggings and Sleeves as alternatives to Dragongem items for my two alts, who were struggling to come up with the ATs for the Enchanted Plume. It's a loss of 10 SP, but can always switch back later.

Thanks much, OS! That there be one wonderbra wunderbar blade! Hah! Be-a-u-ti-ful!

BC, you be dead wrong there, methinks, as that one came out of OS's missing Batman items alarm, regarding the Back-Winged gear, I believe (credit where credit's due, Caesar and all that), references to which have been propagated by yours truly on a couple of occasions, and maybe suggested to the High Seat, don't recall, as I write too much too often.

Anyway, seeing that blade awakened the undead shopaholic in me (damned zombies - who knew I had such a thing), so I'm off to Tallydilly or Piccatallys, whate'er...

Thanks for reporting, both (or more, had no patience to go back a page - but enough to post, go figure)...

OS, posting the stats to that pretty little toy blade gets you a rep, and I welcome Voltan's company - he can pilfer some items while I keep Tallys fully occupied.

[edit] 'K, took the time to go back one page, and it seems Zed was the original front-line reporter, so he gets a magical cookie, or mushie, or rep - whatever he likes...

Thanks TC but I think that item and it's description predates the hue and cry. But then again with my cognitive skills, or lack thereof, I could be wrong.

And it's rather suspicious that the Blackcrowe is involved in the two most recent dilemmas for yours truly (Ecthelion and the Han Solo reference). Better check the Hammertongue for hot sauce while I'm at it. ;)

Anyhoo... regarding the item and it's description....

Actually the item has been around for at least two years, http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?p=14456&postcount=279 and truthfully I'm guessing that's the first time the collection hit the shelves.

And the reference has been there since the item's came out it seems, http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?p=14605&highlight=belt#post14605

Iirc I posted (unsuccessfully necro'd for it actually which really annoyed me for some reason :rolleyes:) a pic of The Bat Belt in regards to Tallys. That's how I stumbled on the above posts.

I'm thinking about those items for the alts as well since the refunded AT's over their current gear with no MR loss over the Dragongem gear and an extra point of NR (at the sake of the SP PA mentions of course) will allow some more "configuring room". Hadn't thought about the Plumes in that regards though so regardless of my decision repped for the reminder.

And for folks that aren't wearing the Dragonwing that SpiderWeb Tunic is a heckuva deal for a comparable piece. Actually more MR and an NR boost and about 50 AT's less than the closet DWB comparable piece.

Same with the Grinning Pumpkin Helm for folks that didn't take one of the better free helms like all of my alts who only have Kozuron's (sp?) or standard helms. A fair bit cheaper than comparable items with usually a point or two more MR and an NR bump.

Hawk's looking at that collection as well (gonna be like being back in school and doing math homework, lol), but this collection are really nice for characters with limited ATs. And as Psychoadept points out, they can be returned if needed.

And this seems to be a nice collection for the AT heavy characters as well with that +5:eek: MR sword being the prime example.

Seems I'm still having CF aka cerebral flatulence :rolleyes: as I thought my post was in reference to the Halloween gear in spite of your obvious mention otherwise. I searched Black-Wing along with Bat-Emblazoned and variant spellings and belt, no Bat-Wing or variants though.

I had almost resigned myself to being stuck with the Shadowfire sword forever, but that Elder Spirit Blade (V) was too tempting.

I had to downgrade my Jingle Bell-t to the Dragongem belt, but since I've been wanting to get rid of that damned jingly thing for ages, no great loss. I'll replace the dragongem belt with the enchanted emerald sash the next time that comes around and my NV will return to a more satisfying level.

I'm getting the 'Elderberry Five,' but holding on to 'good old' Shadowfire Diamond...'

Trading in the Sun Spear though, as it has no advantages over the Elder cutlery.

Hmm... then again, the Sunny one it has a +10 bonus over Undead (even though the combined MR is lower - 54 vs. Elder's 57), and a +2 NV rating (as opposed to Elder's +1), so... maybe not.
I'm getting weighed down... oh, well, I'll get to pick up less 'Common' junk and rubbish - sorry (where's me manners at): 'treasure.' :)

Oh! You sold your Jingleys, Judge?! :D High price to pay... I'd have bought them though, just to prance about in a piece of history... Drat...

OH! again - I missed that!...
Cookie passed and the necro'ing torch as well - nice job and thanks.

What?! Oh no, you don't! Keep the torches (and any peasant mob after my hide, that might be carrying them)! :D;)

(Keywords may've been "winged +belt" or some such, and variations on that theme - not sure, I just entered and paired them randomly, restricted to your posts, displayed posts instead of threads, and tag-linked to Tallys, I think. :))

Thanks for the cookie, though - or cookie dough, though! :)

Things we do when we do what we do only to do the things we do, and not do the things we ought to do, or used to do, or rather do, but can't do, or won't do, or no longer feel like doing because others are not there to do them with us.

So we do the things we do to avoid doing the things we don't do but maybe should do, only won't do, or do them cos we can't do what we want to do but can't do, or if we can do, won't do...

Okay, this won't do. I'll stop.

The Sorceror's Sash right?

I recall you mentioning it before and I just posted about my concern over the FoB seating and subsequent indecision which led me to missing out on it as well.

And in hindsight it seems Hawk could've withstood the MR/SP loss so have a seat as the Hammertoungue's on me.

I have some relevant message(s) I'm considering posting in "Correspondence w. the GM" thread, which should hearten some players. (Maybe.)

Part of the message I'm thinking of posting concerns Tallys items...

So here's that bit of relevant info...

from Sryth Gamemaster gamemaster@sryth.com

You bring up a good point about Tallys and his weapon selection. He has
always seemed a bit one-sided when it comes to bladed weapons vs. other
classes. I'll see to it that he evens out his selection, with low,
middle, and high-end choices in the other classes as well.

New limited time items at Tallys for seven days - Abyssal weapons.

There's an axe and hammer that rival the Elder Spirit Blade V - +50 MR and +3 NR (instead of the Blade's +1 NR). The scaled bonuses are a bit different. +8 demons, +4 undead for the axe/hammer compared to the blades +6 demons, +7 undead. And the axe/hammer at 696 AT's are 56 more than the blades 640 AT's cost.

Not sure of the extra powers but I'm sure they're worth testing.

If it weren't for the FoB I'd seriously consider swapping the Elder Spirit Blade since hacking/bashing is NOT maxed out on Hawk. And I still may. I'll add all the items in momentarily so watch this post.

EDIT: Here's the whole collection - interesting to note the scaled bonuses also improve as you go "up". That might be standard amongst items of the same collection as I've never looked at them that close before.

Edit2: Just checked the high end axe and it's similar to the Elder Spirit Blade in regards to specials and that it has a similar stun ability. Didn't noticed anything else but I only did about 15 tests vs. the hardest training dummies (mostly defensive).

(Of minor note, but still worth considering for those trying to earn gold gathering as much loot as possible.)

I don't jingle at all lately - but now my belt does it for me.

And festive it is! (Thank you, GM, for allowing a noob to be as festive as some ancients have been for a long time! By bringing back the Jingle-bling, of course.)

Tallys's shelves are experiencing the holiday rush as well. I'd hate to be his stock boy/girl.

Seems there's now some Abyssal Swords, Spears and Staffs - 5 days remaining. If no one adds 'em here or on the wiki before I get to it I'll add 'em sometime before they expire (hopefully).

Also the Dragonbreath Tabards (2 days remaining) and Winteriron (1 day remaining) got slipped back on the shelves - or it's possible I didn't notice 'em earlier.

Well despite my jabs at Badstench Hawk is currently a wearer of The Jingle Bell-t - at least for the FoB and holidays unless something else limited time comes up.

So it would seem Tetra and myself have the beginnings of a troupe, however we need some more members. After all we can't be outdone by the crew at Axepath (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDiXPx2OqPI).

Btw does The Jingle Bell-t impart a parrying sub skill? If not it seems it should. And I think we better be cautious where we rehearse I don't want Vurii and that silver-tipped cudgel or anyone else for that matter ringing my bell-t for me. :cool: ;)

Tetracapillactomist
12-10-2011, 11:48 AM
Um... No.

I don't think so. :-)

The crew from Axepath is undead (whereas I'm living), so they know no shame (I can be bashful), and taste... Well, as to taste: undead aren't required it, or known to have it, I think... :-)

Funny, though, it is. But I'm just not gonna compete with them that way - and I'm pretty picky about what I'm wearing in public view... :-)

(I imagine the Jingle Bell-t to have little round bells attached to it, maybe - which I promptly rip off before wearing the belt in public, or - if they're the things that hold its magic - stuff with paper, and cover up... :-) With another belt, the tabard, any outer garment, anything... :-))

And wile on the subject of Tallys gear - have you noticed how quickly the GM is making good on his promise to begin bringing in equally potent sets of weapon alternatives to the almighty sword?... Deserves a bit of praise, I think.
(And it's great to be able to pick up a 'venerable' - heh :-) - piece like the Bell-t as well, like I said b'fore, at nearly the same price as the Bloodrune V, but with those +3 NV points...)

I was under the impression that 'dismantling' an item meant any magical effects of the item will no longer function.
Similarly, I was also under the impression that if the bells didn't jingle, any magical effects of that item will no longer function.

If one does not want to jingle, perhaps different apparel might be in order ...

DonMoody

This festive-looking belt, made up of interlinked squares of leather and iron, is adorned with a string of glittering silver bells. Now and again, the small, round bells emit a pale, blue glow.
Each iron square bears an engraving that depicts a snow-capped mountain.
Tallys tells you that this belt, despite the tendency for its bells to sound an inopportune moments, has long been one of his favourite pieces.
He also tells you that additional enchantments have recently been placed upon the belt by none other than the illustrious Ryorsilian Archmage, Hurenon.

No worries, Don. We can all be full of... wrong impressions sometimes. (Right?...) And assume wrong things. (Right?...) And jump to wrong conclusions. (Right?...)
And be many things to many people, and nothings to some. (Rrright?)

All's well. You have your reality, I have mine. Then there's 'reality,' as based on perception (sometimes confused with facts), and then there's my reality, which may or may not be, but exists nonetheless.

And the description doesn't say their magic lies in their ability to emit sound, read it attentively. But even if it did, in my 'reality' I stuffed them with paper. And wearing a tabard over it isn't proscribed, so no issue there.

If one does not want to jingle, perhaps different apparel might be in order ...

I'll pick up different apparel, when better comes along, sure.

If one does not want to jingle, one does not have to jingle, one can find a way not to jingle, and stuff it (the bell). :P

[edit] Also, I found out recently, that Hurenon is Sigynna's countryman... So you know... preferential treatment and all that.

Imagination. Unbound by niggling details. Sky's the limit... Just don't look down.
(On anything - or anyone - based on assumptions and impressions alone. Ideally. If at all possible...
You can dislike someone, but looking down may mean a costly case of underestimating...)

I can assure you, I'm not jingling while wearing the Bell-t.

Can you prove me wrong? Can you hear me? Jingling?... (I'm right behind you! Can you prove that wrong?) :P

(Again, maybe no point to this, most items are 'revenants,' but this way the collection's collected, and waste of time is successfully time-wasted, target acquired, task accomplished, I managed to displace my usual thoughts and concerns for a few minutes - 'we do what we do,' &c.)

He also tells you that additional enchantments have recently been placed upon the belt by none other than the illustrious Ryorsilian Archmage, Hurenon.

One of the enchantments that Hurenon added to my Jingle Bell-t is the ability to turn the bells on or off. :cool: :p ;)

At least that'll get me by till the FoB is over or a "better" piece comes along. ;)

I am amused by all this jingling - especially so when it is combined with such mental juggling.

Heh, you should know about 'mental juggling.' (Did the Talisman of Heroism's +5 Mind bonus help in the end?)

[Who was it that said there are "none so deaf as those who will not hear"?]

Well, you, just now, for one. No one person had said it, and many have. It's an idiom, a saying - not attributed to anyone in particular, I hear. (Can you still not hear me? [Jingling?...])

I also wonder what insight others are gleaming from this being "one of [Tallys] favourite pieces" ...

Eh. who cares: you play your game, I play mine, my way. All others do the same. (What's to read into that, anyway? It's one of his favourites, as it is one of mine, for the simplest of reasons: best stats available "despite the tendency for its bells to sound an inopportune moments." Unless jingling gets on my nerves, in which case I'll drown it out with the comparatively pleasant sounds of nails scraping on blackboards and cats in heat... Or stuff the bells shut, yes. Some noises can be grating, sometimes. Sorry - just bored and slightly indifferent, and you're prodding me. Oh, sorry, I know: you're not, it's just 'you,' as explained in my Visitor Messages. Easy mistake to make at times. Oh, well. The joke's been played [out].)

[edit] But you're amused, and that's what matters... Carry on.

Nice tables Tetra and surely you made a couple gesticulations and gyrations before unveiling them, because their appearance should've been heralded by some bells.

And go ahead and scoff folks. Said belt is a prerequisite for the acquisition of it's complementary spurs which are required to access the new Equestrian Guild (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CUXLuVjO-w). :cool:

And Spencer's post reminded me our grand residences need a royal ballroom so we can throw Big Balls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YUuyzQDmjY). :cool:

And to give this some semblance of being on topic ;) it seems Tallys has expanded and extended his holiday collection through December.

Some more previous released limited time items up for 2 more days. Stoneheart items, Sun items, Shadowstings, Claw of Kardsen, Sword of Blessed Night and the Epic Destiny rings.

And Hawk has his pride back as he's no longer jingling and gained 3 SP and 8 AT's at the expense of 3 NR in the process although his arms smell like ant piss, :rolleyes: ;) which is temporary since once the FoB (maybe sooner if more stuff hits Tallys's shelves) is over he'll downgrade the Jadefang Sleeves to the Ravenbone to get the Bracelet of Arcane Might back.

Hmm, how'd you manage that? Do we have Sleeves of Formication now?

(NOT what you think -- check the spelling veeerry carefully. Or cut-and-paste it directly into dictionary.com.)

Well more items have made a return at Tallys's including the Blood Crystals, Abyssal items, Demonhide Capes, Dragonbreath Tabards, Cat's Eye Amulet, Iron Ring of Sorcery and those Sorceror Sashes.

Blood Crystals up for two more days and the other stuff for four days.

Now the real question for Hawk is whether to swap that Stoneheart Belt for that Emerald Sash now while it's available or to chance waiting for it to return after the FoB since it'd mean a loss of 3 MR and 6 SP for a gain of 9 NR and 24 AT's. Which incidentally would mean with his current AT count he would have enough to upgrade back to the Bracelet of Arcane Might without downgrading his Jadefang Sleeves (which can be done anytime since the BoAM is a regular item).

Well I've got a couple more days till the FoB deadline to decide about it and whether to level Hawk's Weaponry up as well.

A couple new (I think) and primo (note the MR on the top one especially) capes/back armour up at Tallys along with the Bone-Banded Shields up for two and one more day respectively. The Shields are already listed and wikified iirc.

With all the flurry of limited time stock I luckily stumbled on them as Hawk's there now (waiting while I post, lol) considering reconfiguring now that he's out of the FoB II.

Anyhoo here they are spoiled for space.

Cape Of Sorrows 444 AT's Item ID# 12224

* Melee Rating: +10
* Stamina Points: +11
* Aura: +1
* Requires 18 Spirit.
* Requires 50 Lore.

Four long tears, stitched with silver thread, adorn the back of this black cloth cape. This remarkable piece of attire seems to whisper to you whenever it slides against your torso.

This is the legendary Cape of Sorrows, an enchanted piece of attire with a value beyond measure.

The cape was created countless ages ago in a desolate corner of a dark realm buried in the furthest depths of the Neverness.

An fleeting but overwhelming feeling of sadness comes over you whenever you don this magnificent cape.

Taraxo's Chain Cape 496 AT's Item ID# 12225

* Class: Armour, Back
* Encumbrance: 1
* Quality: Magical
* Melee Rating: +13
* Stamina Points: +5
* Requires 14 Mind.
* Requires 12 Body.
* Requires 50 Lore.
* Requires 60 Arcana.

This chain cape once belonged to the master mage known as Taraxo. While the Ryorsilian sorcerer never wore the cape, this magnificent piece of armour bears several of his most powerful enchantments.

Taraxo hid the cape away after enchanting it and never allowed anyone to even look at it.

Upon his death, the cape somehow passed into the hands of Tallys.

Tallys refuses (for now) to say how he acquired the cape, thought he promises there's quite a story in it.

New items up at Tallys which I managed to get before he ran me off when I asked him about the gold to AT ratio at Zorliarn's place (btw just kidding folks). :cool:

Also I double and triple checked the item id's as it seems the GM skipped one (12234). I also checked all the current limited time items up in case he slipped a new one into one of the previously released collections that are up. He didn't. Also took a very quick glance without checking id's at the regular items and didn't notice anything new.

Got a chuckle and Tallys got a :rolleyes: at this from the description of the trio of swords (one a +50 MR blade). Although admittedly the interpretation is open to a paranoid skewed literal one.

Tallys is always quick to say that the Blades of War (there are three) are among the finest weapons and adventurer could hope to wield, though he admits the endeavour takes a considerable amount of skill.

Still and since I'm both over analytical and paranoid of such game text (now who gets the eyer:rolleyes:ll) I went and tested with Hawk who has Slash and Weaponry at 100 and he wasn't able to wield more than one at a time with the training dummies.

While there I done some limited testing and the top end Fell Blade has the stun ability and an "average" special. But I did very limited tests - between 5 and 10 bouts with the hardest training dummy mostly defensive for more rounds.

Your enemy is unable to attack this round...

An ear-shattering war cry assails your enemy's spirit...
Your enemy cries out in agony...

Anyhoo.....

Just wikified the previous items, but one of the more experienced editors might want to do a proofread.

And while at Tallys checking to see if that missing ID showed up I noticed a whole slew of previously released limited time stuff back up.

Also regarding the missing id on the previous items while wikifying I noticed the AT costs and thought that maybe the GM may have intended at some point to have another item between the Dire and Fell Blades.

2/21/12 - Last Chance Items

Tallys, proprietor of Sryth's most famous trading post, is announcing the retirement of two of his special item collections. The Blessed Night and Winteriron collections will be forever retired on Sunday, February 26th.

Adventurers interested in checking out or acquiring any of the items in these two collections should immediately pay Tallys a visit at his Trading Post.

To reach the Trading Post, travel to Western Tysa and then to Trithik. You'll find the Trading Post listed under "Nearby Locations".

These items will only be available through February 26th.

Hey, folks - OS and Scarbrow have been furiously organizing and documenting Tallys's items on the Wiki. Give them reps!

Thanks PA - and you got a few more coming for all the NPC and location work you've been doing. Still have at least one more collection and sub collection to document. Then there are a set of capes and a few other collections that were released within a few days of each other that may make a master collection.

For anyone interested, we've been organizing the limited time stuff into "collections" via categories which are listed under Subcategories on Tallys Limited Time Items pages here, http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Tallys_Limited_Time_Items

Keep in mind they're often mixed and matched on subsequent releases.

Anyhoo before the non wiki'ites fall asleep, seems some new permanent items are up at Tallys.

Seems a shield and a axe collection are up (maybe more). I'll have to check the wiki for sure (if so I'll add them) but here's some of em of 'em and the IDs definitely are "newer", but maybe not brand new.

Current count is The trading post inventory is well organized, allowing prospective buyers to easily browse through the items for sale. Tallys has 329 items currently available for purchase.

Does anyone know the normal (of late) count - normal being regular full time items? On a quick glance it seems six have been added.

Anyhoo the best of an axe series and a shield, 312 and 224 AT respectively and top end items - although the other axes cover more range.

Ebonarc Axe (V) (Use)

Make this item Non-Droppable.

Five thin arcs of ravenbone are set into each side of the broad, deadly blade of this enchanted axe.

This extraordinary weapon has long adorned the wall just above the stairs that lead down into the cellar of Tallys's Trading Post. Tallys doesn't quite recall how he acquired it, though he is quick to say that the axe has always intrigued him.
This weapon is of magical quality. Aldvarian Ravenbone Shield

* Class: Armour, Shield

* Quality: Magical
* Melee Rating: +16
* Stamina Points: +1

This ancient wooden shield, its broad, curved face crossed by thin bands of ravenbone, bears several powerful enchantments of protection.

Most recently, this shield was in possession of the leader of a band of undead marauders that terrorized the remote roads in the far western region of Tysa.

And to quote Shadowblack (something "found" when culling this thread for wiki data) well para-quote....

Why don't we find stuff like this when we are adventuring? :)

EDIT: They are new items and I just finished adding them. Doesn't seem to be any other items, I'll look through it a bit closer later and post new if there additional stuff.

May join Spencer (or at least Hawk may) as downgrading a bit and getting Gibornn's MR potion will boost his MR more. Just a matter of if I want to have 64 more AT in a nonrefundable status and if so which piece to downgrade as most of his Tallys gear will affect close to the same change and AT refund.

Anyhoo that's not the reason I came to the thread as while at Tallys I just noticed something else. Is it me or did Tallys swap the placement of his armour and weapon lists. Something looks different and I keep wanting to go to the right hand side to check armour stats instead of the left hand side (where armour is listed now).

Which reminds me I need to gussy up that Tallys testing tweak and send it to the GM :rolleyes: (better late than never I suppose). And while I'm there I'm gonna check out the new gear and see if it has any unlisted special powers. If so I'll add an edit.

EDIT: The top end axe (version V) has the stun ability and here's the power since it's listed as Unknown,

Normal power activation, A broad ray of shimmering light strikes your foe
Your enemy wilts beneath the ray's intense glow...
@ Enemy loses 29

Stun special, A broad ray of shimmering light strikes your foe
Your foe has been stunned...

About 150 rounds and the power special damage range is 3-29 (mostly seen 7-15'ish - that's not a mathematical average that's me eyeballing it) and seen the stun twice both times for 2 rounds although the first time the foe was slain on the second round so the stun may have been interrupted. Also this is one of the few (maybe the only?) regular item with a stun effect.

Also wondering about the lesser axes. Since they're regular items further testing can be done at our leisure.

And since I was there I had the shield equipped and didn't see anything (i.e. healing).

Nope, not just you, that did happen, no more than a few days ago (a week at most?). That is what looks different, and same effect here: keep reaching for the weapons now, as usually it's the bigger list of wearable gear that I tended to check (or check first).

Lolled and I startled the cat. You bad person you! And now I present to you...
The Fork of Truth (http://lfgcomic.com/page/15)!
HINT: Its towards the bottom

*apologises to all pretty ... cats* Sorry, Mark... :D

HAHA! I got that fork already - stabbed myself in the eye with it. (Oh, I spoke some truths in anger, all right! :D They translate into the symbols above the number keys... :o) For Pony! :) (Thanks for making me laugh in turn. I really should start from the beginning and go though the entire series...)

Now... can I have some mustard with that rock?...

Odd that Tallys never offered a fork - they're vicious tools that could come in handy against one of those vicious rabbits. :) (OS had a great pic of one in a full suit of armour, wielding a warhammer, I think. :))

Yep it's in here (I think) somewhere as I just stumbled across it recently. I'm guessing when I was in here researching Tallys collections for the wiki. Which reminds me I've still got some edit tweaks and NPC's to document.

Found out albeit not in here. I'm guessing I searched Tallys limited time collection or some variant and it flagged. From the D&D thread,

Once again the "stuff" that's sometimes jogged loose can be a bit bewildering.

Nearly forgot about this one which took a bit to google. Anyhoo....

http://www.somethingawful.com/d/dungeons-and-dragons/monster-manual-two.php?page=6

TC don't know who the previous owner was, but I hear Tallys acquired some more gear and is readying another limited time collection (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZFl8CYHhZlE/SYoj2BpuGII/AAAAAAAAABQ/-fnPwa_4kGw/s320/BunnyArmor.jpg).

Haha - of course, addressed to me, that too. :) Yes, I was fairly certain it was in a D&D-themed thread - te second link is it. Bunny Armour...
It looks great - and that's a no-nonsense warhammer! Bunny or not, you'd not want the business end (either one!) of that - vicious rabbit. (Thank you. :))

Although, judging by their descriptions, some or most of the Tallys armour would look far more impressive, fully rendered!

On the forks: okay they may not deserve a special category but I do feel we can have them added to Stabbing.
And then spoons to Bashing.

I saw the bunny. I have fought vorpal bunnies but this one is better. :D

I also had the presence of mind to follow the AD&D link. To the sheer terror of my neighbours (2 AM here). Having calmed down sufficiently I booked a ticket to the Rain Forest for educational purposes. I am considering taking my toon with me. Resent reports (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_a4HUVbWMg&) suggest that a trip to Amazonia may require seasoned Adventurer with Mastery of the Dark Arts.

PS Hm. I am also taking my Mark 5 Secret Weapon. Think scratch, claw, hiss. :cool:

One bran-r-new item up at Tallys and a nice one. Or at least a non wikified one as I'm thinking we've seen it before - maybe as a WoB raffle item?

It's not wikified - checked via item id and for another id number via name.

I'll wikify it and check this and the WoB thread and forum in general for it and add anything else found.

Also the Dagger Collection (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Dagger_Collection) and Sorcerer Sashes (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Sorcerer%27s_Sash_Collection) are back up with the new item for 3 days. The other previously released items are on their last day.

Here's the new item at 588 AT. Item ID 12110. Spoiled for space.

Gripmaul's Hammer Of Cinders

* Class: Weapon, Bashing
* Encumbrance: 4
* Quality: Magical
* Power: Cinder Smash
* Melee Rating: +46, and +6 extra vs. Goblins, and +4 extra vs. Undead
* Body: +4
* Requires 20 Might.
* Requires 20 Spirit.
* Requires 86 Weaponry.
* Requires 86 Weaponry: Bashing.

The bulky head of this massive hammer is made up of a block of glowing cinders, bound together by an ancient spell that was cast during the forging of this fearsome weapon, many centuries ago.

This hammer once belonged to the legendary adventurer known as Gripmaul.

This weapon is of magical quality.

EDIT: That didn't take long. Seems it was stuck in with a release of older winter themed items back before Christmas. Here's the post (items near the bottom of the list). And it may have been released previously but this is the only forum mention I found via "cinders". http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?p=67294&postcount=906

Edit2: Wikified the item and also added it to the very small category of Items not part of a collection (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Items_not_part_of_a_collection) since it wasn't part of the original release of any collection (as far as can be determined).

So basically, the hammer head is a glowing cinderblock (http://cinderblock.concreteblockss.com/images/cinderblock-2.jpg)? Interesting. ;)

Two more new regular items up at Tallys. Actually according to the game save message they arrived yesterday.

Here they are wikified as the forum was down when I found and entered them into the wiki.

High end rings one favoring NR the other favoring MR.

NR, http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12272_Griffonbone_Mage%27s_Ring

MR, http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12271_Griffonbone_Warrior%27s_Ring

New uber collection up at Tallys for 6 days.

The Dreadmask Collection

Tallys has just introduced a grand collection, featuring the armour and weapons of the famous warrior and adventurer known as Dreadmask. These items will be available through April 8th.

Here's the expanded entry/infoid on Dreadmask,

http://www.sryth.com/ci.php?f_c=showinfo.inc&f_infoid=dreadmask

Very good mix of high end items. I'll get to wikifying them momentarily and adding the infoid to the encyclopedia (if it's not already in there).

And don't forget Vote for Sryth below - please and thanks.

Wikified the collection. You have to view each the item individually which are listed on the category/collection page numerically instead of by cost per Tallys.

http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Dreadmask_Collection

Also have to notate the collection details on each individual piece which I'll do later as I have to do that to some of the other collections items.

Also I'll probably do some testing and will post/edit the wiki if anything shows up. I'm guessing the weapons will have a stun affect.

I personally think they'll have a stun E-ffect - let us know (lol).

Sheez didn't even notice that, lol.

Haven't had time to test in depth yet, but I think Dreadmask's Rage may be the first? weapon we've had with a scaled bonus vs. Ogres.

Both have bonuses vs. Dragons and the dagger has a bonus vs. Undead instead of Ogres.

Looks like Tallys (aka the GM ;)) is making good on that promise to introduce some mid level items.

Not sure when these got added as I just stumbled across them.

Newest added via the save stamp is the 3rd, but that's also when the Dreadstone items came out. Need to pay attention to that regular item count more.

And for posterity Tallys regular item count is currently 331.

Nice chest piece especially for those that missed out on the DWB and are on a budget or wearing the Nighstong chest armour. Equal MR to the DWB but at the loss of 6 SP (iirc). +3 MR/+10 SP for 60 AT.

Voltan's wearing the Spider Web Tunic at +5MR, +11SP, +2NR for 108 AT so imo the Falconstone Tunic is a real good deal.

Anyhoo, I've already wikified them so here's the links.

Falconstone Tunic (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12243_Falconstone_Tunic)

Falconstone Pendant (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12242_Falconstone_Pendant)

I think that's it, but I'll take a closer look later and edit this post and the wiki accordingly.

Really wondering when these got slipped in now.

More mid level stuff. All are Falconstone items with the exception of one wrist piece (they all must've been added with the others as Tallys's count is still 331).

Kudos to the GM and TC for reminding the GM about the need/want for mid level stuff.

Gonna take the alts for a stroll through Tallys when time permits.

Here they are all together,

Tunic, http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12243_Falconstone_Tunic

Pendant, http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12242_Falconstone_Pendant

and the other pieces

EDIT: Again I think that's all of them. I'll take a real close look later. And the item count is 331.

I did say "think". Here's a few more items as the id's had some "spaces" which are all now closed with the exception of one ID that being #12253. I looked close this time and didn't notice an item with that ID which is the only "space" left in the immediate range.

Anyhoo found a belt and a sword.

Mr. Black's correct - the Cloak of the Archmage appears to be gone forever (and I was looking for it).

I owned it all to briefly, replacing it with the Demonhide Cape (Level 5), and now wearing something less majestic (due to recent AT needs).

Of course, Mr. Black is probably wearing the Leather Hat about now (lol).

Speaking of Items not part of a collection (the collection page above), Tallys has two new limited time items up and they are doozies with nice "bios".

Wraithlight Sword, http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12300_Wraithlight_Sword

And this is real interesting given the item title, description and creator.

Gloomforged Plate, http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:12302_Gloomforged_Plate

Makes me wonder what other Gloomforged items may be out there or down in The Mad. :)

Both items 'specially that sword are good candidates for testing for hidden powers.

Also from the item ID's seems an item may have been missed or skipped. And there's several gaps prior to the Wraithlight Sword (item 12300).

Tetracapillactomist
05-05-2012, 02:03 AM
Must see those, curious - but there's one thing never crossed my mind: had not thought I'd ever see another Gloomforged item outside of the Mad (though expected we might, within, or at the end, at least, of the next 30 levels)...

Possible bug with the Bloodrune Longsword V as there are two versions up - one raffle version and one Tallys version.

Sent the GM a report as this could cause problems if folks buy the raffle version in that they may not be able to return it. Normally duplicate items that are Tallys and raffle/etc... have different id's so folks can't cash in their prizes.

Raffle version is ID 1798 and the first one up. Regular version is 1885 and the second or last one listed.

Will post a reply if I receive one.

EDIT: Maybe all (I didn't check them all but all of the several I checked do) of the slots have both Bloodrune V versions up - follow up report sent.
