Alright, it was Tallay's Loot, like the original thread in the old forum. :p
As seen below.
Topic: Tallay's loot (Read 795 times)
Anyway, when you save the game it says that new items were added on 6/27. Anyone have an idea as to what was added? I was thinking that maybe there was a bracelet or two added, and then those Ravenbone Sleeves or whatever they're called looked new too, but don't me on this.

Both Tallys' and Tallys's are perfectly acceptable possessive forms for Tallys. Similarly, Boris' and Boris's are both valid possessives for Boris; Chris' and Chris's are both valid for Chris, and so on.

Well I would argue with you if you weren't right. Should have known better anyways especially considering Dooli's post. Actually I completely overlooked her mention of "Tallys's is fine, isn't it?". Wouldn't have disputed her either - looks like that cheekiness is red with shame. :o
Oh well, new forum and all it was nice to get that out of the way as it was just a matter of time before I continued my trend from the old forum - lol.

Actually, this is incorrect. Tallys's is correct. Tallys' is only correct if Tallys is a plural.

Nice catch Joddelle even if it proves me wrong on consecutive posts. Gotta give me a big fat A for consistency as I've been spelling it wrong all along. Oh and I'm putting you on the list along with Dooli, Young Ned and Badstench of people NOT to challenge to a Scrabble match.

So, what's item No. 312 in the loot?
Mattman20
07-01-2009, 06:25 AM
Well I think it's either..
Bracelet Of Arcane Might
* Class: Armour, Wrist
* Encumbrance: 1
* Quality: Magical
* Melee Rating: +6
* Stamina Points: +6
* Aura: +4
* Mind: +4
* Spirit: +4
* Nevernal Reserve: +7
* Requires 70 Arcana.
* Requires 50 Lore.
* Requires 15 Aura.
* Requires 15 Mind.
* Requires 15 Spirit.
* Requires 60 Destruction.
* Requires 60 Elementalism.
* Requires 60 Divination.
* Requires 60 Telekinesis.
* Requires 60 Fortification.
There are no markings of any kind to signify the power infused into this thin, silver bracelet, but it is, beyond any doubt, an item that nears inestimable value.
Only a true master mage could even consider equipping this legendary artifact.
Tallys will not say how or when he acquired this bracelet.
or
Ravenbone Sleeves
* Class: Armour, Arms
* Encumbrance: 3
* Quality: Magical
* Melee Rating: +8
* Stamina Points: +10
* Requires 15 Agility.
* Requires 15 Body.
* Requires 15 Might.
Thin strips of ravenbone line each of the enchanted chain sleeves that make up this set of armour for your arms.
It's believed that the ravenbone enhances the magical properties of these splendid pieces of armour.
Tallys discovered these sleeves (along with other pieces of armour adorned with ravenbone) while exploring the lair of a mighty troll king.
The spoilers aren't really spoilers, they're just a neat way of compiling the info about each object without taking up a bunch of space.
Elrond

It is the sleeves; and they are not too tempting. I think I'll pass.
Hastifer
07-01-2009, 03:57 PM
Yup.
That bracelet (along with the other four for a total of five bracelets) was added a little while back, bringing the shop's inventory to 311.
The sleeves added that +1 to bring us to 312.
But having answered (exhaustively?) that, I'd like some advice --
In seeking to optimize NV/MR without regards to SP, I have rented four fire eye items (gloves, sleeves, greaves, and breastplate), as well as the Grand Mantle of Deceit.
The Fire Eye items give me a total of +8 to my MR, while the helm gives me another +4, along with the not insubstantial +7 to NV
So, for 236 AT, I get +12 MR, +7 NV
For the AT (239 AT currently), I am quite sure there isn't a better combination (for MR/NV).
Any arguments/advice?
(Note, I don't have SF gauntlets )

THREAD NECROCROMANCY!!!!!!!!!
I returned the Grand Diviners Skullcap for 184 ATs, and bought the Dragongem helm and the Gold-banded Warboots for 184 ATs. Usually, there's a small differance in the amount of ATs you spend and the amount you get when you return an item.

There is? I thought the point was that you paid your restocking fee and got all your ATs back. Otherwise, nobody would bother switching their Tallys equipment for fear of losing ATs.

Sorry, that didn't make sence. I ment that I spent 184 on the skull cap, and got 184 back, And then I spent EXCATLY 184 ATs on differant items. And that usually, I don't spend the exact amount of ATs I get back from the item on new items.

Been speculating on that myself. If it's required to open content in an ongoing adventure I'd say it'll either be relatively low and/or somewhere along the way we'll be able to re-coup most or all of our AT's. If it's something along the lines of estates or the quickstone the standard price seems to be about 64 AT's.
Either way I'm glad I was around to get my Srythian "green stamp" from Tallys.
Well that makes me wonder about the GM lurking about the forum again - after all it wasn't too long we had a discussion along those lines although it dealt with the modern day "green stamp" - merchant loyalty discount cards. Also, there was mention along the lines that it'd be nice if Tallys had such a program.

Some type of loyalty program at Tallys would be great. Maybe he could charge a small membership fee to join the program. Maybe players that have a membership could get a small discount on items. Also when Tallys stocks a new item/s members would have the oppertunity to see and/or buy the new item/s. Just a thought.

Just took a look at all the equipment, and I can't help but wonder...How on earth did Grimhand get killed by just a dusk dragon and its army of goblins if he purportedly has a legendary level of destruction and an equipment set like that?
shadowblack
07-16-2009, 07:59 PM
Maybe it was a particularly strong Dusk Dragon? Ildraria is also a Dusk Dragon... Or maybe the dragon and co had some help from an outside source, such as Tallys himself...
Anyway, I had a look at the items in the collection and it seems to me that their main advantage is the Nevernal Boost - each one adds a few points of Nevernal. But even so I would not buy any item even if I had the ATs. They all seem a bit overpriced to me.

This ancient blade of legend, said to have been forged in the flame-filled pits of Hulnarim, was originally wielded by the demon, Kinjorek, as he waged war against his the greater demons that created him.
Upon Kinjorek's death, the sword is said to have passed into the hands of a mortal -- a man by the name of Bryngara. Byngara was master thief, a powerful necromancer, and an accomplished woodsman.
Since Bryngara's death, the sword has passed through the hands of many adventurers, though nearly all of its possessors have met untimely and gruesome ends.
Seven diamonds and twelve sparkling rubies adorn the dragonhide-wrapped hilt of this magnificent longsword. The living (and continually moving) eye of a dragon protrudes from the pommel of weapon.
This weapon is of magical quality.

Sword Of Blessed Night a new sword at Tallys is only on sale until * 8/3/09 * for 528 AT
This is one of the special powers I got from using the sword.
Your sword suddenly emits a chorus of shrill whispers as the dark magic from its core drains and paralyzes your foe...
Your enemy is unable to attack this round...
This is another power I got from the sword.
Your sword flashes with black flame as it cruelly bites into your foe...

What? the difference between Unarmed 100 (+72 MR) and Weaponry 100 (+16 MR) + Weaponry Sub 100 (+16 MR) is MR 40. Shield considerations are immaterial, since you can use a shield with either option.
With the movable +2 weapon bonus from the 7 Goblins adventure, this weapon just equals Unarmed skill of the same level. And there have been other +38 one-handed weapons out there already.
If you consider that the unarmed guy can put his 528 AT into other Tallys items, unarmed is still the superior MR choice.
shadowblack
07-28-2009, 03:49 PM
Not quite. By using a magical weapon:
1) You get the occasion extra damage that you don't have with Unarmed
2) You can hit all enemies, so you don't have to use of those rings that are a must for unarmed fighters
Joddelle
07-28-2009, 04:02 PM
True, and you'll notice I didn't say superior combat choice. But if you want to max your MR within a set of constraints, Unarmed is still going to get a higher number.

07-28-2009, 04:34 PM
What I really mean is that with the sword (I think it is indeed the first +38 single-handed weapon in game, Blade of Balance doesn't count, of course.) it's possible that you have equal MR with unarmed now. Frankly I'm a bit surprised, considering the initial settings. Not that I don't like it (it's not my buisness anyway), but I just thought it would happen a bit later.:rolleyes:

Yeah, but that ring is only 36 AT. Drop in the bucket next to 528. And if you haven't donated for ATs it's a moot point.
The special attacks are nice, and I've noticed that on scaled stuff my weapons guys tend to do better than Xaran with his unarmed. But on the challenges, they can't touch him.
Elrond
07-29-2009, 04:48 AM
My first lvl 100 skill was unarmed. And I was determined to stay an unarmed fighter at the beginning. It was awesome early on to have a relatively high MR making adventures easier compared to being a weapon-wielder.
But it became clear to me that unarmed loses its appeal after lvl 100 when MR becomes secondary to damage and stamina. More than 90% of enemies are 3+ anyways; so damage is more important most of the time.
Zum's challenges need a high MR in the latter stages; but the extra 10% in damage from weapons (estimation) means that the fight is 10% shorter, reducing enemy attacks and specials by 10%.
Aside from math and estimations, I regret investing hundreds of thousands of general xp into unarmed combat. after lvl 90. It would have been better if I had invested that xp into weaponry or into a magic power.

If you click on the "deadline" you'll get this.

Items purchased at Tallys's Trading Post can always be returned for a refund, even if they are no longer offered for sale.

New Item:
Irygoff's Singing Axe
* Class: Weapon, Hacking
* Encumbrance: 2
* Quality: Magical
* Power: Battle Songs
* Melee Rating: +38, and +5 extra vs. Undead, and +5 extra vs. Goblins
* Stamina Points: +2
* Spirit: +1
* Luck: +1
* Requires 60 Diplomacy.
* Requires 70 Lore.
* Requires 50 Arcana.
* Requires 15 Mind.
* Requires 15 Spirit.
* Requires 15 Luck.
* Requires 78 Weaponry.
* Requires 78 Weaponry: Hacking.
Little is known about the ancient bard and adventurer, Irygoff, though in each of the four ballads that feature his semi-mythical exploits, mention is always made of his magical, singing axe.
The axe is said to be enchanted with four songs that can be heard during battle, each of which produces a separate, amazing effect upon its wielder.
Tallys long ago received this item from the King of Ryorsial as payment for a service he rendered on behalf of the kingdom.
While there remains some question as to whether or not this is truly Irygoff's Singing Axe, there is no doubt that it is a 'singing' axe, and an extraordinary weapon.
The solid oak haft of this one-handed instrument of battle is adorned with twelve small rubies and five bands of engraved gold.
This weapon is of magical quality.

What I meant was with a small NR bonus like SMV mentioned the fix would be nice since it would add the bonus NR points.
EDIT: (Added initially w/o the "note") Although without the fix - the two NR points vs. the stun power would be debatable to some. Then there are the SP/MR differences to consider, throw in the scaled bonus differences and things are pretty even in my opinion. For me, my RP "lust" over the bardic description would probably be the deciding factor.

Donning this plain-looking piece of attire induces a few moments of shivering. It is unknown if the magic bestowed upon this article has any long-term effects on the person that wears the cloak.

This remarkable cloak, crafted entirely out of small links of black chain, bears several powerful enchantments. It is believed, though not known for certain, that the cloak may at one time have been worn by the legendary warrior, Merzekk.
The chains that make up the cloak produce no noise during movement.
Tallys does not believe this cloak was ever possessed by Merzekk, though he tells you (quite unnecessarily) that it is a magnificent item with few peers.
Note this line in the cloak:

At this rate it might be worthwhile to wait for the GM to introduce an item or two that fall in line with my perception of Elendil. The Iron Mask of Deception reduces my SP by 9. That's a huge fall in SP in exchange for +4 MR and +9 NvR at the cost of +148 AT's (which I don't have atm).

If the best option is the new Breastplate, so be it. If not, find the best configuration to increase MR and SP. AT's are useless hoarded if there is useful equipment at Tallys. :)

Very true. Though I'm expecting that the Tome of Attainment will force me to downgrade again. I kinda hate having to go backwards in stats, even for a good cause.
The trouble is that right now my characters have all their Tallys's equipment at that awkward point where the next better piece of armor is like 100 ATs more than what they're wearing, and they've got 30-50 spare ATs...

Elrond
09-07-2009, 12:23 AM
This came from one of Havoc's posts. It was part of an email he got from the GM about the Tome.
The tome will be somewhat costly to obtain, though not out of reach for
the average adventurer, and it will ultimately make up for its cost in
the bonuses and other rewards its pages will provide.
I really don't think it will cost any more than the QS or a residence with out the token from Tallys.
I take it that the last line in the above quote is from the GM? If so, then I was way off with my personal estimate of 200+ tokens for the tomb!

Too true; but the GM has been very generous with AT's since launching Fogbough. He's give players at least 60+ free AT's. And over the past few months, he's give us nearly 100 free AT's.

Your welcome. You will still have some AT's left if you buy those gloves. If you really don't want to spend that many AT's than the Ghostfire Gauntlets are almost as good as the Platinum Mesh Gloves, they would give your MR +3 & SP +12 and the cost 64 AT less than the Platinum Mesh Gloves. Both are great items.

I'm not entirely sure why the token was a limited time offer and not part of a quest, but since it was limited, two weeks time was more than fair.

Zedalion
09-08-2009, 07:10 PM
Sure, that seems fair. I mean, if I'd been playing the game at that time, that would have been long enough to pick one up.
But, of course, I wasn't. If it's the difference between, let's say, 36 ATs with the token and 50 or 60 without it, I'll deal with it. If it's 10 ATs with the token and 200 ATs without it, I'm going to be really annoyed.

Yeah, certainly I understand the GM needing to get some revenue going. I’ve donated a bit when I could, and I probably will again one day. Limited time content may well achieve both of those aims, I’ll grant you.
However, introducing a super-powered (Maybe? If it is super-powered?) magical item and giving an enormous discount on it (If the discount is enormous?) to people who have been playing longer is not, I don’t believe, a great way to recruit new players.
I mean, I’m recruited one way or another, 'cause this game rocks. But if the discount from the token is very large, I simply won’t be able to purchase the Tome (neither will other noobs, I suspect, but I don’t know for sure), and that will increase the rift between the haves and the have-nots.
In conclusion, I guess I just hope the discount from the token is large enough to make all of you guys happy, while small enough to not make me feel like I showed up one day too late to have an awesome new Sryth toy.

Ah, I'd forgotten the exact details. All I remember is that I missed the whole thing. I guess July was not a very Srythy month for me...
Well, I suppose two weeks is pretty fair for a limited-time offer. As a limited-time player, I understand I'm not in quite the demographic the GM wants to encourage. :cool:
But I still hate missing cool stuff. And there have been limited-time items in Tallys that I know were around for a week or less, that I've also missed. :(
But if the discount from the token is very large, I simply won’t be able to purchase the Tome (neither will other noobs, I suspect, but I don’t know for sure), and that will increase the rift between the haves and the have-nots.
You seem to be assuming that the Tome of Attainment will be a limited-time item, like the tokens were. Given the large amount of publicity the Tome has had (see all the announcements in the Game Announcements thread), I doubt very strongly that it will be limited-time. You just don't make such a big deal out of something that isn't a permanent addition to the game.
So you and other noobs wouldn't be able to purchase the Tome at first, but as there are many ways to acquire ATs within the game, you would sooner or later be able to purchase it. Please try to have a little more faith in the GM's desire to make things fair to all players. I understand that you haven't seen too much evidence of it in the short time you've been here, but you could at least take the word of those who've been here longer.
For someone who keeps saying that you like the game and are enjoying it, you sure sound negative about it a lot of the time. Do you tend to be negative in general? If so, I'll try to make allowances for it in reading your future posts.

This heavy iron medallion, attached to a thick length of chain, has been crafted in the likeness of a snarling wolf's head. Two rubies, each at times emitting a faint red glow, are fitted into the wolf's oversized eye sockets.

Why doesn't he introduce some limited time items that someone who doesn't donate can buy?
Because the point of limited time items is to promote people to donate to get that limited time item. Notice that none of the limited time items are completely "better" than the alternatives: The new medallion is better than the snake's head medallion in terms of MR and SP but doesn't give an NV bonus. Basically, those who believe that they would rather buy the limited time item because they believe it's more useful donate to buy it, but those who don't aren't missing out on anything.

Repped again, Smv1973, when I next am able. I was just at Tallys, and noticed he has 325 items...which was 6 more than what I saw yesterday.

I thought Elrond was Tally's Apprentice. Or perhaps he's been displaced? :eek:
(I will sympathy rep Elrond when I am next able, for putting up with me teasing him a bit too much.)

Thordon spends more time at Tallys than he does at his own home.

I hope the Tome of Attainment becomes available soon. After that I'll get around to checking if I can improve the stats with the help of the new items Tallys has to offer.

Item id 1595 was skipped. I wonder where we'll see it?
And I'm glad to see new mid-range items! I was getting tired of seeing all the new stuff costing 300+ AT

Perhaps with Elrond's "appearance" Tallys is looking for a new apprentice and SMV's petitioning for the job. :)

Thanks to Tally's new items and a bit of rearranging/upgrading, Altaria has finally broken into the 200 barrier for both MR and SP. :)

Aww, sympathy repping Elrond takes all the fun out of sparing with him. And Repped if I can for the MR/ SP achievement.

Thanks a ton for the repps! Your teasing about my mistake(s) is nothing compared to how "smart" I felt when I saw the mistake the first time :o . But oh well! That's what I get for continuously harassing a certain forum member over spelling mistakes :D

Grown men have been put in prison for harassing 14-yr-old girls on the Internet.
Of course, that was for sexual-harassment.

Maybe just slightly off-topic...
I remember some time ago someone was discussing creating a spreadsheet where you could plug in your number of ATs and it would tell you the most optimal combination of gear from Tallys. Anyone know if there's been any progress on this?
I'm tempted to try my hand at it, but I'm worried I may not have the spreadsheet skills required...

IIRC, it might have been Scarbrow. I'm not sure on the progress of that, since at the time I left, he had just finished dealing with the item price sorter.

That would be Havoc that was doing the optimization spreadsheet, and as he never got around to spending 300-odd of Magical's AT because he couldn't decide, I am guessing he never finished the spreadsheet.

It was actually Scarbrow who was working on the spreadsheet. I'd tried and tired a long time ago.

Isn't there a working version on the Wiki that you have to down load to use? It seems that I downloaded it once and it uses macros.
I think it's here. (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Tallys_Items#Public_Beta_of_Tallys_Optimizer_by_Sc arbrow)

Having achieved level 100 in hacking, I went to Tallys's trading post and exchanged my Axe of the Silver Blaze for a bashing weapon, namely the Soulsmite Mace.
First strike with it elicited this description:
The Soulsmite Mace drains away the very essence of your enemy's soul
@ Enemy loses 4
You execute a stroke worthy of your Archmaster level of mastery in Weaponry: Bashing...
@ +61 MR for this round.
The blood-curdling screams of your mace's previous victims rise into the air as you bring it down upon your enemy
@ Enemy loses 12
You've SLAIN your foe!
Hooey! I love this weapon already!

In the previous post, I said this about the Soulsmite Mace:
Hooey! I love this weapon already!
Having used it for a full day, I have revised my opinion. Although it is undoubtedly a good weapon, the Axe of the Silver Blaze is, in my opinion, far superior, and not just for the obvious extra MR point it confers.
The mace does not bestow any advantages against monsters of a specific type, which the axe does against goblins, undead and demons (by +10MR for each), which actually makes it 'hellishly' more superior than the mace.
These bonuses (or lack of) became quite noticeable when fighting against 'scaled' oponents. I found I was having to use my restorative powers more often while using the mace.
I have since traded the mace back to Tallys and re-purchased the axe. It costs an extra 76AT's, but it's actually a very good deal considering the benefits gained.
There was another reason for taking up with the axe again... in the back of my mind, I know the mace wouldn't 'cut it' against Thordon's hold on the Bone Horde leaderboard at the battlegrounds.
No... this is not a challenge... at least, not yet!
Anyway... the point of changing to the mace in the first place was to gain the benefit of XP allocated to the bashing skill. I can do this adequately by equipping Demonscourge, keeping the axe for when I feel the need to make a spectacle out of Judge Fury.
