View Full Version : Onlyinclude Tag Error

Young Ned has brought this up before, and since he mentioned that this needs its own topic, I'm going to quote him to start a topic for this:

(This is a whole new issue, deserving a new post.)

There seems to be a problem on the wiki right now involving the <onlyinclude> tag. If you edit a page that includes it, the preview will show "Invalid tag extension name: onlyinclude" instead of whatever was supposed to be within the <onlyinclude> section, and if you save your changes -- even if you didn't actually make any -- that same message will now appear on the page.

You can see an example of this at the Goblin Totem Block page. I saved the change with only one thing changed and the page now has the "invalid tag extension name" message on it instead of an itembox. I then did a rollback to revert the page to the previous version, and it still shows the error message instead of the itembox. It's as if the wiki no longer recognizes the <onlyinclude> tag in any updated pages.

Does anybody know how to fix the problem, or will it "fix itself" after a while? I just killed a page trying to edit some stuff.

While I've done some contirbuting, albeit simple stuff, on the wiki I'm not sure. Scarbrow's fairly sporadic on the forum but contacting him via the wiki should get a fairly quick response. Probably a redundant question but, has anyone tried?

If not and someone does you may want to advise him of this thread so he can post any responses. Absent that if anyone has any additional info whether it be while reading this or after would you please post.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:

This is as much a question as a recommendation as my wiki skills are still in the apprentice stage.

As an alternate temporary fix or safety could one copy/paste the page into a text file before editing it in case the above happens?

Thanks for sending the shout-out, Oldschool.

I just wanted to add that I noticed something strange. Apparently, it's not "completely broken" like I first thought: the quest box nested in the <onlyinclude> tags is transcluding properly on other pages, but for some reason, it has the onlyinclude error on the page with the <onlyinclude> tagged items itself.

This is why I stopped working on the Wiki.....

I DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!

So I thought I would leave it to the ones that do.

I asked him/everyone about that on another article, here :
http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Quest_talk:Meeting_Haelin

Shadowblack answered here:

http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:Shadowblack#onlyinclude

Basically, what I gather is that it will work itself out, given enough time sitting there (days, I think). Something about periodic processing.

Thank you for your response, Hastifer. I couldn't see anything wrong with the coding in Plague of Ashlyre (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Quest:The_Plague_of_Ashlyre) (which was the page that broke btw); all I did was change the MR to its 9+ value. I also noticed that Across A Crowded Room (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Quest:Across_a_Crowded_Room) also "broke" after Shadowblack's edits.

I truly hope it will "fix itself" given time.

Yep, the exact same thing happened on the meeting Haelin page. (Well not exactly, I hadn't changed the 9+ value -- but it had the same error for a while)

Very welcome!

All, here is the fix to the problem Wetheril highlighted, on quest's talk page (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Quest_talk:Across_a_Crowded_Room).

See Scarbrow's comment.

Have a nice day.:)

Ahaaaaaa... Very good. Thanks and have a rep for digging up the answer! :D

Making it easier for the ones that don't want to dig, if that problem arises, you must simply force the page to render again.

This can be done with a simple null edit (click edit, then Save without changing anything) but to make sure I use to change something (a blank line or a space is enough)

Wikia staff knows about the problem and is trying to fix it, but it seems elusive.

Thanks Scarbrow and repped when I recharge.
