View Full Version : Forum Request: Lengthening the timeout periods

When I write a post that takes a lot of thinking or special formatting (or just a lot of writing), such as this one (http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?p=13922&posted=1#post13922), I invariably find that when I go to preview it or post it, I'm no longer logged in because my session has timed out. This is rather a nuisance.

Would it be possible to increase the timeout periods so that the forum waits longer for activity before assuming you've left? I'm sure I'm not the only person who would find this helpful.

Why not stay permanently logged in?

How, exactly, would I do that?

Before you click 'Log in', tick the box which says 'Remember me'.

Hmm. I thought that would just log me in automatically the next time I come back to the forum. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks!

That's what I assumed too, until someone gave me a hint!

I've told the forum to "Remember me" and I've never timed out. In fact, I didn't even know the forum has a time limit before logging you out.

Interesting. I will definitely give that a try. Thank you both!

As for the "remember me" thing and being timed out, I use that, but I've been kicked out once or twice (although, that might have been on a comp where I didn't have auto login).
