Or have I just never tried to post back to back like this before?

It is not new. It also makes you wait 60 seconds between PMs.

I guess you would know a great deal about time limits between posts and PM's :D

EDIT: Actually, I think it's been there since the beginning of this forum. Same for the PMs.
