Any suggestions on which to pick? I am leaning toward Melee Rating since it's getting progressively harder and harder to increase MR, but I wanted to be sure nobody has a compelling argument for going with Nervanal instead. I'm not even including SP in the running.

I'm actually going to link Psychoadept's post (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=16276&postcount=497), for he has very compelling arguments for why each of his 3 characters chose the elixir that he did for them.

SP. It's my goal to have lots of SP.

I also went with SP.
I'm already in the top 5 ranks for MR, but my SP is sadly lacking due to Judge Fury opting for a high NV total instead.
The extra 4SP were greatly accepted, but I think each player has to weigh the options for their individual characters: What are their goals, what would be most helpful to them right now as opposed to the future, does you role playing philosophy dictate a more probable choice, etc.
Again, there is no right or wrong choice with this.

Heh, thanks! I would rep you back, but apparently I've repped you too recently. :)

Hmm, interesting arguments but it's been my experience that 4 SP just isn't going to have any meaningful impact on a fight. I could see it helping with your rankings but i'm not especially concerned with rankings. I'll go with MR afterall, but i'll be doing so more confidant I am making the right choice now, so thanks all :)

I chose MR because of the battlegrounds...those are seemingly open-ended, so more MR will always be helpful there.

Tao got NV because she is a mage and needs magic too bail her out since her MR is so low and +2 is going to help much
Anri got SP because a MR boost is useless in scaled scenarios and having a high SP is more important than having a high NV. It doesn't matter how much NV you have if your dead.
Kane got MR just to be different.
Actually he got it because he is better of as a warrior rather than a mage. His NV is too low for him to rely on magic and it too late for him to increase it by much.
It's funny that I put SP on such a high level of importance when some people don't even consider it.
I just don't think that the MR boost is worth it at +2

To anyone who still hasn't decided, consider the following...
Ildraria: 18+ to hit at MR 100
18+ with MR 102:(

There is that. At certain levels foes will remain 18+ with or without 2 points of MR added. My alts vs Barynbor are prime examples and from using the Fogbough bonuses, tweaking gear, and adjusting the configurable items I was well aware of this. Despite knowing this I still went with the MR bump for them.

Don't mention that big nasty, Hawk. Why, if he didn't hand be the flat of MY blade, as well as his, I would...
As you all can tell, Alanne has some issues about getting Brana-thingie.

Hmmm? I'm out of the loop here. Who is this Barynbor, and more to the point, where can he be found? It may be that I haven't yet completed something to meet him.

If you go to Zumryn's Battlegrounds, and speak with Zumryn, he will mention Barynbor. You can fight in a non-lethal combat (no powers or items allowed), speak with Barynbor, or view how many have defeated him.
Edit: He's 9+ at MR 200, SP is not yet documented, but with luck, and more than 200 SP, several members have been able to defeat him even when he is 18+ to hit for them.
Oh, and here's the thread on the discussion:

Thanks for the prompt reply. It always amazes me just how quickly people answer on this forum.
That would explain why I hadn't a clue who was being talked about. The last time I set foot in the Battlegrounds was with the ogres' infamous Bowl, and then I spent a couple months away from here building Selkit up to something approximating Taleria's level.
Based on your current info about MR and SP requirements, neither of my characters could hope to win in a sparring match yet. Thanks for the link to the thread. I'll take a look when I've gotten caught up with what I've missed.

Don't let that stop you from battling him. Even if you lose, you still get some exp from participating. (16-32 general XP?) It isn't as great of a reward as the one you get from defeating him, but you can battle with him as many times as you'd like until you defeat him. There is a reset timer though.

I didn't realize that you still get some exp even if you lose, Wetheril. Thanks for mentioning that! :)

Yes, you do. And I've seen 32 and 64. But it doesn't seem to be random.

As Thingirl says, I've seen 32 or 64 xp. However, I haven't seen 64 xp for quite some time and when I did it was for about a week or so then back to 32 since.
