I figured that is what she was doing. But in a way it was kind of her, I got to the battle 20 minutes after it was supposed to start and still had time to get a couple onyx bands. I just had to laugh, sometimes two of the last three events would be "Alanne was slain by Xarakk", or however it says it . . .

I am becoming frustrated with the MP's. I would not be participating in them at all if not for the Battle Markers. My frustration is in the amount of damage that can be done and the wait times to reenter a battle. As an example in the latest battle with Ildraria she hit me with damage of 108 followed immediately by a 50 boom dead. Also the nearest safe location is in another region. So even traveling by mount it is several clicks to get back and then you have to wait 14 seconds and a check to reengage Ildraria. I think that each region should have a safe location.

Southen Tysa is, I think, the only region that doesn't have a safe spot. But yes, it's annoying, especially because Talderus and Xarakk don't have the timer activate when you die.

I've been thinking for a while that maybe Wintereye Lake should be a safe spot once you do the quest there. Hmm, maybe I'll go ask that in Question for the GM...

If you just need to massively heal because you had to flee or whatever and aren't worried about saving, go to the Vault of the Iron Dragon and rest.

It's a lot closer and quicker than healing in the cave.......

Yes, Scout, but his annoyance (and mine too) is that when you get killed, you have to go back a long way to get back AND you have to wait 15 seconds.

Actually, the wait time is 20 seconds, but the timer starts when you arrive, so with a fast connection you may have to wait 17 seconds.

I read this post from Kaffe, but waited to post a reply until I saw ideas from othe people.

First, my reply is not meant as a negative to Kaffe's query. It is what it is, and it's my own opinion.

So....

Consider this.... the Multiplayer scenarios are a special occurrence. The monsters we face are not typical of the game; they are mega-monsters that require a concerted effort to defeat.

By that, I mean, it takes a concerted effort by many players to take the monster down!

These mega-monsters have special attacks and a mean disposition, and they are more than a match for any normal human adventurer. But, when a whole group of adventurers gangs up to take them down.... why are you surprised that they wouldn't unleash their deadliest of attacks?

Deaths will occur... and they will occur to the best of adventurers. I can only example Judge Fury as falling victim to the multiplayer opponents.

Shit happens!

I also believe that there should be a penalty to the player-characters who get killed by these monsters, and if a time penalty is the consequence, then we've got off lightly.

So... one of these monsters scores a mega-hit... in doing so, it killed you. Oh, dang!

You go into the fight knowing it's a possibility. You also have recourse to fleeing and healing.

Most players "machine-gun" their way through these scenarios.... click, click... and don't pay much attention to the battle descriptions unless their SP green line suddenly drops.

Fleeing is no guarantee of survival. The trick to surviving a hard battle round is to recognise when things are going badly and react accordingly.

In other wordss, quit while you're ahead!

Don't blame the game mechanics... we're all in the same boat.

If your boat is called the "Titanic", expect the worst!

I have a shorter version of that:

If Ildraria hits you for 108, and a follow-up 50 kills you, that's a strong hint you should have run away! ;)

Seriously, though, I do know what you mean about not having a SAFE location in the south region. If I'm fighting Ildraria I always try and kill her guard trolls, then go and save in Graldok, then come back for the battle, but yes, it would be nice to have somewhere slightly closer.

kaffe

Point taken on I should run away (like a little girl) lol. With regards to the wait time you also must wait if you are forced to retreat. But have been lucky enought to have recieved little or no damage and as such do not need to heal.

No matter how little damage you take, always heal, be it SP or NVR. You have to wait anyhow, so take the advantage. (with my connection I have time for 2 rounds of healing without being late back to battle)

You never know when 1 SP or 1 NVR might mean the difference between life and death........

This is one of the reasons all my characters bought their residences in Southern Tysa. That way they all have a safe location in the same region. (One of them's even in Thanevale.)

And yes, for the characters who wanted a particular type of residence (a Manor for Ned, for instance, or a Tower for Kermit), it did take a lot of refreshes to find the right type of residence in the right region. Well worth it though, to me anyway.

Not sure when I'll again come that close to all 5 in a row ...

UPDATE:

As of 04:33 PM EDT server time on 2010 Oct 09 I again have 4 out of the 5.
Problem is, the reset and new fight for one of the ones I 'already have' begins in a few minutes while the one I need to concurrently be "the illustrious adventurer" for all five MP fights doesn't begin for another 50 minutes or so.

A rather interesting set of MP circumstances for one weekend ...

ADDITIONAL UPDATE:

Was able to repeat with The Greater Demon Xarakk.
So while that makes 5 MPs in a row that I was the "the illustrious adventurer", it is not all five MPs.
However ...

The Redwolf of Sageholt approaches...

so I am five minutes away from starting the fight for a new personal best - a complete sweep of the current MPs (i.e. simultaneously on record as being the one to achieve the killing blow in all five MPs).

FINAL UPDATE
"The Redwolf of Sageholt is no more."

And it was Beth Draedon FTW!
And that completes the full sweep!
Yeah!

Full links for the sweep:

First, it was the pumpkin (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=41189&postcount=567).
Then it was the dragon (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=41188&postcount=554).
The tar spirit (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=41182&postcount=254) was next.
And for the fourth, I had to repeat on the demon (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=41191&postcount=612).
And finally it was the werewolf (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=41185&postcount=734) to get five in a row!

My last sweep was on the books for over 3 hours; this one barely even 3 minutes.
But on the books is on the books!

Note: The 6th time I've achieved a full sweep ...

UPDATE:
Just finished of the towering tar beast; so that's 6 MP KBs in a row (which ties my personal best).
And the pumpkin doesn't come on line for about 10 minutes; so the sweep holds on the books a bit longer then initially ...

ANOTHER UPDATE:
Just finished taking down the pumpkin beast; so that's 7 MP KBs in a row (a new personal best).
And no other MPs are active for almost half an hour (Ildraria is next in just under 30 minutes); so the sweep stays on the books even longer ...
However, that looks to be close all the time I will have for now as I'm off to meet friends for food and drinks ... though I might get a few licks in against the dragon first.

FINAL UPDATE:
Got the KB for the dragon - so that's 8 in a row and the sweep stays on the books a bit longer.
But that's all I've got unless no one picks up the fight as I'm off for a few hours.

In the past week (starting with a sweep on the 24th), I've achieved 3 more sweeps, nearly doubling my total to 7 sweeps.

The most recent (my 7th) sweep began with Ulgor (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=50856&postcount=387), then continued with the Pumpkin Beast (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=50859&postcount=689), more than halfway after Ildraria (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=50857&postcount=676), Xarakk (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=50858&postcount=750) meant I was almost there then brought it home with Talderus Redborn (http://www.srythforum.com/showpost.php?p=50860&postcount=910).

As previously mentioned, even with BOG blasts, it still takes perseverance and a bit of luck to pull off a sweep.

Even though I've been pushing the MPs pretty hard lately, still quite a week to get three more sweeps under my belt.

2. Lady Jemia (summermoon2) 12,622
3. Shadowblack (shadowblack) 10,525

Please continue...That is, for the next 80 or so minutes, Beth Draedon holds the status of being the "illustrious adventurer" in all 5 MPs!

For me, I rarely post an MP result (with 10+ sweeps and 10+ solos achieved plus too many KB/TD combos to count, I am finding it difficult to get 'psyched' about MP results so I rarely post them).
Even so, I felt this 'hunting for all 5, hunting achieved' attempt worthy of a post.
I would like to say I do appreciate all those who post MP results - thank you to everyone who ever posts an MP result.

And speaking of 'Thank You' ...
I would like to say "Thank You" to Shadowblack for his help in a couple of MPs, especially in the last MP I needed to complete the sweep (I would also like to say I really appreciate his 'Barry Sanders" style of posting MP results).
And say a very special "Thank You!"' to Lady Jemia for her efforts in the last three MPs I completed to accomplish this sweep.
