Well it might help if the GM would put a save point in at the "rest" screen as it would save some travel time after all those d@mn "You've been slain....." screens I seem to get while battling her - lol.

Normally after that happens especially if it's more than once I've got to have my revenge and will go back and stick it out. But when it's early and sparsely populated I settle for going back in for one combat cycle and getting the "last" shot in and leaving.

Back on topic, I've upped the point at which I run away to 75 SP. Usually works, unless I drift off and forget what I'm doing. What strategies are other people using with Ildraria these days?

Good question. You're right, it is less effective. However, sometimes Tarn and the BG seem SO long and boring that people would rather play in a MP. It's the same for the Pumpkin, Taldrus, and Xarakk. At least, that's my spin on it.

Same reason as for any of the multiplayer scenarios: a possible maximum of 2400 general xp for the battle, plus the possibility of 128 xp to AS&P plus 256 general if you get the killing blow (which is another 3968 xp for your quickstone bonus).

It's not really possible to calculate the xp to time ratio with any of the MPs, because it depends so much on who else is battling. You can't use any of the times posted in the MP threads to make the calculation either: for example, the result Nic posted above says that the battle lasted about 4 hours, but for most of that time no-one was fighting her.

I do know what you mean about Ildraria in particular being a pain in the posterior, though. She's extra mean these days. But it is possible to fight her without dying, as long as you keep an eye on your SP score and run away a lot.

I obviously have not learned how to do the run thing yet. That "breath of fire" thing gets me all the time. It seems that I spend more exp on runes of life than I receive from the battle!

The good thing about the lack of popularity of most MOPs is that less people == higher chance to get the KB. 256/128 may bot seem like much, but it adds up over time...

I was getting killed a lot more before I started watching my SP number at the top of the combat screen, instead of the health bar at the bottom. I try and make it a rule to flee if I have less than 75 SP left, even if there's probably only a round or two left. That doesn't rule out getting killed, of course - she can hit you for more than 75 with one of her specials - but it does reduce the likelihood. It seems to be working as a tactic, combined with a bit of luck - I got through that last battle without getting killed once, for the first time in ages.

It does mean I have to be in a patient and methodical mood to fight Ildraria, though.

EDIT: just saw Shadowblack's post - very true, though it can be a bit demoralising when there's only one or two of you bashing away for what seems like forever. I'm assuming it's largely a time zone thing.

Normally I don't enter in that case or if I do I channel conjuration till I get a flee screen. However since I'm also not sure about getting a BM for zero damage I "swung away" once and then conjured till I could flee. My damage (20 I think) showed on the results. Now it might have been that there was another round after that one and that wasn't actually the last round.

Heck of a thing...
I got killed and got booted completely out of the game. It went to the log in screen and then I had a heck of a time getting back in to the game. That's twice now something strange has happened while fighting her.
The exact same thing happened to me - I got killed in Tarn and suddenly I was at the log in screen, only I couldn't log in. I opened the main page and tried opening from there, but without result. After a short while I finally managed to log in and found myself at the "You are dead" screen. So it was something that affected the whole game, not just Ildraria.

Is it just me, or have the MPs become much more dangerous over the last few months? Also, I don't remember Ildraria's MASSIVE breath of fire when I fought her before the break. Is it newer? I used to pick Talderus Redborn over the others because he seemed "easier" to bring down, but he has been redone as well.

Perfect example was the other day when Scout was taken out (first time in a while by wolfie) with 4 back to back specials. Spam fighting doesn't pay with attacks like that..

I log on to see Battle in Ildaria's lair, race over, arrive at 1%, and get the KB (again! - see previous post). I've never "stolen" a KB before - fortunately I've never seen any of the other people in the MP on the forum (lol).

LOL been there, too Texlaw. What's also bad, though, is when you 'stand down' from the 1% because you know that you didn't arrive at the fight until 'moderately-wounded' and you're sure that the other characters deserve the KB more. Then you see the final results at the end of the battle and see that you had 'top damage' by a long shot (ie everyone else had gotten there late, too)!!! That happened to me a couple months back, pre-BMM.

Strangely, you arrived when I had reduced the dragon to 1% before retreating. But when I attacked the next turn, the dragon was back to 3%?!? Was this the foe getting more SP when there are multiple adventurers?
