I hope this is where I should put this.......
I have a couple of questions/suggestions......
--------------------------------------------
How do you make tables? The codes from the other forum don't seem to work here.
(I looked under the BB Code help/examples and it didn't list them)
--------------------------------------------
Will the HTML code remain turned off?
BB code is On
Smilies are On
[IMG] code is On
HTML code is Off
--------------------------------------------
I was just wondering.

I'll work on adding in table support.
HTML will not be allowed, as it can lead to major security issues.

As requested, support for tables has been added (http://www.srythforum.com/showthread.php?p=89#post89).

Is it possible to add preview feature for when you edit?
****************************
Also spell check. It shows when you spell something wrong but doesn't offer any suggestions. (If you haven't guessed, I use that feature alot.:o)
Thanks....

When you click the 'Edit' button, the default is to edit in place, without switching to a new page. If you then click the 'Advanced' button, you'll see the option to Preview your edits.
As for spellcheck, if you use it often, you might want to switch to Firefox, which has an inbuilt spellchecker. I'll look into what options are available with the forum checker.

Since this seems like the official place for it, I thought I'd mention the suggestion of having a sub-forum for replayable scenarios, like the multiplayer subforum.

I use Mozilla Firefox and I don't have a spellcheck option but it does red underline the misspelled words. I also think Scout uses Firefox at least when playing Sryth, not sure about the forum. The preview function does work by the way.
Unless the inbuilt spellchecker has to be activate/used from within Firefox. I do have "check my spelling as I type" enabled from the options (Advanced, General, Browsing).

Can we get the ability to create new categories for social groups?

I use Firefox for all Sryth related pages. My "check my spelling as I type" is also enabled but what I need is to be told how to spell it not just that I didn't spell it right. (I should have paid attention in school.)
If I have time, I can just use my word processor then copy and paste my post. This week though, I've been on a different schedule at work and it has left me with short bits instead of long runs of time on here and the game. And with trying to figure out the new forum, I've been left with little game time at all.
---------------------------------------
I tried the go advanced and found the Preview Changes for the edit screen.
Thanks.

When editing my signature I saw that the [img] bbcode is disabled for sigs.
Any hope of getting signature pictures enabled for regular users?

Could be where I'm a mod but when I go to signature I get two windows the first/top has the text box with tools and has an insert image icon which asks for the URL. The bottom window is the same as the one for avatars - it allows you to use a URL or to upload an image from your computer.

Could be where I'm a mod...
That would be the reason. The moderator usergroup obviously has "signature picture" permission, while the "AG" usergroup does not.

I wouldn't mind having the option as well. When you get time.
Never mind, I figured it out. [I]*smacks himself in the head*

Something that might be nice would be a way to view the rep that you've given out. Like, I don't always poast when I rep someone, and so I forget whether I have repped that peoson or not. Or, if that's too hard, maby the last 10 rep points. Or 5?

I don't think that can be done. At least not easily.

I'm afraid that can't be done, though if you PM me I'll create the categories for you.

Oh well. Don't hurt yourself trying to do impossible stuff.
Another suggustion, if it could be done easily, would be to change the default option for quick reply so that it automaticly checks spelling, instead of (for firefox users anyway) right clicking in the quick reply box and clicking on "check spelling".
And something else. Maybe there could be 4 subfourms in the Adventurer's Lounge. The existing 3 (Replayables, multilayers, and Braggerts corner) plus an "explorable areas" suforum.

It's true; there are so many explorables that they're kind of cluttering up the replayables. different basic concept behind them, too. OTOH, the explorables don't need all that much discussion.

Yeah, exploreables have stuff in them that you do, and then it's gone. Replayable though, are the same every time (except for all those onetime encounters in Tarn). But, your right, they don't need much discussion.

Is it possible to turn off the feature where the forum logs you out after a certain amount of time?
Joddelle
07-21-2009, 12:25 AM
When you log on, there's a checkbox next to the username input field labeled "Remember Me?"
Check that before submitting

Yeah, there is that. I just know I'll forget to log myself out again before I close the browser... :)

As a relative new-comer to the forums, I have a suggestion about the search feature. Apparently if the term is too short (3 or less letters) the search will not execute, as the term is assumed to be too broad (understandable for words like 'gem' or 'key').
There are, however specific terms (mostly abbreviations created by the community) that I tried to look up (e.g. "BOG", "WoD", "LoO", "CHR", "QS", etc...) that weren't recognized due to word length.
For example, at the outset of my forum spellunking, I was looking for additional info on the Wand of Dragonfire, but didn't find out as much as info as I could, because most everyone (understandably) uses "WoD"
Is there an easy way to add these terms (and any others that show up in the Acronym Thread) as exceptions to the rule, so that when a new forum user starts to become familiar with the vernacular, they can search for instances of those terms in the future, should the need arise?

I don't know for sure, but I would think that that would be at the vBulletin® programming level which they would have to change for © license reasons.

Definitely not a mod function and like Scout I doubt it's something even the admins can change. But we'll have to wait till one of them chimes in to be sure.
However the TAG search allows for three character searches. Btw they have to be three characters minimum. Unfortunately a lot of threads especially the older ones don't have tags added. I try to remember to tag new ones or frequently used ones. And without checking I don't think WoD is a current tag. With that said every now and then I try to go through threads about 10 or so tagging them. Which reminds me I haven't done that for awhile so I think I'll do that as soon as I get caught up on new posts. If time permits of course.
Probably one of the more overlooked functions. And I do quite a bit of searching and still forget to use the tag search.

Not a regular admin function, shortening the minimum word length requires server, system variables and MYSQL access. Sorry, mahansolo.
I've also looked and it seems there is no way to define exceptions or redirects for particular words.
Besides the tag search, another low-tech solution is to search for related words, or to fully spell "Wand of Dragonfire" from time to time so the thread is listed on search results.
Or just use the wiki, and the Help section.
