Judge Fury help...... Ignaceous erm Hawk may need to enter the Sryth Protection Program again.
A while back I sent the GM some correspondence and in the intervening time I sent him some additional unrelated correspondence which was answered. So I thought that my earlier correspondence was "null and void" so to speak until now......
I'm copying/pasting some of it from both parties.
........ Additionally, I'm well aware of your D&D roots as I myself and many other players have similar backgrounds. With that in mind I would think that we/you would have a more varied "Monster Manual" than their currently is in game. While they are various and sundry types for the most part their attacks are similar sometimes and this is not a slam but monotonously so. However I am heartened by the recent addition of certain foes with special attacks such as the Oakaruk. Again this is not really a complaint as I'm happy with the current scheme, especially since it seems your expanding foe types and their mechanics (for lack of a better term)...............
.......... otherwise. Actually I have been expanding opponent encounters as with the Oakaruk as you mention and am currently planning to continue this expansion. And while I do have a background in Dungeons and Dragons and I use that as a blueprint of sorts for the game I don't like to blatantly copy it for various reasons. However part of the problem has been how to effectively deal with the results of certain enemy specials. I'm happy to report I've resolved the issue and it is just a matter of setting up these counter-measures.
Soon adventurers will see foes, new and old, with expanded arsenals. Players that have a Dungeons and Dragons background will readily recognize these specials. Certain undead for example may drain life energy while certain other opponents will be a cause for concern as they may damage or destroy any and all items or armour. Think Rust Monsters, Oozes, and the like.
While the counter-measures I mentioned are still in development they are nearing completion. As a result there will be some new establishments springing up with new owners as well as the some old familiar ones ready to assist Sryth's brave adventurers. All for a price of course............. Hold your de-reps as I've sent follow up correspondence and will post accordingly. Actually I thought to hold off on posting this till that was done but I think this the best course of action. Hopefully I'm being paranoid re: "All for a price of course." However I mentioned some other issues re: gold sinks and BM usage which he addressed in fairly detailed fashion I might add and there was not even a mention of these counter-measures in there.
