The punctuation is a bit speculative, as I wasn't sure where exactly the first sentence ended, but I think that's pretty close to the original poster's intent. And "people" is speculative because I really can't see how "ele" means "people", but it's the only word I can think of that fits. Unless maybe "some ele" is supposed to be "someone else"...

You could of ( maybe still can) send a email to the GM and tell him of the mistake and he maybe able to restore your old character. The GM just did that for another player.

OK, disregard my "the GM possably could do it" post. Email him and say, he'll probally restore him. Although, you might be out of luck, as 6 hours have passed since you deleated him. The backups reset every 6 hours.

I think the GM's backup system is kind of like the backup system for your computer. It will make a new backup file every 6 hours. I don't think it over writes it's self after every back up. Billydakid's character was restored over 24hours from the time he saw his character was gone.

I didn't erase myself. Some weird thing happened to me where I got some weird message about some patch and then when I tried to log in I could go to the character page and when I hit continue it kept taking me to the log in page plus it deleated my character. The only mistake I did which I could shoot myself for is not copying down the text for the GM because when that happened to me I panniced, and forgot to write down the text to send the gm. If it ever happens again HOPEFULLY NEVER! I'll remember to copy down the text to send the GM. I thought that message was something the gm had installed before he went on his field trip because the message was something to the effect a game patch was installed hit continue. Like I said if it ever happens again i'll coppy the message next time and try hiting exit and maybe that won't take effect. Yes the system backs up every six hours but I'm assuming since it keeps like a daily log so the Gm could go back to the last back up where he restored me. Hope you get your fav back.

~2-3k. A new character starts with an adventurer ranking somewhere in the low 2ks. (At least, that's where Layla was. And that was after leveling stuff.) But only the GM knows the actual number for sure.

If I wasn't an Unarmed grandmaster, Robai would have been ranked higher than I. I estimated that 6-10 hours a day of grinding was the minimum for that characters quick assention in the ranks. I come back in October to see Robai was gone. No AG or non-AG listings. Wonder if Robai was using a bot to gain rapid XP and the GM booted Robai from the Hall of Champions??

Hopefully I will crack the top 200 in 2010~;)

I was at 308 prior to the summer. With many months away from the game...I have lost much in the rankings.

Alas...no quickstone bonuses or multiplayer adventures, and the recent changes to the Jadefang adventure make sure that leveling up is a challenge unlike most have to endure. And like Shadowblack, I began with less than perfect stats, making said bonuses even lower.:eek:

Now If I had only NOT forgotten to choose one of the 7 Storm items rewards....I would have a much easier time finishing the 7 Goblin series quests!...ahhh challenges, challenges :)

I've always been 161 - 165 - moving on up.

I'd probably be a few ranks higher if I actually advanced all my stats in units of 1 rather than units of 5. Since the game appears to handle stats in units of 5 or 10, I decided to advance my character the same way.

Before the XP's needed to advance got into the 4 digit range I advance by 3's since 3,6,9 (and their compounds 12, 15,18) are 'divine' numbers in ancient Celtic lore. now I am thrilled to advance one at a time... :eek:

You can get pretty close with a good XP bonus and making a point to maximize AS&P, though maybe not quite all the way in the top 100.

My adventure rank is #75, and the ice shield can give you a massive boost. It increased my rank by over 20. I also have been around longer for more one time events thought.

Karethi Yarafon, is Lawful (to a fault) she doesn't like Thievery, and is distrustful of Mages ( Necromancy, Gating, big no-no's)(Illusion is okay for entertainment)(Destruction is still unresolved). She prefers the wilds, is a little vain (prefers matching attire even over value) and is generally wary of everyone. As her handler this makes it difficult to advance her rankings since so much of it is depended on having all skills and powers, something she will never do. Still I have her skills at 65 or more, weapons over 70, and 1 of her powers at 69, most are at 60 or more ( Illusion 27, and Telekinesis 40). There are still several Quests to unlock and all of the Proving Ground adventures, so I am hopeful that I will still be able to get her to rank #300.
. . . and if I can't I will just have to accept (graciously) the negative repp. promised on The Gauntlet thread.

First off congrats on your placement in the top 100 of Sryth's Greatest Adventurers (http://www.sryth.com/ci.php?f_c=hoc.inc&f_h=total) Ka Keng. Definitely rep-worthy.

Now my customary rambling two-cents worth.......

The recent MR/SP bonus items (Bowl of Blood, Goblin Totem, Black Wisp) and a leveled Ice Shield should enable you to get into the top 100 without significant grinding or donating. With no grinding or donating, I dunno.

The majority of my grinding (really limited overall of late) is spent on my main Hawk. With the secondary characters I usually try to run one full grinding circuit with one of them a week then alternate. When I'm grinding with my main and have some time I'll throw in an occasional single grinding run, although usually not Tarn or the Battlegrounds because of time. I'd say that's pretty conservative, especially for those in the top 100 that do not donate.

I just recently finished all the single run content with all of them and currently they are ranked 74th, 80th and 81st and that fluctuates a bit depending on the Fogbough bonuses. I have not donated nor have I won any raffle items for any of them but they've had some limited time event rewards. I did however burn a fair amount of their general xp reserves getting them into the top 100 then once all the single run content was completed a small amount to get them more comfortably into the top 100 which is their current standings.

However, each of them is sitting on about 275k general xp give or take a thousand or so. I'm waiting to see what happens with Wurmwrit's Seeds then I probably will again burn that reserve down to 200 to 250 thousand leveling. I'd like to hold onto a bit and probably more than normally would be needed for leveling potential future items and skills/powers. Primarily, since they won't be accumulating any significant amount aside from new content since my main will now get the most of my playing/grinding attention.

However, I'm not dipping into my mains general xp hoard nor do I have any immediate plans to except for those times when I'm pretty close to jumping a level with specific xp only.

When I created my fourth character, Jazz, I went the 'purist' route of no AS&P rewards until she had all her skills and powers, and when she'd finished all the content then available she was ranked somewhere around #85. That was without the Ice Shield and without using any significant general xp.

Admittedly that was a year or so back, but it wouldn't surprise me if you could still achieve something similar, given that Jazz is currently ranked #98 even though I've done no grinding with her and she's not up to date on current content.

She's been doing some of the new content, but I always keep things in reserve with my three secondaries for those days when I just can't face grinding with Rhia. But she hasn't done the Bowl of Blood, or got the Wisp, or found everything in Fogbough yet (though unlike Rhia, she is up to date with PGVI). I have put a bit of general xp in recently, but not a great deal: she's sitting on an 100,000 general reserve.

But yes, it does sound like your secondaries are in a similar position.

You need less than 33,000 exp for leveling the ice shield. It's good to have some extra on hand for surprises, though. :)

I'm ranked #5, and I think this is a realistic ranking.

However, I've often wondered exactly how the scoring system works for rank.

Elendil and Thordon are undisputable kings of MR and SP ranks, but Magical tops the list.

I have a feeling Joddelle would come a close second.

And I know Shadowblack is hoarding so many XP points that it would turn the rest of us green with envy. If he spent them all, I'd probably drop a place in the rank.

which suggests the ranking sytem is decided by MR, SP.... and the total amount of XP spent in the achieving of levels.

Example: Judge Fury has 2 powers at level 100. To achieve this, I spent the same amount of XP than raising my other powers equally, but it took longer to achieve.

OK... regarding rankings I will now put my secret shame on display for all to see. When I started my first character I was just messing around and had no real idea what I was doing. I never donated (other than the $20 AG membership) and that's a good thing because poor planning led to that guy being pretty worthless. Then I created my current character, planned better and ended up with a pretty decent guy, I think.
But here is the rub: I bought my way up the ladder. Not on purpose, mind you... but the result is the same. After looking at those cool Tallys items for so long, I decided I really needed a few of them so I donated a little (then a little more and so on). Now I have a character that is ranked higher than he really should be because he's got some good gear. Too those I passed on the ladder with the simple swipe of a credit card... I apologize. I didn't pay that much attention to the rankings and honestly didn't realize that the equipment would make THAT much of a difference. I just wanted some cool toys. Given that preamble, here are my rankings:

I'm appreciative of the people who are recognised 'grinders'... Rommel for one, McRowley for another.

I don't grind any more, so I expect to be overtaken sooner or later.

Still, when you look at the placings of old-time players like Trog and Chase, or Nathair Ap Dubh.... it goes to show how new game releases can have an effect on rankings vs time spent playing.

Having said that, I was involved in a multi player battle with Thordon this morning.... he was scoring twice as fast as me, so I guess connection speed has a lot to do with it.

@ Mordain.... Don't sweat it. I've donated very little and then only when I renewed after my first year which was just recently. However, I freely acknowledge the fringe benefits all of us reap from donations large and small. That being the GM's continued full-time employment as GM.

@ Badstench.... Excellent observations regarding not grinding and slipping in the rankings. I've been in a definite grinding lull lately but have started back. Props to Wetheril as it definitely helps to have a goal. Mine currently being to grind that gold back up to the max.

That's not a gripe as I seem to be on the upper end of of the list of members in regards to fast connections. However, there are defiintely several that seem to have "commercial grade" connections.

I understand your quandary, Mordain. Many people view the "big donators" with a measure of envy, while those who've been grinding for a good long time gain respect for their dedication. Some of the "stigma" associated with big spending goes away after you've proven yourself to climb the ranks through grinding, but it doesn't completely go away. Although it's very understandable; it admittedly isn't exactly a fair assessment of players. As Oldschool mentioned, you are helping to support the game by allowing the GM to continue producing Sryth as his livelihood, so don't be ashamed of it. :)

I'm aware that Nathair Ap Dubh is ranked, and I've heard of Trog and Chase (even swear I spotted Trog at Zumryns), but don't see them on the rankings. Are they unranked, like Joddelle?

Ok, someone help me out on how the rankings are done. My two characters are Chuck and Fred. Chuck has been in the 115 range for a few weeks. Recently Fred made a big jump in ranks, partly because of moving archery up to level 87. So a few days ago, Fred was at 117 and Chuck was at 118. Today, I noticed that Fred fell back to 126, but Chuck was still at 118. How does Fred go from higher than Chuck to lower than Chuck without either of them leveling up any skills or powers? The only thing I could think of was that Fred's high level in archery became worth less as many others leveled up their archery. Is that it, or am I missing something?

Check your gear. Often an unexpected drop in the rankings results from having different gear equipped. For example the Hale Blade or Demonscourge instead of the SSL. Also not having the Fogbough bonuses "active" can cause a dip in the rankings although I don't think that much of a slide.

The ranks are calculated based on your equipment as of the last time you saved your game. Maybe you hadn't saved while still having the Hale Blade equipped before.

Scout's currently ranked #19 (was #16 for a short time). Since July I rarely put in more than 1/2 hour a day. Usually only the couple minutes it takes to do the CHR run for all 4 of mine and that's it.

Prior to July, my guess would be 3-4 hours a day Mon-Fri and 6+ Sat and Sun.

Top 15 are the grinding guru's in the game. No. 11 is an exception as I've never gotten 100K total xp in a day of grinding (not counting massive xp rewards from adventures).

Some of the top grinders put in 3-4 hours a day. Few log in more than that. I am lucky to grind an average of 1 to 1.5 hours a day. That is translated into 1 Tarn run, 1 jadefang run, and occasional ice troll, and an occasional Bone Hoard challenge.

I vary a lot: some days I'll rack up about 50,000 xp and then maybe I won't do any grinding for a few days, or just the odd Tarn run or MP. I never think about it in terms of hours played (probably because I don't really want to think about it!).

Congratulations on your rank in the Hall of Champions! My primary character, Altaria is currently ranked #14, and before that, was #15 last week. About two months ago, I was ranked around #20.

On a good day grinding, I will get 100k+ exp (10k+ on my quickstone daily bonus), and on a not so good day when I have more limited time and bad luck, sometimes just around 50k exp. I average about 4-6 hours of playing time throughout the day; sometimes more, sometimes less depending on what I need to get done for the day.

Hawk's best ranking has been #17 which he's slid down from and sits currently at #20.


Considering the limited amount of playing time I've put in lately - especially with the alts this should serve as a reminder/notice for players new and old that top 100 is realistically attainable.

I've done some moderate grinding with the secondaries - mostly I try to alternate them on a weekly basis while Hawk is waiting for timers to reset.

However all the new content in the last six months or so have nearly vaporized those moments since there's almost always something available. Also my grinding has been nearly nonexistent even with Hawk except for a short spurt now and then. The new screen testing and now the alts hitting the AS&P 80/70 benchmark and rankings have gotten me outta that slump. Now if real life would cooperate - lol.

I have won two raffles (Banderyp's and Battle Circlets) with Hawk. Also I've donated with Hawk when I renewed taking advantage of the generous renewal donation option and a small side donation. However I haven't dontated nor won any raffles with the alts.

Guess what I'm saying is that anyone that thinks the top 100 is only for top donors or hardcore grinders - here's a little first hand perspective. Actually the top 50 isn't out of reach given some grinding.

Biggest advantage I've had is the forum/wiki from early on since I didn't fall prey to the Sryth learning curve. Also the opportunities for xp from first run content and particularly replayable (grinding) content has skyrocketed since I've been playing - which is just over a year.

Kudos for the GM for continually "evolving" a fantastic game.

Speaking of the Top 50, I notice a number of them don't appear to participate in the forum, which is surprising. One that comes to mind is Rebel Shell (ghostmo), who invariably shows up in the MP fights. Maybe he/she and others participate here under a different name, but I don't know.

Actually, today I finally got around to trying D&D online since it's now free (more or less). It's not too bad since you can play solo (I don't feel like joining a party until I gain a few levels), but Sryth is better by a long shot.

With the XP he got from Obelisk run #8, Kermit managed to... leapfrog ;) another 6 ranks up the ratings, from #80 to #74.

And with what he got just now from completing the Hawklor adventure, he now has all powers at 71+ and all skills at 80+, which should jump him up another few ranks when the ranking refresh an hour from now... :)

Unfortunately, he was still wielding the Hale Blade when I saved right before the rankings refreshed just now, so he temporarily dropped from 74 to 79. But that's been corrected.


Update: He's #70 now. :D

You made it to 70 and I, due to lack of grinding until recently, have fallen from 49 to 69. I do have a fair amount of general xp hoarded now and could jump back into the 50s if I spent it, but I'm still waiting (hopefully not in vain) for the Tome of Attainment.

For now, I'll hopefully rely on GL encounters for specific xp to advance (even got the killing blow today in Tarramyre for the AS&P bonus, to my great surprise). So Ned, if you continue to "leapfrog" above me, just know I'm playing possum (lol).

Having been where you are now for some time, your ranking will jump significantly if you get the Ice Shield from the Troll Cave. Alternatively, buy a new shield at Tallys.

Getting the Ice Shield definitely gives most folks a big jump especially if they're toting around a higher end Tallys's shield since the freed up ATs can be spent elsewhere. I know all of my characters rankings went up considerably after getting the Ice Shield and trading in their Tallys's shield.

No longer an ascended being, I fell from 49 at the end of December to 69 now because of a reluctance to use my general xp until the Tome comes out. Once the Tome comes out, my rank should jump back up again (I expect somewhere in the 50s).

Last spring I was 308 with about half the xp points that I have now.

As a Non-AG member my MR and SP have realistically maxed out....Ive slipped a lot in those areas of the rankings. Which I am sure is holding me back.

I had hoped to get into the top 200 when I got back playing in the fall!...but it seems so many more players are currently on and gettin higher in levels too!

I will make the top 300 soon, I hope....but doubt if the top 250 or even 275 is attainable. {still it will be nice to be ranked in the Hall of Champions!!}

Xaran has made a rather stellar rise in the rankings this past week, from 67 to 59. Which is really strange since I haven't leveled him up in anything. Anybody else see something like this? Surely it's not the changes in the Dagger of Vanquishing or anything like that?

Well, at least one high-level character (Rommel) has droppedout of the rankings, so it's possable that others have as well. And there's also he possiability that someone saved with the wrong equipment on.

It's possible that even several folks have logged off without their best kit on. However I don't think it's probable.

Actually Psychoadept now that you mention it my alts have jumped up several places and I haven't leveled anything up on them in quite a long time. I've also been pretty much neglecting them - only running CHR sporadically and new content for a month or so.

Voltan was hovering in and outta the top 100 with Esoteric and Virago hovering around 90. All three have jumped about 10 spots or so.

I'll check the HoC above Xaran to see if I recognize who might be missing. Regardless of why or for how long congrats Psychoadept.

EDIT: Don't see anything, but I'll admit while I check the rankings sporadically I usually only remember and then it's an in the ballpark range the better known ones and more active forum member's.

just spend your general xp. A. You proably won't need it for the tome when and if it ever comes out. You'll be using gold and AT's. B even if you were to need some for it it won't be over 16k C why wait for something ya don't even know when or if it's coming out. Heck could be another year before it comes out. Give up on the tomb Texty if it shows up one day it shows up just like the sword of M. If it shows up it shows up. Believe me you can earn enough xp in a day if you need to.

Judge Fury's disappearance explained: my subscription fell due for renewal. I guess when it lapses, all characters belonging to the player on their roster drop off the rankings.

I renewed, taking the most expensive option to gain advantage of some cheap AT's. It didn't help my rise in the ranks (#9) once I'd upgraded an item, but it did offer me some personal satisfaction.

This ocassional disappearance of characters may explain why other 'names' have disappeared on occassion, but I've never understood why Joddelle remained invisible, even when she was active.

It's nice to know Judge Fury's brief absence was noted. :o

As I've watched newer players gazump Judge Fury on the ranking list, it's brought home to me the distinct advantage characters have with stat scores that offer xp percentage bonuses up to 30%.

I don't begrudge anyone these bonuses, and they are no less deserving of their rank for their persistence and hard work, but it does make me wistful in the knowledge that Judge Fury has to work so much harder to gain a level... indeed, he is required to grind out 30,000 more xp to go from level 99 to 100 in his abilities than he would if only... sigh.

I haven't had a day off in 38 days until today. It's nice to see you guys missed me.

I got promoted like three levels at work and I'm working six times as much so I can't be around that often,but I'll be here when I can. I missed the combat.

He disappeared from the rankings then came back about 4 weeks ago according to the post dates, and now he's gone again.

Even if the shorter than 12 month subscriptions are still around, I think 3 months was the shortest. So where is he??

Yes it does...a good way to see it is to do the Bone Horde Challenge in the battlegrounds.

And it should lower scaled undead, since it gives "and +8 extra vs. Undead". Try it out on Axepath.

I liked using the Creyn Blade for Axepath and CHR. My character prefers swords to staves, as do I.

I noticed that I had moved up to number six today and checked and Magical is not listed there. Anyone know anything?

I don't know about Havoc, but it seems the rankings have been changed a bit. Maybe adventurers who do not log in after a certain time are not taken into account.

All I know is Krylinym is suddenly #140, and I kinda remembered him being way lower, near #200.

EDIT: Maressea hadn't saved since April 5th and was now Unranked. I'm going to grind her for a little bit and we'll see if I get ranked and where.

I'm still wondering what happened to Rommel. Maybe you're right, in that if people don't log in for a while they're taken out of the rankings.
