Just thought I'd post in here and say hello...
I've been playing Sryth for a couple of weeks now and decided to join the forums and say hello.
Also, thank you everyone for all of the answers and information in the wiki. VERY useful.

(PS. I don't know if you can look at my character profile or not, but if you can, I could definitely use some suggestions!)

Hi, welcome!:)
If you want max daily quickstone xp bonus, you might want to buy the last two skills you lack (Unarmed and Weaponry Staves) from Adventurers' Collective. But that costs you 4 AT's though.

I see you're using blessed defender. You might wanna start getting glittering ice shield. And how many spare ATs you got?

Hi and welcome to the Forum, Kyshwn1.
I agree with Solitu. You should get Unarmed Combat (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Unarmed_Combat) and Weaponry:Staves from the Adventurers' Collective (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Adventurers%27_Collective). Also, get the Glittering Ice Shield (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/The_Cave_of_the_Ice_Troll#Glittering_Ice_Shield). Other than that, I'd need to see your Adventure Finder. :)
Oh, and if anybody wants to find it quickly, here's his profile (http://www.sryth.com/ci.php?f_c=pcp.inc&f_i=185fe9fxce230f37f). :)

Right now I have a whopping 6 spare AT.
Been working on the Ice Troll lair... but that'll be another 20-30 days before I can get that shield.
I mostly find that I am getting by butt handed to me in the last set of Proving Grounds, as well as the last couple of March of the Oakaruk adventures. As in... I don't even seem to have a chance at winning.

Hmmm, could you copy your Adventure Finder?
Also, the Wand of Dragonfire (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item%3A1413_Wand_of_Dragonfire) and Finger of Dread (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item%3A1301_Finger_Of_Dread) and, if you have to, Quickstone Heals help in defeating those powerful enemies.
I would take a break on PG VI for a while, at least until you get the Ice Shield.
BTW, how far are you in March of the Oakaruk? Fighting the Faceless Swordsman?

Have Dragonfire... and I have the Finger of Dread... just need to get the rings to activate it.
As far as Oakaruk, I'm up to "The Trail of the Hawk" now.
And as far as my Adventure Finder... it's empty :) Except for the multiplayer "raid" battles.
I suppose once I get the Ice Shield, I'll recoup the ATs I spend on the Blessed shield.. and be able to upgrade something else. Then I can get back to the PG VI.

You might want to switch out your Gold Battle Band for the Ring Of Dark Valour (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item%3A437_Ring_Of_Dark_Valour) (which has the exact same stats except is have one more enc) or the Rune-Marked Iron Ring (http://sryth.wikia.com/wiki/Item:1737_Rune-Marked_Iron_Ring) (which has -1 SP, +1 NR from the Gold Battle Band and the same otherwise). That'll free up 28 ATs, which should allow you to upgrade to the Kingly Protector.

OOooooh good idea on the rings! Good catch, thanks. I'll go do that :)
And thanks for the welcome, spencer.

Welcome to the forum Kyshwn1.
Best piece of advice I can give is to check out the Character Startup Guide on the Wiki. Very useful especially the links to the information by Psychoadept and Joddelle. You probably already know this if you've visited the wiki - it has spoiler potential.
There is a hints/tips thread in the help section here on the forum which is a good source of info (spoiler potential there as well). A lot of the info is also in the wiki.
Also if you haven't already done so and decide to check those out and IF you think you've fell too far victim to what I like to refer to as the Sryth Learning Curve don't be afraid to restart your character. Even after playing several months and being a "student" of both the wiki and the forum I forgot my lessons and ended up restarting an alt.
Or alternatively one could start an alternate character before he/she did significant grinding with the first and make the alt their main character.
The only time restarting isn't a viable option in my opinion is if someone has rewards from limited time events as those are the only things not "returned" to a character on a restart. ATs from donations or the Adventurer's Pack bonus are returnable. The only other time I wouldn't advise restarting would be if one has significant playing time with that character which I would classify as all or most of the single run stuff done and considerable grinding time/xp.
But don't read too much into the above as I tend to ramble on.
The main thing is to have fun in the game and here on the forum. And again, welcome.

Welcome to the forum, Kyshwn1. :)
How exactly is "Kyshwn" pronounced, anyway? It seems to be in need of some vowels. Or are you from one of those places where W is sometimes considered a vowel?

Welcome, Kyshwn! People seem to have covered things when in comes to advice, so I'll just say remember that your reward at the end of a PG will be less if you fail to complete scenarios first time through - don't risk it till you're confident!

On behalf of the Welsh, whaddya mean 'one of those places? ;)
(On behalf of everyone else, where else did you have in mind apart from Wales?)

The Proving Grounds are so named becuase thay are tough scenarios.
My advice is to do as many "in-game" adventures as possible before you tackle the Proving Grounds.
As a general rule, each "Proving Ground" scenario is a little more difficult, and PRG VI is meant for accomplished adventurers with resprectably high skills.
Good luck and happy adventuring!

Thanks again, all. I was able to beat the Trail of the Hawk adventure, which was good. I'm holding off on tackling the rest of the PG VI until I up my stats a bit. I had so far breezed through it all with no effort and then all of a sudden hit a wall and just failed. So I backed off.
As far as the pronunciation, the closest I can get it typed out is "kesh-OOn" the OO would be pronounced as the oo in "wood" or the ou in "could."
And yes, I did "appropriate" it from Celtic/Welsh... though it would properly start with a C and not a K. I just prefer the K.

I'm starting another character, going to go Evil this time... and I made sure to reroll lots. Now I've got all 25% or higher(more or less) xp bonuses :)

Try for no more than one stat lower that 15, and no more than one other lower than 18. You'll see why later..

Well, I knew about Wales, but I wasn't certain whether there were any other places where W can be a vowel. So I hedged my bets... :)

Aha, that is a Welsh W; that explains it. Thanks for the pronunciation.
In a way, it's kind of surprising that W is not considered a vowel more often. It is the "double-U" character, after all, and U is a vowel. So the Welsh are pretty much the only ones who pronounce it as if it were a double U ("uu").
And the reason it's called the double-U and not the double-V is because the letters U and J were invented comparatively recently -- after the invention of movable type in the 1500s. That's why Roman inscriptions all use V and I instead of U and J -- as in "IVLIVS CAESAR" (instead of JULIUS) or "PVBLIC LIBRARY" (often found on libraries with classical-style architecture).
The Romans had the W character, and V was used everywhere the U is nowadays, so presumably V was called "U" and thus W was "double-U".

Except the French pronounce it "doubla-V".....

Yes, and Spanish allows for "W" to be a doble ve OR a doble u. That was an interesting post, Young Ned. I didn't realize that the Romans didn't use the letter 'U' or 'J'.
Welcome to the forum and game Kyshwn! As you can see, we like to discuss things here. :D

So... I'm still working on my new character.
http://www.sryth.com/p/?18d1b58xce23b2e58
I THINK is the link to his profile. Working on a bunch of quests still, but I think I'm doing pretty well overall.
So thanks again, everyone, for your help :)
Had one quick question, though. According to the wiki, in regards to getting the Wand of Dragonfire:
He<the Guildmaster> will direct you to a certain character in Blade Square who will take your Iron Shards, give you the Iron Dragon Disc, and tell you the location of the Vault of The Iron Dragon in Thanevale. He also tells you to "come back when you have all seven".
But, he's no longer in Blade Square. Any ideas where I might find him?
Thanks!

Actually you need to go talk to the Guildmaster again not the character in Blade Square.
That should open up the follow up quest - Blood of Zardruzin. Iirc it starts out in the Goblinclaw. There is a page on it in the wiki with the usual spoiler potential.
