A Modest Proposal

"Now what's the situation?" He asked, wanting to get the general idea of what was idea and what his duties were.

"Dunno."

As he turned around, he stepped in a hole filled with slutch, causing everyone to break down in fits of giggles. Meanwhile, the commander outside rolls his eyes.

(Hopefully, he'll eventually let the girls come in somehow. Or if Zm can think of anything for them to do...)

Andrassy stood up and did his best to clean himself off. He ignored those giggling at him and checked up on the others, but they were gone.

"Where are the women who were just outside? They are allies and very capable ones at that. They'd be thrilled to take on any duties needed in this war on the battle field." Andrassy asked, hoping that would put the others closer to their goal.

He was just happy Usagi wasn't there to laugh when he had slipped, and kept it in his mind that those that did laugh would get to do lots of pushups later...

Eventually, you finish with the ditch. Now what?

It's the middle of the night. Suddenly, you hear warcries and yells. Trolls are attacking the camp!

A group of trolls jumps into the row of tents with the 4th/7th. Pride is nearly crushed underneath a particularly bad-smelling troll holding two swords made of some kind of bone. Next to the troll is an evil looking hound.

"What the..." Alanne said, still sleepy.

"PRIDE!" Moon yelled.

"Calm down," Alanne voiced, relising what was going on. "Let's use Elementalism and SM and anything else that seems fit (but no Gateing, Myrenne) to take down these trolls."

The number of trolls is overwhelming.

"Hey, lets see if we can make some sunlight. Trust me."

The trolls stare for a bit, and then you realize that you're in the Sryth universe and not JRR's. They start attacking you again.

"Well, Reha use Elementalism to make some light, and Moon and I will use SM."

"Or better yet: All 3 of us make a fire elemental, that will give us both light and hurt our foes."

The trolls attack the fire elementals and are distracted. Suddenly, overhead, you see several large rocks and stones fly into the camp. So does a clay pot, which when it hits a tent, explodes in fire.

/use more Elementalism to quench the flames, the Fortifaction to block the camp.

You can't seem to quench the flames. And you can't cover the entire camp.

"Umm, sis, remember we stored those a long time ago."

"Right. Unless Moon has one?"

"No." (Unless she actually DOES, which is really unlikely)

"Well then," she drew her sword, "CHARGE!!!!"

They fought but were driven back to the captain's tent which, oddly enough, had a deep trench dug around it with only one bridge. By this point, Alanne had switched to Tzal-Tolath and as she stood on the far side of the bridge, she held her staff aloft and yelled to the big troll-god who had shown up, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" and the bridge fell and the troll-god went bye-bye. Then Myrenne used Elementalism to fill in the trench and they charged again and Alanne switched back to her sword that was still shimmering brightly because of all the trolls.

(OK, wayyyyyy too much Tolkein. And I had it at first as "Myrenne then took out the abridged dictionary that she had been teaching her sister from and used Conjuration to turn it into a bridge and a dictionary and put the bridge over the trench.")

Unfortunately, logic exists in the world of Sryth, unlike Loathing. It doesn't work out and you get run over by several more trolls. Suddenly, a troll stops.

"There's nothing but lots of..."

Then, there's a large explosion and the tent sends flaming debris and pieces of hardened clay everywhere. It also kills every troll in 20 feet radius.

Umm, go and heal everybody who's not dead. Unless there ae still more trolls.

[zmflavius]

There are still more trolls.

[thingirl]

Alanne yells. Then they use Elementalism to kill the trolls.

There's too many of them for you to kill. You're soon out of NV.

The trolls have been beaten back for now. The Legate demands that everyone get ready for marching.

He also askes for volunteers to guard the wounded.

All 3 of their hands went up. And after a while, they started to use restro.

You start healing the wounded. After several hours, the main army still hasn't returned.

Meanwhile...

Soldiers charged, horses screamed, and arrows fell like rain. Pride rode in carrying his shortbow while on horseback only for his horse to fall, studded with arrows. Suddenly, a huge burning log rolled down a nearby hill, and knocked him down. Then, he realized that he was alone and surrounded by trolls.

Pride loses 300 SP.

"I can't get through to him. Wait, yes I can. *gasp*" Moon fainted. Alanne revived her.

"What did you see?"

"N-no. I won't say. He's-He's. No, but he can't be..."

"So, what now, Myrenne?"

[zmflavius]

Stragglers from the deployed army are returning, but only in ones and twos. One of them attempts to rally the survivors, but a soldier yells that soon, the entire combined troll and ogre army will soon be up their necks. Furthermore, the joint force is being led by a mighty ogre lord named Kendarugol Dreadspear, and a troll knight named Gromer Somer Joure (a name which I happened to have not actually invented).

Somehow, Alanne feels she has heard the name Kendarugol Dreadspear before (think enterprising master in the art of gating who recently set up a competition in which Alanne is not excelling).

Moon spoke up. "Who has heard what happened to Pride? TELL ME! OK, nobody knows? We should leave some scouts to tell any other survivors where we went, then we should get out of here."

You soon realize that the area is dangerous. The place is swarming with ogres and trolls!

You run into a snarling ogre. He appeared to have gotten lost when some guy on lvl 48 of the LoO backed out.

That's not enough to take him down. He attacks!

Eventually he dies.

The woods do offer cover, but they're swarming with trolls and ogres.

For all their brawn, trolls and ogres are terrible woodscreatures. Soon, you're alone.

"So, Moon, now what?"

Meanwhile...

I got bored of waiting for GoP so...

After several hours, Pride woke up. He was badly wounded, but amazingly, still alive. He tried to get up, and had to push off a dead horse. He sees that the trolls clearly have won, for the legate and almost the entire detachment of troops had been slain in battle. The trolls had lost just as many, but he could see where the enemy army had left.

In fact, it had returned back whence it had came. Then, he saw a shocking sight.

A lean, black dragon landed on the ground. Zmflavius, jumping off the dragon, looked around in disgust.

"I am guessing you are the only survivor who stayed near the carnage?"

Clearly, he did not remember his encounter with Pride.

[thingirl]

(Sorry I didn't see this sooner, must have clicked it then somehow forgot about it)

"As far as I can tell, sir, yes, I am."

(BTW, if GoP ever comes back, he can have his characters back)

[zmflavius]

"Fine...In that case, I think you should...Wait, didn't I throw you into a sewer filled with man-eating crocodiles?"

[thingirl]

"I have no recoletion of that, m'lord. Perhaps it was my brother?"

[zmflavius]

"Whatever. Go round up everybody else."

Zmflavius then remounts his dragon and leaves.

[thingirl]

"That was close. Let's see, the enemy probably is ransacking the camp right now, so I shouldn't go there. Let's see, what would those girls do? Well, if they got word, they would have left. There's a road out of the camp that goes by some woods. I'll bet they're in the woods. Now, to get there alive..."

[zmflavius]

Suddenly you see two trolls walking down the roadside.

Oh, and at the same time, the girls get lost in the woods.

[thingirl]

(I thought they were already lost.)

Try to hide from the trolls.

"Sis, do you want to live? Then stop talking to me like that! Anyway, Moon, try to contact him again. The worst that can happen is that you can't find him."

"OK..." A few minutes later, "I think I can sense something! He is..."

Suddenly, she's blocked.

(Really, that's making it too easy.)

"Phew. Now, I really need to find them..."

Zmflavius then lands his dragon among the girls.

"I knew that you'd somehow survived when I saw that twit of a captain. Now would you mind explaining how you got out of my dungeon?"

“What dungeon? I don’t remember any dungeon, do either of you?”

“No, and you know how I remember those things.”

Alanne took the ring off of her left pointer finger (Runeskin's) and showed it to Zmflavius saying, "And if it makes any differance, you probably don't want to kill your lord's Chosen One, or anyone under her protection."

"I...that's none of your business. And I don't think he'll care either."

[thingirl]

"Ture, he probably won't. However, do you really want to risk it? I mean, haven't you heard what happened to the former Prince Iakor after he failled Runeskin?"

[zmflavius]

"Iakor was a pathetic mortal."

[thingirl]

"True. But, he was one of Runeskin's favorites, wasn't he? And don't you think it indicative that my name is engraved upon the Ring?"

[zmflavius]

"My name is also engraved on my ring. You're not special."

"True. But, Iakor fell out of favor with Runeskin, probably for messing with me. I bet that Runeskin might do the same to you."

"HA! He's an overpowered ogre with delusions of glory. I could destroy him any day."

"Don't get cocky you twerp."

As it is, the foul ogre is actually behind you.

"Anyways, I've come to claim ownership of Rhar-Daepith. Goodbye."

Suddenly, a shadow path opens and you're all dragged forcibly into it.

You all land in a jail cell.

Zmflavius immediately begins swearing at you for your "idiocy."

"So, I take it that you take back your vows to Runeskin?"

[zmflavius]

"I already did. Runeskin just didn't find out until now."

[thingirl]

"Why didn't I think of that? So, do you know where we are or how to get out?"

[zmflavius]

"No."

[thingirl]

"Worth a shot. Now, let's take a look around this place..."

[zmflavius]

It's a cell...in...oh the irony. Daepith Castle (Zmflavius's castle)

*points and laughs* "Hahaha... Now, I'm guessing there's no escape unless he unlocks us. Or did you install a secret way out?"

"No...of course not. I never expected anyone to disappear into the bowels of Daepith to ever escape alive...or in one piece. Then again..."

Zmflavius peers out and shakes his head.

"The jailers are all Runeskin's minions, not my guardsmen."

[thingirl]

"Yeah, that's how I envisioned getting out of mine if I somehow got locked in the depths of my dungeons. But then again, I also planned for the, very unlikely, event of an uprising of my employees."

[zmflavius]

"In any case..."

He snaps his fingers.

You wait a while.

Later, jailers begin running out.

You can see golems running in, fighting Runeskin's minions. One unlocks the door.

"That was my secret fail-safe plan."

[thingirl]

"Yeah, you probably don't even want me to begin to describe my plan. Let's just say it involves Necromancy. Let's go."

"NO!"

"Usagi, what is it now?"

"Andrassy is still in that other world. He wasn't with us when we were sucked in. Myrenne, do you think we should stay here?"

"I'm staying out of this and just following my sister."

[zmflavius]

"Suit yourself. I'm reclaiming my castle."

Zmflavius then runs into the hallway, spraying destruction.

"Myre, let's go bash some baddies."

"Sorry, Usagi, but you probably want to come with us."

"Fine." They follow Zm and continue to destroy every creature in their path.

Eventually, you reclaim the castle.

"So, now that we've reclaimed this thing, you should probably look for your Demonscourge. And also if you know where Usagi's is... Also, is this place closer to Tallinus of Graldok?"

"Let's see...here's my Demonscourge...and who's Tallinus of Graldok? Do you mean Talinus or Graldok? Actually, this castle is right next to Trithik, only a couple miles away."

"Hey, Myre, didn't you put your Demonscourge in our room in Trynd Keep? Let's us four go to Trithik and get it, then think of how and what we should do to defeat Runeskin. He will be back for Tysa."

"Maybe. Maybe not. I'd still like to fight him though."

"Well, now that we agree on that, you probably know the most about him. So, what, should we go the the Gey Circle? Fogbough? Hawklor? somewhere else?"

[zmflavius]

"Rhar-Daepith actually. Chances are he's going to be there, to try and take control of the area."

[thingirl]

"And how do you suppose we get there? Combine all of our powers of Gateing?"

[zmflavius]

"Nah...mine alone will be sufficient."

[thingirl]

"Well then, open a portal!"

[zmflavius]

Zmflavius opens a portal.

"Well, I guess I'll go in first..."

[zmflavius]

After a disorienting trip, you land in a flaming city, where chaos reigns.

"Now, to find where Runeskin is attacking..."

[zmflavius]

"All of the city, by the looks of it."

Suddenly, a goblin runs up.

"Master! You've arrived...along with those idiots who botched the battle when the trolls were attacking."

[thingirl]

Myrenne started to speak, "We're not..."

"Sis, don't get mad," Alanne cut her off, "After all, our master is the one who sent us out on that mision with this army of goblins. Oh hey, did you get a tattoo? We'll have to remove that later..." She looked at Zmflavius, trying to tell him to rally the goblins against Runeskin.

Zmflavius charges into battle

"Ehh, well, I don't want to anger that idoit, so, CHARGE!"

[zmflavius]

More trolls!

"Oh gosh. I knew I was forgetting something."

"Well, fight back! We might be able to use our powers now that we don't have to hide."

A troll mage is raining meteors on the city.

[thingirl]

"Do we really have to save the city? I mean, if we stop Runeskin, most likely the tolls will stop too. If we can just calm Zmflavius down..."

Then, there's no time to think, because you see Zmflavius rampaging through a group of ogre soldiers.

"He's gonna kill himself. *shigh* Come on you two, let's go save him..."

[zmflavius]

You arrive only to see the tail end of the fight, with around a dozen dead ogres, Zmflavius leaving to sow wreckage elsewhere, and the rest of the ogres looking to vent their rage on the nearest thing.

Which is you.

You run. You hear a building collapse.

"I think we lost him. What was that?"

"Ignore it. We gotta find Zmflavius and have him help us defeat Runeskin."

[zmflavius]

It turns out that you went the way Zmflavius didn't go.

Head back to town and look for him.

(I recall that one of the LoO wielded a spiked club. I'm pretty certain it was either Charakar or Zurogun.)

It's no use. Most of the roads are collapsed and the few that remain are clogged with fighting.

They dicide to join in with the fighting.

Soon, you kill all the ogres and trolls in one area. A surviving goblin asks you,

"Have you seen Lord Zmflavius? We heard rumors that he was back, but for the past 4 hours, Runeskin's been attacking this city."

Then, you see nearly a hundred oakaruk coming down the road. They are all glowing a bright blue. Several goblin archers are firing arrows at them, but they simply bounce off.

"Ok, Myrenne, you take the Rod. You're the weakest us three, so you should have it. Now Usagi, I don't know what happened to Andrassy, but we'll find out sooner if these Oakruk go away."

Usagi respond by assuming a defensive stance.

[zmflavius]

The wand of umdurol glows, and a blue blast spurts out and destroys an oakaruk. It looks faded now, and the oakaruk are still coming.

[thingirl]

"Sis, what do you do to Umdurol's Oaken Rod?"

"Uhhhhhhh..."

"Fine. Wait. Usagi, do you think you have enough NR to help me blast these guys?"

(note, Alanne is refering to Destruction)

[zmflavius]

"Yeah."

Another Oakaruk fall. A lot of goblins charged forth to fight the oakaruk, and while they slew a dozen or so, many more than a dozen goblins fell in their brave attack.

[thingirl]

"We should probably run, but I'm stupid and you guys are following me. Maybe charging in would be better."

"You just said..."

"Usagi, just don't say anything. My sister gets really determined at times. We might as well charge so that she at least has some chance of survival. And if she dies, I don't have to live with the grief. That thinking usually works for me."

You Charge into the Oakaruk!

These Oakaruk are special, so they're stronger. You fell a couple dozen between yourselves, but soon, all of you are captured.

You're locked in a building next to a familiar person.































No, not Zmflavius. The Carverclaw in dragonbone armor.

"Oh, shoot. Not HIM. Get ready to fight..."

[zmflavius]

Actually, he's already charged off, mauling the oakaruk guards.

"Umm, Alanne..."

"That's wierd... Oh well, We may as well get out of this building, and maybe try to help him."

[zmflavius]

Suddenly Zmflavius charges in, and fells two oakaruk. Three are left.

[thingirl]

The girls split up and fight them in single combat. Alanne fell her's and went to help her sister.

[zmflavius]

All the oakaruk are dead.

Zmflavius smiles,

"Well, Silex, nice to meet you. And nice to meet you three again. Are you interested in knowing what happened to Ln?"

[thingirl]

Alanne stared at him in disbelief. "Yes, that would be nice."

[zmflavius]

"She is...dead. Dead for all purposes with her body rotting at the bottom of the Alustive River which borders this city."

"I figured that. But it's nice to know for sure. Anyway-"

Usagi cut her off, "What happened to Andrassy? TELL ME!"

[zmflavius]

"I don't know. No, really."

[thingirl]

Usagi continues to stare at him.

"Calm down, Usagi. We will find him. Now, Zmflavius, Did you find out anything on your mad rampage that might prove useful?"

[zmflavius]

"Did you know that when you decapitate an Ogre, the jugular vein separates into three different bits, despite functioning as a single unit?"

"And thanks a lot for dumping me in that stupid river. The spears of those goons of yours missed all of my vital organs somehow and I spent the entire time during the invasion recuperating in an old hovel on the outskirts of Rhar-Daepith."

Another familiar face.

"Well, Zmflavius, someone is not as powerful at it seems, hmm? If your goons can't even take out one girl, it's no surprise that you lost the city. But where are my manners-"

"You don't have any."

"Shut up, Myrenne. Anyway, welcome back, Ln. If you haven't heard, he renounced his vows to Runeskin. And he probably won't le tus leave, and he certainly won't help us, if we don't help him re-take this place. So, come on..."

[zmflavius]

"Yeah, I know."

Zmflavius then says

"We should start by going to my tower. When we reach the apex, we can light a signal flare telling all the goblins to gather at the tower. I can tell using magic that the tower hasn't fallen yet."

He then opens a portal.

[thingirl]

"I'm really trusting this guy? Oh well..." She jumped in. The other three followed suit.

[zmflavius]

You find yourself inside the tower, but it's fortified much more heavily than before.

"Now...to the apex. He immediately begins climbing the stairs."

[thingirl]

":rolleyes: Come on..."

[zmflavius]

You reach the apex.

Zmflavius then uses elementalism to shoot several bolts of fire into the sky.

In a short time, many survivors have reached the tower.

Immediately after, ogres, trolls, and demons begin assaulting the tower complex.

[thingirl]

"Now, we fight."

[zmflavius]

"You people can get onto the walls. I'll be controlling my people from this tower."

[thingirl]

"I figured as much... We might want to pair up. I'll go with my sister."

[zmflavius]

The walls are a vicious melee of fighting!

[thingirl]

Try to find some enemies to kill.

[zmflavius]

Oakaruk, ogres, trolls, demons. Take your pick.

[thingirl]

Ehh, ogres.

[zmflavius]

Two ogre guardians rush you!

[thingirl]

Alanne sends a blast of destruction at them.

One of them falls.

[thingirl]

Myrenne, who wasn't paying that much attention earlier, crept up and tried to decapitate the other.

He falls as well. Then you see a towering ogre charge you waving a longsword.

Alanne raises the two dead ogres to fight the new one.

[zmflavius]

They are easily defeated.

[thingirl]

Make a fire elemental and try to burn him.

[zmflavius]

He slips and falls off the wall.

[thingirl]

Look for more ogres.

[zmflavius]

After a couple hours, the enemy army is driven off.

Back to Zm.

[zmflavius]

Zm is still in the tower. And nobody's being let in.

Knock on the door and try to get in.

Actually, you can't get in the room. Two goblin guards outside holding unmatched spears and wearing unmatched black plate armor won't let you in.

"Sirs, we are friends of Lord Zmflavius. Would it be possable for one of you to tell him that we are here to see him?"

[zmflavius]

"Err...ok then."

Zmflavius lets you in.

"Now what?"

[thingirl]

"Well, we helped you clear your tower and probably the town. But I know that at the least the Oakaruk were sent by Runeskin. And he will send more if someone does not defeat him. I'm not asking you to leave here, but I am asking you, who was in his servace for a long time, to tell of any weaknesses of his that you know of, or where he's likely to be hiding."

[zmflavius]

"I don't know of any weaknesses, and truth be told, I'll probably be busy cleaning this place up. But..."

He opens a shadow path.

"This path will lead to the Nevernal realm of Arluwil, where there exists a collection of four white gems. They are the counterparts to the four black gems of the demonscourge, and when inserted into the demonscourge, will provide enough energy to kill Runeskin ONCE, though he may have a method of coming back to life. Therefore, it is necessary to make sure he stays dead. The way of doing that is a closely guarded secret. In the Nevernal realm of Phoephar, I believe there lives a person who knows of this secret...well actually, he's an immortal wizard imprisoned there by Runeskin. The entire realm of Phoephar is actually Runeskin's jailhouse. I believe...that Andrassy may be there."

He opens another path.

"This one will lead to Phoephar. Which will you take? I might remind you that like Phoephar, Arluwil is a heavily guarded fortress and finding the gems will be extremely difficult. I would not advise you to split up."

[thingirl]

"Usagi, we should go after the gems..."

"If this mage knows how to keep Runeskin dead, he know how to kill him." With that, she pulled Myrenne into the portal to Phoephar.

"Thanks, Zm. Come on, Ln." Alanne and Ln jumped in after the other two.

You arrive in a smoky, hellish place, where there is the smell of fire and brimstone. The cackles of demons and stuff can be heard everywhere. You get the feeling you know what sort of place Phoephar is.

Usagi looks on with determanation. "Now we find that wizzard."

Let's look for a big tower.

No such luck. There are only hovels with the mark of runeskin painted on the side.

Check inside the holes. (none of them have a round, green door, do they?)

They're all locked. And PLEASE, no more LOTR references. I've only watched the first two movies, and read none of the books (something on my to-do list).
