A FORUM DOWNTIME - Connectivity Issues - Please Report

3/29/12 - Sryth Forum Downtime

The Sryth forum (www.srythforum.com) is experiencing extended downtime due to an unspecified issue at the forum's hosting provider. We hope to have a status update from our forum hosting provider soon.

Thank you for your patience as we wait for this issue to be resolved.

Just a reminder -DEJINX- that the old forum (you must be registered to enter, etc...) is still functional should this one go down for an extended period.

And it's fun to take a stroll down memory lane even for players that may not have been around during the old forum's heyday. I know I enjoy looking at some of the old threads/post from before my Sryth time.

Edit: Of course you may want to bookmark the old forum. Or it can be googled via Sryth Forum. If you don't have Google Preview another way to tell is ProBoards is in the url. And the old wiki has a PB - PBworks in it's url. Just a handy reference/remembrance tip.

Has other had intermittent connectivity problems the same as I have since the GM's latest announcement re: them?

I have and just sent him a heads up as part of a bug follow up, just wondering.

There was definitely something going on yesterday, I haven't been online all that much today though so I'm not sure if the problem is still persisting.

I sent the GM an E-Mail about the forum going down Saturday and he replied...

Hi, yes, thank you for the report. They've been having issues at our
forum hosting provider (globalgold.co.uk) with attacks on their network
that have caused some of their services (our forum included) to go
offline repeatedly over the last week or so. Unless these issues are
cleared up within the next little while, I'll be looking into a new
hosting provider for the forum.

Well, it was down for several hours for me this morning, so things are not looking good. That's the first time I've had the forum be unavailable for longer than it takes to refresh the page a time or two.

Or maybe I should be optimistic and say 'maybe it was down for so long because the host company was making some major changes which will prevent the problem happening again'.

I think I'm having a 'glass half empty' kind of day, though.

I reported it to the GM last night.

I noticed that it quickly said that it couldn't connect, unlike normal where it tries for about 30 seconds first....

It was down for at least 12 hours yesterday, and according to the internet search engine, no longer existed.

I'm not sure where to put this, so feel free to move it to wherever. But are the automatic emails that the forum sends, like notifications of replies to subscribed threads, down for anyone else?

I haven't needed a spam filter and everything else seems to be arriving on schedule, so I find this a bit odd.
